☕ Monday Mod Desk: New week. Same life? Not necessarily.

Monday gets a bad reputation.

But honestly, a new Monday is a pretty good excuse to stop treating last week like a prediction of your future.

Maybe you didn't get a reply.

Maybe the person you liked wasn't interested.

Maybe your post got 3 upvotes and you started questioning your entire existence. 😭

None of that means this week will look the same.

Every week you meet different people, have different conversations, make different decisions.

And somewhere in all of that, you might just meet someone who changes the whole equation.

That's the funny thing about finding someone.

You can spend six months thinking, "Nothing is happening."

Then one completely random conversation happens...

And suddenly you're wondering why you were so dramatic for the previous six months. 😂

So if you're still looking, keep looking.

Improve what you can.

Put yourself out there.

Talk to people.

Don't turn one bad experience into a permanent conclusion about your love life.

Your current situation is not your final situation.

And one small warning from the mod desk after what happened here yesterday:

https://www.reddit.com/r/JodiMilan/comments/1vpqeps/i_actually_found_my_girlfriend_through_this/

Mods are not involved in people's matches, conversations, DMs, or success stories.

We don't arrange matches.

We don't introduce people privately.

We don't create success stories.

We don't ask anyone to post one.

If two people meet here and something works out, that's between them. ❤️

And if someone posts a story saying they found their partner here, you are free to believe it, question it, or verify it yourself.

The mods don't vouch for anyone's personal story.

Our job is to run the community, keep it clean, remove the obvious nonsense, and give people a place to talk.

What happens between two people after that is their responsibility.

So yes, keep the hope.

But keep your common sense switched on too. 😭

Happy Independence Day, JodiMilan ❤️

We celebrate freedom today.

So here's a small reminder from the mod desk:

You don't need to have your life figured out by 25.

You don't need to be married because three aunties asked about it.

And you definitely don't need to panic because someone else's wedding invitation arrived before your match did. 😂

Take your time.

Build a life you're proud of.

And when the right person comes along, let it be someone who adds to that life, not someone you choose because you were scared of being alone.

Happy Independence Day, everyone. 🇮🇳

Hope you find freedom, happiness, and maybe... someone worth sharing both with. ❤️

🛠️ Sunday Build in Public: You roasted it... so I rebuilt it. 😂

Last Wednesday, I posted the profile UI here.

A lot of you pointed out things I hadn't even noticed.

Some wanted the bio to stand out more.

Some wanted the profile to feel more "alive."

Some thought it looked too much like every other matrimony site.

So...

I went back, made a bunch of changes, and here's Version 2.

🟢 Left = New UI (after your feedback)

🔴 Right = Old UI

This time, don't just tell me which one looks better.

Imagine you're actually looking for a partner.

Which profile would make you stay longer?

Which one helps you understand the person better?

And most importantly...

What still feels missing?

Be ruthless.

Roast the spacing.

Roast the cards.

Roast the colors.

Roast the entire thing if you have to. 😭

Every comment helps make the product better.

And a huge thank you to u/DuchessOfEyerolls and u/ruputpalpaul. Your comments from the last post directly influenced this redesign. ❤️ , You guys are awesome.

P.S. Before someone says it again... 😂

This isn't my profile. It's just dummy data for the UI.

☀️ Friday Mod Desk: If this week didn't go your way... read this.

Can I make one request before the weekend starts?

Don't let one quiet week convince you that you'll always be alone.

Seriously.

One unread DM.

One ghosting.

Couple of bad conversation.

Some family member asking,

"Beta, koi mila?"

None of those get to decide your future.

I know weekends are weird.

Your Instagram fills up with engagement photos.

Your cousin suddenly becomes "happily married."

Your relatives start behaving like HR managers for your personal life.

And somehow your mom always knows someone who's "just perfect for you." 😭

It's easy to feel like everyone else is moving forward.

Trust me...

They're not.

Some are just better at posting highlights.

Behind every smiling couple photo is another couple arguing about where to eat.

Behind every "perfect" relationship is two imperfect people figuring it out.

Stop comparing your behind-the-scenes to someone else's highlight reel.

Instead...

This weekend, do one thing that Future You will quietly thank you for.

Maybe finally write that introduction you've been postponing.

Maybe message someone whose post genuinely caught your attention.

Maybe get a haircut.

Maybe buy that shirt you've been saying you'll buy "next month."

Maybe call your parents.

Maybe just step outside instead of spending 6 hours convincing yourself that life is over because one stranger didn't reply.

The right person isn't looking for the perfect version of you.

They're hoping to meet the real one.

So don't disappear just because this week wasn't your week.

