Quick question about converting a slow cooker recipe to IP

I have an ATK recipe for Slow-Cooker Spanish Chicken and Quinoa Stew. First step has you microwave 2 onions, tomato paste, garlic, paprika, oil, and saffron in a bowl until onions are softened (~5 minutes) then transfer to slow cooker. Add liquids, quinoa, and bone-in chicken breast and slow cook 3 to 5 hours on low.

There were some complaints in the commentary about the recipe being a bit bland, so I'm using thighs instead. Probably add some turkey bratwurst, even if that's more German than Spanish.

Looking at slow cooker->IP conversions I would do 10 minutes on high then NPR. Any reason to still do that 5 minutes in the microwave first? I don't think I'd mind a bit of crunch to the onions.

My PT does nerve stimulation treatments, but not on the back.

L5 herniation with nerve compression; foot drop with 0/5 strength in the left extensor hallucis longus and left tibialis anterior.

Fortunately, there's no pain now; I just can't use my left foot.

At PT the therapist puts two pads on the front-left of the shin and that's it. Speaking purely as a layperson, I don't understand why a second set of pads isn't used on the back, at the pinched nerve: if the point to try to get a connection, why not also focus on the area where the break is?

Recommendation for earplugs that block low-frequency sounds

With warmer weather coming, I'm having to deal with loud club music coming from a bar across a relatively narrow bay behind my house. Saturday and (strangely) Wednesday nights until around midnight or after, it's thump thump thump.

I've tried basic earplugs, pillow over the head, sleeping in a spare bedroom on the other side of the house... it still keeps me up.

I do need to be able to hear an alarm (i.e., medium to higher frequencies), but the thump-thump carries through everything.

Why did Toyota go with that golf cart horn?

I just swapped out the OEM horn for the 08522-B1010; much better.

My 2012 Prius had dual horns; while not exactly "commanding" they were better than the cartoonish single horn in my 2024 Prime. The 2024 has the threaded mount for a second horn, so it's not as if they'd need to redesign anything to have them.

Is the single horn just Toyota penny-pinching, or was there a good reason to go with it? The OEM horn is also smaller than either of the two replacements, but it isn't as if they needed the room.

Favorite vegan butter for baking?

I've looked up comparative reviews and in evaluating they balance spreading and baking. I pretty much never put it on anything (bread, corn, etc.), and 95% of the time use oil for sautéing.

I baked something the other day and had a stick of Country Crock... I don't recall the exact variety. Straight out of the fridge it had the consistency of soft butter--i.e., you could press the bar with your fingers and it deformed easily. My thought is that this would affect the texture of baked/cooled brownie/bar/cake etc, since it wouldn't solidify so much. I guess it probably breaks down to how much saturated fat is used.

Anyone have a favorite vegan butter for baking that gives them reliable results? I bake by weight so it doesn't have to be in bar form for measuring purposes, though presumably if it's in a tub it's made to be softer/more spreadable, which I'm avoiding.
