So I post videos of myself singing song that I write, I would perform them with my guitar and sing the chorus. I wanna know how to improve the retention, I post really mellow ballads I feel like that would be something that anyone could enjoy but idk maybe the melodies repetitive for social media. I tried things like captions titles and some effects. I do have a low following so that’s maybe a factor.

Sometimes I come up with songs from just a couple lyrics I made, the lyrics sound really nice but there’s no meaning behind it because I just made it up. I want to write a full song from it and I’m unsure how to go about it. Do I just make up a story that fits the lyrics?

I haven’t written a full song since 2023. I have a few songs that I written halfway and I’m really interested in writing it but I just don’t know how to finish it and don’t have the reason to. There’s this one song that I written based off of a couple from a show in the boyfriend’s perspective but I just have trouble thinking what he’s feeling and what would he write about. I have finished the chorus which I really liked. I wanna write songs that mean something and aren’t written for the sake of it, so when I finish that song I wanna be true to the story and not just write stuff that sound good with no purpose or meaning.