Who knows...

Next Friday you might be the person making someone else's week.

Until then...

Drink some water.

Watch some Movies.

And please...

Don't let your relatives become your relationship status. 😂

Happy Friday from the mod desk. ❤️

🌙 Thursday Evening Observation...

As MOD can I say something slightly controversial?

After reading hundreds of introductions here...

I don't think most people struggle because they're "not attractive enough."

I think they struggle because they make it too easy to forget them.

Think about it.

A lot of posts say:

> "I'm caring."

> "I like travelling."

> "Looking for a genuine connection."

> "I am emotionally available"

Okay...

Now imagine I ask you an hour later,

"Which post did you just read?"

Most of us won't remember.

Not because the person wasn't interesting.

Because the post never gave our brain anything to hold on to.

The posts people remember usually have one tiny detail.

> "I still call my grandma every Sunday."

> "I make terrible chai but amazing Maggi."

> "I'd rather spend a rainy evening on a terrace than in a fancy café."

Those little details do something magical.

They make you feel like you've already met the person.

So here's a small Thursday challenge.

If you've already posted...

Go read your own introduction.

Now remove your name, age and photo.

Would anyone still know it's you?

If the answer is no...

Don't rewrite your personality.

Rewrite your story.

Happy Thursday from the mod desk. 🍵

P.S. Tell me one completely random thing about yourself in the comments.

Not your job.

Not your salary.

Just one thing that makes you... you.

Let's see how many memorable humans we actually have here. 👀

☕ Monday Mod Desk: To all the hopeless romantics... yes, I'm talking to you.

Every Monday, half the sub wakes up with the same thought.

"Maybe this week..."

By Wednesday...

"Maybe next month..."

By Sunday...

"Shaadi(dot)com ya jodimilan(dot)com dekh leta hoon." 😭

Relax.

You're not behind.

You're just comparing your Chapter 3 with someone else's wedding photos.

Some of you are 24 and think life is over.

Some are 29 and think you've "missed the train."

Some are 35 and your relatives have started treating every family function like a recruitment drive.

We've seen it all.

Here's something we genuinely believe after moderating this sub.

Most people here aren't difficult to love.

They're just difficult to discover.

Sometimes the right person hasn't seen your post.

Sometimes you deleted it after 20 minutes because it got three upvotes.

Sometimes you never posted because you convinced yourself,

> "What's the point?"

And sometimes...

Yes.

Luck is taking its sweet, irritating time.

Unfortunately, there isn't a setting to increase your matchmaking luck by 20%.

If there was, trust me, I'd pin it. 😭

Until then...

Go to the gym.

Read a book.

Call your parents.

Touch some grass.

Write a better introduction.

Learn to communicate.

And for the love of chai...

Stop deciding your entire future because one stranger didn't reply to your DM.

One rejection isn't a personality.

One bad match isn't your destiny.

And one Monday definitely isn't the rest of your life.

Now go make this week slightly less boring than the last one.

Happy Monday from the mod desk. ❤️

Reddit ads worked really good .

I always heard Reddit ads were a waste of money.

Finally decided to try them myself.

At first I made the same mistake everyone does. I wrote actual ads.

Then I spent some time just reading posts in the subreddits I wanted to target and rewrote everything to sound like a normal Reddit post. No fancy designs or marketing copy. Just a screenshot and straight-up text.

I started with a $50 budget and didn't even set a daily spending limit. I just wanted to see what would happen.

Ended up making around $500 back.

Around 200 people signed up and 34 of them bought premium, which honestly surprised me. The conversion rate was much better than I expected.

One thing I think people ignore is that ads can only do so much. If your product actually solves a problem, has a premium-looking UI, and gives people a good first impression, your conversions will naturally be much better. Good ads might get the click, but the product is what gets the sale.

Definitely not saying this will work for everyone, but I judged Reddit ads way too early.

The Story Behind JodiMilan (and one guy who accidentally changed my perspective)

People often ask me,

"Why did you even create this sub?"

Truth is...

It wasn't because India needed another matchmaking community. 😭

Read below you get to know why we created this sub 😊😊

For almost 2 years, I kept seeing the same thing.

Good people.

Decent jobs.

Good families.

Yet... still struggling to find someone.

At first I thought, "Dating apps are broken."

Then I blamed algorithms.

Then I blamed astrology.

At one point I was ready to blame Mercury retrograde too. 😭

But after reading thousands of posts, DMs and stories here, I noticed three things.

1. We don't present ourselves well.

Some people are genuinely amazing.

Their profile makes them sound like a government application form.

You can be a 10/10 person and still write a 2/10 introduction.

