Is it time to sit Yeli?

I have a hard time believing that Yeli is better as a DH than Vaughn at this point, even against righties. Since 6/9, his average has fallen 41 points and he has only hit ONE homerun since 5/25 - a serious extended slump. I know he's an all-timer, and his contract is the largest on the team, but perhaps he should be used more situationally and is no longer an everyday player. His clubhouse leadership is too valuable to ignore, but I think he's got to sit for a bit and let the Brewers figure out their ideal lineup.

The Brewers keep finding ways to win despite (a real credit to them) the RISP hitting being pretty awful lately. And it's hard to complain too much with the 2nd best record in baseball, I'm just thinking about how to maximize this window. Truthfully, Mitchell has been the one carrying this team over the past week - and it's been awesome to see him really come into his own.

Also, HBD America.

Why do people seem to demand "proportionality" in casualties when it comes to Jews?

I'm guessing people trot out the proportionality argument..because they really want more dead Jews not less dead Palestinians. One side (ours) has done everything possible post 10/7 (because it was a massive intelligence failure that allowed Oct 7 to happen) to protect their own people with defensive weaponry. The other side quite literally prays for mass casualties and co-locates every military installation inside civil infrastructure. The sufficient lack of dead Jews for some is certainly not a reflection of a lack of trying on the part of Hamas, Hezbollah, the IRGC, the Houthis, and Shia Militia groups.

Obviously, we all know this - but it's striking how little people who seem to breathlessly follow this conflict, seem to understand that civilian casualties are a goal of Hamas because they (correctly) know how powerful it is for bringing back the blood libel antisemitism. Or, rather, they don't care. Because if they did, they'd be clamoring for Egypt to actually let in aid, and provide an escape valve for non-combatant Gazans.

Crazy that people are marking the 1,000 day of the Gaza War (assuming they aren't just calling a genocide), considering that Israel didn't invade immediately and was heavily criticized for waiting several weeks. Now, I think there's a genuine argument to be made in how Israel prosecuted the war, however, not sure how other armies would have tried to achieve their objectives given that Gazan has more underground tunnels than New York has subway.

Sevilla Nov 2026

Visiting from the United States with a few friends in late Oct / Nov. I've been to Sevilla before, but it's been 20 years. We have a good idea of what to visit for main tourist attractions, but would like a local's perspective of hidden gems off the beaten path.

Any recommendations for authentic Analucian food?

Attractions that show off Sevilla's unique culture?

Any events to be aware of? If choosing between a Sevilla or a Real Betis game, cual es la mejor opción?

Any unique shops? Emphasis on record shops, bookstores, and print makers.

I'm fairly fluent in Spanish, so language is not a barrier.

Is this the most complete Brewers team yet?

Caveat always being health, but this feels like a complete TEAM.

At the beginning of the season, talk was about an inevitable downturn. Losing Freddie. The Cubs being better with a big off season. They haven't had Priester, at all. Woodruff has been mostly injured. Logan Henderson is still hurt. They've gotten almost no production all year out of their 7-9 hitters...Vaughn, Yeli, and Chourio have all missed significant time....and yet

As of today, they're 3rd in runs scored and 2nd in runs allowed (and this includes those bullshit games in Vegas). They're tied for the second best record in the NL. They have by far the best record against winning teams, having played a much tougher schedule thus far than the Cubs.

Assuming Pratt can play, the only real hole is Hamilton and he's a lot better than Joey O / Rengifo. A lefty line up with Vaughn in is scary. Mitchell is finally starting to deliver on his promise. Sal's starting to play better. Jackson looks like the guy who could singlehandedly win a series. Turang at times is the best player in the field. Bauers is deserving of all star consideration.

And pitching. What more can be said about Miz? Harrison is looking like the steal of the decade. Chad Patrick in long relief to bail out the occasional bad start. Ashby leading the league in wins...Amd hopefully an injured rotation and bullpen coming back soon.

Is this the most complete Brewers team ever? IMHO, they're a better, more experienced, and deeper than last year. Go Brewers.

Why is AIPAC a problem and not Qatar?

Right now the cool thing to do is to attack any candidate for taking any money from American Jews.

There's an Arab politician running in Michigan who's entire platform is seemingly about Israel. In the Michigan Reddit thread, I posted something akin to, "I suppose none of you have a problem with dark money from governments like Qatar though" and it was flagged as hate speech, it was deleted, and I was given a warning.

Not sure why you can't criticize candidates who are completely obsessed with bringing down Israel, who are being supported by even less transparent, more dangerous orgs than AIPAC (which isn't foreign BTW). Qatar has vastly outspent any Israel affiliated group to influence younger voters, and it's working. I also cannot, for the life of me, understand why any Progressive thinks they have anything in common with Islamists or a theocratic monarchy that is diametrically opposed to everything the supposedly believe. Qatar isn't even particularly subtle about what they want.

I don't like AIPAC, and I think they continually hurt themselves by backing terrible candidates while attacking candidates they could have courted by just being more calm and strategic. But this treating AIPAC like it's the tobacco lobby is insane. 2026 is feeling like the year Democrats definitively break from Israel and actually act on it by canceling all aid and weapons sales. Israel desperately needs new leadership and cannot continue a government led by genuinely awful people. But ignoring the pathologies and massive societal problems in the Arab world strikes me as both deeply racist and antisemitic. We should be treating any politician accepting Qatari money as harshly or more so than anyone taking AIPAC money.

Milwaukee Development Roundup?

Former Milwaukeean who now lives out of state. I've tried to keep up with development on Skyscrapercity, but that community has really dried up since one of the users started spamming the forum with AI slop...a few others are pretty anti-urban, Milwaukee pessimists.

Anecdotally, it feels like Development has really dried up over the past several years with rising building costs, stagnant population, and a wait and see attitude on hiring for many companies.

That said...would anyone be willing to take some photos of in-progress development / redevelopment projects? Sounds like there's a few smaller projects u/C, many that have been proposed (and are maybe now abandoned), and few anticipated starts. Would love to Milwaukee get back to the pre-pandemic construction boom.

Are the birds louder / more chatty this Spring?

The birds in our part of Albany Park have really made their presence known this Spring. At virtually every hour of the day, the songbirds are singing or clearly carrying on a conversation. We're really enjoying it.

Anyone else noticing / experiencing this?
