What’s the smell

When walking on the sidewalk I’ll randomly be hit with a very distinct noxious odor. There’s nothing and no one around. I know what poop smells like and it’s not that unless shit just smells different after sitting out for a while.

Is it safe for me as a 210lb guy to sleep on a loft rated at 175lbs?

I just signed a lease with a new landlord and they gave me a room with a loft. The loft is rated for 175lbs as I just saw the sticker. No matter how much weight I lose I’ll never be 175.

How worried should I be to sleep on it. I should also mention it’s for the ladder too. I’d assume if anything breaks under the 175 limit it would be the flimsy ladder

Best places to meet people

I’m 22 moving to sf in a week here and don’t know anyone. I’m living by Dolores park and am unsure what to do or where to go to meet people. I’m a pretty introverted/independent person so I can go a long time without human contact but I’m sure in the future I’d like a friend or two.

What career can I pivot to outside of corporate finance?

I graduated with a degree in finance recently and started a job doing Strat fin at a large tech company. I don’t hate it but it’s not what I want to do the rest of my life. One thing that bugs me about finance is no matter what your doing you’re always kinda on the sidelines and yes you can be in Intresting rooms where intresting decisions are being talked about or made but you will never be the person to have ownership or pull the trigger. There is also just zero creativity and outside the box thinking in finance. Maybe it’s my role and that will change but I’m not seeing the light. The only place I can think of where you have decision making power is if you are in some sort of private equity or venture capital but even then your not really creating or helping to think about how to improve something.

I just go done building my own consumer app and am going to launch and market it here soon. I hate coding (thinking about system architecture, database, security, and all of that stuff makes me want to die) but I really enjoyed thinking about product decisions, features and users and the creativity that comes with that. Above all else I just liked being in charge of building something.

Idk if PM is something I should look into or if there’s other areas in finance that’s attainable that I should be looking into that fits the mold a little bit better.

Somone young in their career in FP&A who wants to ditch finance

Not sure if this is the right sub but I graduated with a degree in finance recently and started a job doing Strat fin at a large tech company. Am I missing something with an ESPP?

Just graduated college and am budgeting out for the year. I work for a large public tech company that has an ESPP. Initially I blew it off because I thought there was a hold up before you can sell the shares. Looking at it more I don’t see a hold up clause and you get it at a 15% discount with a 1 year look back.

It comes out of your payroll each month and there are two purchase dates during the year.
Should I just max this out, get the shares, sell immediately and am guaranteed post tax about 9ish percent return (unless disaster strikes between when I get it and sell it).

Feels to good to be true what am I missing

I feel like crashing out on food is just apart of me

I have binged ever since I can remember, I weigh the same now as a 22 year old as I did when I was 9 years old.

I did phenomenally for two weeks. Felt good every day, ate healthy food, didn’t restrict, ate foods I was craving and did this for two weeks. I go and spend a weekend with family (I usually always binge when this happens due to the high concentration of crap around). Day one is fine. Day 2 goes great and dinner hits, all you can eat, walk away feeling really good, didn’t restrict over ate a tiny bit but didn’t crash out. Decided to end the night with a cookie and next thing you know I just ate half a bag of m&ms 4 cookies an ice cream cone, some mini candies and a piece of pie. Among other things, Like what the fuck.

The same way alcoholics can’t drink alcohol I think I just can’t eat trigger foods which happen to be desserts. Idk sucks but tomorrow is a new day.

Did I make a mistake signing this lease?

I posted this on the SF Reddit but got taken down and was told to post here.

I found an awesome place right next to Dolores park (like 5 minute walk away) with cheap rent and fully furnished (which is great because I’m not from here). Toured the place was really excited and signed but there is one issue and that is I’m a 22M and know no one and will be living with two 65 year old people.

Originally I felt fine, the lady I met was a bit quirky but seemed nice. The conditions of the lease were normal but there was a condition of no drugs in the house (weed included) which is fine because I don’t smoke and if I do it’s socially.

There was also a no overnight policy which originally I was fine with if I ever get a partner just can’t sleep over and I feel I’m centrally located enough that they can get home whenever.

There was also a couple conditions for shower usage and washer/dryer usage just to save water due to drought but nothing seemed unreasonable.

The house is small and doesn’t really have an entertaining area inside but outside there’s a pretty sweet patio that over looks the city and she said I could have friends over and drink some beer out back if I make any lol so felt that she was reasonable. Also being so close to Dolores is nice and having the mission is also nice for meeting with people

I feel for location and price that it’s a good deal. Just a bit nervous if it’s gonna hamper me socially but I’m outgoing enough to make friends with co workers and do activities with groups in the city.

I can utilize the patio and got Dolores and mission in my backyard.

Visited SF for the first time looking for housing and was shocked about the drastic difference between Valencia and mission st

I was only here for two days and tried to be as cheap as possible so got a place off of 15 and mission. I wouldn’t say I was super scared walking around but definitely a bit uneasy and it is definitely a bit rougher. it seemed like that was all of mission street but got a little bit better when south of 16th until the McDonald’s. I walk 5 minutes over to Valencia and it is night and day difference and you walk over to Dolores street and you wouldn’t even imagine that something like 16th and mission exists.

Ended up getting a room just south of Dolores park so excited to be in the area.

Do young adults under 25 live in the city?

25 is kinda the age where your far enough in your career that you start making a good wage. I visited for a few days and seemed like 90%+ young people were 25 and older. I’m 22. I was also around mission, Castro noe for most of it but ventured into marina, Richmond, and presido.

How reliable is the room finder section on Craigslist when looking for places

I’m at a budget of about 2k for moving out to Sf July 1st. Seems like my best option is to find a room with roommates which I’m totally cool with (early 20s). I am glued to the Facebook pages and have had some hits but nothing has stuck yet. I just started looking at Craigslist and there are a ton of rooms open on there but just a bit nervous about the sketchiness.

I was kinda thinking Craigslist would be my last resort. Also a lot of the rooms on Craigslist seem to have crazy cheap rent.

What Fishing spots around SF/bay?

I’m moving to SF from the Midwest and one of my hobbies is freshwater fishing. I want to get into fly fishing, but usually do bobber and lure. Where I’m at I usually fish for pike, musky, bass, sunnies, crappies, sturgeon, walleye in lakes and trout in streams.