2. Our communication sucks.

I'll include myself here.

I used to be terrible at conversations.

Small talk? Painful.

Expressing thoughts? Even worse.

Then last year, YouTube randomly recommended Vinh Giang.

Best rabbit hole I've gone down in a long time.

I've watched plenty of communication coaches.

Most teach you what to say.

Vinh teaches you how people actually hear you.

Whether it's asking for a raise, handling a difficult conversation, speaking confidently, or simply explaining your thoughts without sounding awkward... his advice genuinely helped me.

Not sponsored.

Just a fan.

3. Luck is real.

And yes...

Sometimes you can do everything right and still not meet the right person.

That doesn't mean you stop improving the things you can control.

Dress a little better.

Communicate a little better.

Write a better introduction.

Go outside once in a while. 😭

The rest...

Leave it to timing.

Happy Friday from the mod desk. ❤️

🔔 A Quick Community Update

We're seriously considering making verification mandatory for anyone posting matchmaking profiles in the near future.

This is to improve trust and reduce fake or low-effort posts.

We've also received quite a few suggestions about brand-new (0-day) Reddit accounts posting in the subreddit.

While we understand some people create a new account for privacy, please be a little cautious before engaging.

If you come across a profile from a brand-new account and decide to continue the conversation, it's entirely your choice.

Please use your own judgement before moving to DMs or sharing any personal information.

Our goal isn't to stop genuine people from finding matches - it's simply to make the community safer and more trustworthy for everyone.

As always, we'd love to hear your feedback in the comments. ❤️

📸 A Small Request About Photo Posts

We've noticed more members sharing their photos, which is great. Just one small request:

- If you're posting your photo, please blur your face if you're not comfortable with it being public.

- If you want to keep it unblurred, send us a Modmail before or after posting. We can lock the comments if you'd prefer not to receive public opinions or unnecessary remarks.

Also, please remember that r/JodiMilan is not a place for ranting or attacking others. Be respectful in the comments, even if you disagree. Kindness and basic decency go a long way in keeping this community welcoming for everyone.

Let's help make this subreddit a safe and respectful space. ❤️

How does the ranking for subreddits within a category works ? if ranking is lower does it effect the sub discover ability ?

We are seeing our sub r/jodimilan ranking is changing a bit from 8 to 11 , so wanted to know how ranking work, is it calculated via visitor, or by quality post , or something else ? , Like how we can improve ranking of sub within a topic.

I think too many people are giving up... way too early.

Lately I've been seeing a lot of posts like...

"This is my last post."

"I guess this sub doesn't work."

"I'm done."

And honestly...

I get it.

Getting ignored hurts.

Putting yourself out there isn't easy.

But can I ask you something?

Did you really expect one post to find your life partner?

If yes...

I think Instagram reels and Bollywood have lied to us a little. 😅

Real relationships don't always happen in a week.

Sometimes they don't happen in a month.

Sometimes the right person simply isn't online the day you post.

Sometimes they're not even on Reddit yet.

And yes...

Luck plays a role too.

Some people get lucky on their first post.

Some after their fifth.

Some after twenty conversations.

Life isn't fair like that.

But quitting after one or two attempts...

is almost guaranteed to give you zero chance.

Ask yourself one question.

Would you rather stay patient and eventually meet the right person...

or give up today and wonder "what if?" a year from now?

Finding a life partner isn't a speedrun.

It's probably one of the biggest decisions you'll ever make.

So don't rush it.

Keep improving your posts.

Keep talking to people.

Keep showing up.

The right match probably won't arrive because you posted once.

But they definitely won't arrive if you stop trying.

Good luck.

We're all rooting for you. ❤️

After reading almost every M4F post this week... I have a confession. 👀

As mods, we accidentally became relationship archaeologists.

Every day we dig through posts hoping to find gold.

Some posts get buried.

Some explode.

After reading this week's posts...

I think I finally know why.

It wasn't the salary.

It wasn't the height.

It wasn't the IIT tag.

It wasn't the CTC.

(Yes, some of you really think putting 50 LPA in the title is a personality trait. 😭)

The posts people stopped to read all had one thing in common.

They answered a question that most posts completely skip.

>"Why are you here today?"

Not...

"I'm 27."

Not...

"I earn X."

Not...

"I like travelling, Netflix and food."

The posts that people remembered had a reason.

One person had just reached a point where arranged marriage didn't feel right anymore.

Another realised what kind of relationship he actually wanted after a recent experience.

Another spent more time describing the life he wanted to build than describing himself.

See the difference?

They weren't introducing a profile.

They were introducing a person.

Here's a small challenge.

Before posting...

