How many of you are on SSRIS?
August intern. My anxiety levels are through the roof right now. Started lexapro 2 days ago and for some reason it has spiked my anxiety. How many of you are on SSRIs? Has it helped?

Just to make me feel better. Thanks.
If you had to choose again would you choose hospitalist? If not what would you have chosen after graduating residency to do (fellowships, career paths etc)
Currently doing IM residency, any Anki deck anyone has used that helped them throughout IM residency?
New July intern, I declare it a victory if I didn’t cry at home that day after work.
How’s the rest of you doing.
Sincerely; a new July intern who started inpatient
Just started service with a very toxic and mean attending. This attending has no problem insulting interns infront of other specialities especially when we are rounding. They don’t insult directly but makes little comments that are insults, very embarrassing infront of colleagues. So to all my seasoned residents, how do you deal with toxic attendings? And no I don’t learn shit from them.
So far I’m trying to dissociate and zone out when having to interact with this said attending and talk less, but often wake up with a pit in my stomach before going to work. What’s your coping mechanism for dealing with attendings like that? And don’t say report bc I’m not going to make a enemy.
Seasoned residents, help us interns out with advice. Ty.
New resident just started intern year. I’m currently on inpatient teams at my program, have 7 patients to follow. Extremely overwhelmed and feel so incredibly stupid. Can’t even do a proper patient presentation or hand off. My fellow co interns all seem to have their shit together. In the last week I have cried (at home) more then I have in the past year. I also feel so incredibly alone at my program since I moved to a program out of my home state.
Anyone going through the same thing? I just wake up everyday and show up putting in the effort even though sometimes it still feels like I’m drowning. I really do just want to curl up in a ball and stay there for days. Don’t know how I can manage consults, talking to patients, putting in orders etc without anyone holding my hand.
I downloaded some weird master deck I found online and it's not organized into sections like I previously used to have it like "pharm antibacterial, diabetes" etc. its not on the sidebar either, but if you have the link please send or post in the comments, thanks
Does anyone know any mat pilates classes with a heated room! Looking anywhere really, Liverpool, Syracuse, could even go to any other surrounding area. No gyms please.
Anyone have co residents or class mates asking for a ride all the time. How do you say no and set your boundary? Dont want to end up being the driver but have a hard time saying no to people when they ask for rides back home when we finish the day. I don’t want to have to purposely avoid these people either. Open to suggestions
Starting residency soon and highly considering starting SSRIs. I feel hyper emotional these past few weeks and don’t want to continue to want to feel like crying every 5 minutes, especially in residency. Leaving my home state and family to a new area for residency with no support system there. How long have you been on ssris and have they helped?
I’m starting residency soon, and I need to know what yall do to grow some thick skin and not be so sensitive. I don’t want to be hyper reactive with tears (in private) for every hard situation I find myself in.
Anybody has coping mechanisms to help them tough the fuck up? I don’t want to go through residency shedding tears everytime a nurse comes at me or when reprimanded by an attending. Usually I brush it off but these last few weeks I’ve been feeling hyper emotional. Maybe it’s leaving my home state and family to a brand new place and starting residency but I’ve always been a little sensitive.
Young female living by myself downtown. I just moved down here from the midwest. Would love to know where I can buy pepper spray and taser for protection? My job may require me to work late nights (healthcare) and I would like to be safe. Any tips on how to protect myself as a female? I live near salt city market. Ladies living in downtown, any advice or words of encouragement?
(The reason I ask for encouragement is bc I am a little freaked out and paranoid and think something bad will happen to me - cue having intense anxiety personality)
Does anyone know if the VA hospital in downtown have guest parking? Not an employee or a patient. Visiting someone.
Upcoming intern here. I’ve heard quite a few unsettling stories about residents bullying each other(whole ass adults btw), getting caught up in drama, cliques and unnecessary conflicts during residency.
What’s your best advice for staying out of residency drama? Currently my plan is to be friendly but not too involved with co-residents, and no talking crap about attendings/faculty.
For those who made it through residency with minimal drama what helped? Is there anything you wish you had done differently or advice you would give upcoming interns. Ty in advance.
Which grocery store is your go to? Wegman overstimulates the shit out of me, and trader joes has absolutely nothing. Im new to the state so wanted to ask which one is your go to, and drop the location too. Okay with going to liverpool etc if needed.
Where did you buy your sofa and other furniture for your apartment in syracuse? other then Ikea.
Moving to a brand new city where I don’t know anyone. Terrified about starting as a intern. Cant remember jack shit. Worried about making friends and finding my people. Worried about looking stupid infront of colleagues and attendings. Worried about bitchy nurses (I’m a female intern). Worried worried worried.
I'm moving to Syracuse soon for a new healthcare job and buying a used 2023 car. I’m from Chicago and don’t drive so this is my first time getting a car.
I’ve been looking around for insurance quotes and some companies are quoting me $500+ per month. The only way I could get it closer to $200 was by choosing very basic coverage through Progressive and Geico without comprehensive or collision coverage.
I wanted to ask people already living here how bad of an idea is this? I’ve never lived in Syracuse before so I’m not sure how common car theft, vandalism or accidents are. I’ll be living downtown parking in a garage near my apartment. Any advice? Trying to find something affordable.
Can anyone recommend a place, does not have to be in Syracuse, that sells good quality halal meat? Where's your go to place to get some good halal goat, steaks, chicken etc,
Im willing to drive a little further out if it means getting good quality things, tired of my meat smelling...
