continues from season 1

on the way to industria, the skeld has sustained too much damage from season 1 and red needs to make an emergency landing

they end up on fungal island, were they encounter a group of survivors from another crash

lord of the flies esque season were the survivors conflict over control, whilst coping with little to no tech. mira HQ refuses contact and cuts communication. meanwhile imposter eggs from the skeld incident fall down to the island and cause chaos and murder

at the end the survivors repair the ship and go to confront mira (possible mira HQ season idk)

thoughts? this is just a hypothetical btw. I'm aware there's a good chance paramount has killed any future season potential

i swear I'm not going insane but I've had this bug before

we reached peak. i love this story and this episode is a masterpiece in tension

the pre credits is really good, despite the little RTD lie

side characters are great, especially yvonne. she actually uses her brain and listens to the doctor!

i really like the lore with the sphere and the void, and that glass shattering has gotta be one of my favorite lectures in the show

the conversation between rose and Jackie is really interesting as well, touching on what rose could end up like if she stays forever

despite the tension, this has gotta be one of the funniest (and most quotable) episodes of the show

"if we end up on mars, I'm gonna kill you!"

hyped for the finale!

best moment:

that cliffhanger. possibly my favorite in the show. the cybermen easily invade every part of the world and even the doctor has given up hope. and then the daleks come out! brilliant

i get that arin felt she didn't believe in him when he didn't believe in himself, but the entire world was at stake. even arin admits at the start of season 2 he doesn't even know how to consistently perform object spinjitsu

surely he should have realized a world threatening scenario isn't a thing to leave up to luck/amateur skill

i used to really like this episode. upon rewatch.... it's not that good

there's definitely great ideas. i really love the isolus, some of my favorite aliens

but there are so many flaws. rose is nearly brushed to death by a scribble monster, the doctor is really weird this episode (the writer was determined to cram in as many British references as he could) and the voice they chose for the isolus sounds silly

and the episode ends with the doctor predicting the next 2 episodes... somehow

but i did like 10 carrying the torch. it made me laugh

overall, it's meh. i don't hate it but i don't love it either

*oh. no censoring? she'd really.... oh dear*

*she was so focused on this she didn't notice black glitching on her arm fizzle away. that was a problem for another day*

*the flight to the cracked egg didn't start the best. due to apparent malfunctions, competitors had to use a zepplin instead. not that it wasn't comfortable, far from it! the plane was fitted with luxurious seats, mouth watering snacks and a tv that had access to hundreds of films and shows. however, gadget thought it was too perfect*

"i mean... usually something goes wrong. is there an engine failure? a stowaway? drop in oxygen!??!"

*despite his rapidly increasing heartbeat, tangle brushed it off*

"you worry too much. just take after me. i barely think at all before leaping Into danger. yeah, it's more dangerous. but it's more fun. and there's no danger yet. so why worry? face problems as they come"

*gadget calmed himself. this did seem like good advice. maybe she was right. so he turned on his favorite show and tried to relax. and he was just slipping into sleep....*

"GREETINGS!"

*dodon pa burst onto every screen, waking everyone up. he certainly lacked subtlety*

"as you can now see, you're cruising over the cracked egg, where this tournament will take place. relax, as you begin to desent in a few minutes*

*the excited babble, however, was quickly shut down by the hooded figure from the earlier announcement. he spoke with a strange mechanical voice*

"welcome to the tournament, losers- i mean, all of you are losers except 1. I'll let you in on a secret. dodon pa is soft. he won't push you hard enough, unlike he used to. that's were i come in. enjoy the rest of your flight"

*the screens shut of. the last thing gadget heard was an unexpected transmission on his headset, which often picked up foreign signals*

"my biggest rivals in one place... perfect time for a little disposal"

*suddenly, gadget had a sick feeling and his anxiety wasn't the problem. he charged to the pilot's cabin*

"excuse me? how long until decent-"

*the pilot didn't respond. gadget got closer... he got a nasty shock*

"that's no tanuki.... that's definitely a robot"

*pulling out his trusty screwdriver, he wrenched the face off.... it was a bomb.*

"oh sweet gaia-"

*with no time to stop it. he charged back to the main room. even worse, the floor was sliding open and the parachutes spilled into the sky*

"EVERYBODY JUMP!"

*as they left the plane, it exploded into metal shards behind them*

*it was an unusual way to arrive at an event, but more in line with what gadget had expected*

i like this episode. a lot. the different perspective is really fun. LINDA are incredibly likable, which makes their fate so much sadder. i really like the abzorbalof, it makes me laugh and that's what i want from an episode of TV. the emotional beats are really strong as well. i love Elton's thoughts on the doctor at the end and the impact he has without being around. so... perfect episode! 5/5- oh wait there's still 30 seconds

30 seconds that harms the emotional core by giving elton his girlfriend back in the most cursed way possible. yikes. in her shoes, I'd prefer to be killed by the basilisk

best moment:

i love the exploration of Jackie's life and loneliness, and how it feels to be neglected in favour of the doctor. but that she's still willing to protect them. best Jackie moment so far imo

"PEOPLE OF MOBIUS! I'M OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCING MY CHAOS FIGHTING TOURNAMENT!"

*the screen changed to what looked like a PowerPoint presentation. odd for his standards.*

"16 of you will be able to complete in my tournament for the ultimate prize: a chaos emerald! this will put your skills to the test like you've never had to!"

"the 16 participants will need to come to register and then will be taken on a LUXURIOUS flight to the location of the tournament-"

*another slide change*

"the cracked egg! that's right, you'll be able to fight on the repurposed wreck of the devious doctor's final fortress, now lying safely in the ocean"

"of course, i never asked permission but I'm sure he'll allow it, since it supports the art of ra-"

*he looked sad for a moment*

"fighting. the art of fighting."

*but he brushed it off*

"so come on down! and prove you're the best fighter there is!"

"now, chaos, could you please dim it dramatically? thank you"