Delete the first paragraph.

If it only contains:

• Age

• Height

• Job

• Salary

Congratulations.

You just deleted nothing memorable. 😭

Now replace it with one paragraph answering:

"Why am I writing this today?"

That's usually where your real post begins.

Another thing.

Nobody falls in love with bullet points.

People remember moments.

"I want someone who'll argue with me over a movie."

"I want ordinary Tuesdays."

"I want peace."

Those tiny details do more heavy lifting than another paragraph saying you're "genuine, loyal and caring."

(Respectfully... 90% of this subreddit is apparently genuine, loyal and caring. 😭)

That's all from the mod desk this week.

Now go write something that sounds like you.

Just... you.

Because the posts that stay with people aren't the ones trying to look perfect.

They're the ones that make someone pause and think,

>"Damn... this person feels real."

Help us make JodiMilan better

This community is yours as much as ours.

We don't just want to help people find a match. We want this to become a place where people learn how to build better relationships too, with a future partner, parents, siblings, friends, and even themselves.

So tell us honestly:

- What should we do more of?

- What should we stop doing?

- What kind of posts would make you visit this sub more often?

- Any fun ideas, weekly threads, AMAs, relationship lessons, or anything else?

No idea is too small. Drop it in the comments.

Let's build an Indian relationship community that people actually enjoy coming back to - not just when they're looking for a match, but when they want to become a better person too.

After reading almost every M4F post here... I noticed something.

As mods, we read almost every post before you do.

Some disappear without a single meaningful conversation.

Some unexpectedly blow up with comments, DMs, and genuine interest.

At first I thought it was because of height, salary, FAANG, looks, or fancy job titles.

It wasn't.

A guy earning ₹26k/month got attention.

A guy wanting to be a house husband got attention.

Someone scared of arranged marriage got attention.

A forensic doctor got attention.

Different people. Different backgrounds.

But they all had one thing in common.

They sounded like real people.

The posts that people remember usually don't start with:

>"I'm 27, software engineer, 5'10", looking for genuine connection."

They start with something only you could write.

>"My day job feels like a Netflix crime thriller."

>"I'm giving dating one honest shot before arranged marriage begins."

>"I realised I spend weekends with VS Code instead of people."

Within two lines, people already know who they're talking to.

Another thing I noticed...

The posts that get ignored usually try to sound perfect.

The ones people connect with aren't perfect at all.

They admit things like:

  • "I've never dated."
  • "I'm awkward at first."
  • "I'm scared of arranged marriage."
  • "I overthink."
  • "I'm a nerd."

Funny enough, those little imperfections make someone feel more trustworthy than a list of achievements ever could.

And please...

Stop writing resumes.

People don't fall for resumes.

They remember stories.

Tell us why you're here.

Tell us what made you write the post today.

Tell us what a random Tuesday with you looks like.

Tell us why someone should look forward to grocery shopping, chai in the rain, or arguing over which movie to watch with you.

Those tiny details stay in people's heads.

One more observation.

The best posts don't ask for a "perfect girl."

They describe a peaceful life.

A teammate.

Someone to laugh with.

Someone to grow old with.

That feels far more genuine than a checklist of requirements.

This subreddit isn't a dating app where people swipe after reading three words.

People here actually read.

Give them something worth remembering.

If someone finishes reading your post and feels like they already know you a little...

You've probably written a good one.

Good luck to everyone who's putting themselves out there.

It takes courage, and we genuinely hope you find your person.

Add suggestion in comments If I missed anything.

Researching my niche competitors, I found that they are vibe coding too much. They just develop and don't test anything.

As a founder, it's important for us to note how our competitors are performing. First, I checked the new crowd, and after analyzing them, I found that the majority are vibe coding. To be frank, anyone with an engineering or developer background can usually tell whether an app is fully vibe coded or not.

I was going through the newcomers in my niche, literally using their apps to analyze whether users are going to stick with them or not.

I understood that their products have a number of basic flaws, which is likely the reason they have ratings below 3.5. People directly point out the mistakes in their feedback, but the people behind the apps seem relaxed and continue driving traffic with Google Ads.

I shared an attachment where anyone can see a null check operator error. I know these things happen, but they shouldn't remain unfixed. That issue has been there for over six months.

Along with that, I've been following one of those founders online and understood that he's building a portfolio of projects. This doesn't leave a good impression, as I believe the person should also focus on updating and maintaining their existing apps.

That founder has over 10 apps.

His strategy is good, but users shouldn't have to suffer because of it.

What are your thoughts on this? I mean, on the vibe-coding culture.

I didn't named the app so you also don't. Keep going competitor.
