Sci-fi outskirts scenery

Hello again, I am still working hard on my project. I wanted to share a little snapshot of one of the areas of the world I am creating.
A lot of you motivated me so much on my last post, and I got a lot of inspiration. I am grateful to everyone who shows interest in my art and gives me the strength to keep pushing forward.
If you are interested to know more about my project, please ask away.

I am not a professional pixel artist, I just try my best to recreate something in my head, some kind of world I would like to see. I hope you like it.

This took me about 6-7 hours to make.

A little scenery from my game

Hi everyone! I hardly ever share but it took me 1 day to make this and I thought it was pretty nice to share. This is an asset for the game I am developing solo.
I also want to ask a question, do you think 6 hours is too much time to make something like this (design + making)

New intro sequence for my dark sci-fi metroidvania game ISO

I’ve been working on a new intro sequence for Iso, my dark sci-fi metroidvania.

It’s still very early alpha, so nothing here is final, but I’m trying to establish the atmosphere and direction of the opening.

Does it feel too simple, or can you see what I’m going for?

I reworked the backgrounds in my sci-fi Metroidvania. What’s your overall impression of the atmosphere?

The backgrounds felt a little too flat, so I added more parallax layers, stronger contrast, and a tighter color palette.

This is how the game looks now. Does the environment have enough depth?

This area is intentionally very dark. Later areas will have different looks, but here I’m aiming for a mysterious, robotic CRT feel, as if we’re seeing the world through ISO’s optical sensors.

Feedback is welcome!

I turned my game into a retro style metroidvania. Do you think this style has stile appeal or is it a downgrade?

The palette changes according to the area. The idea is that the world is seen through the eyes of the main character, which is an little old robot. Do you think this is a good move? I love retro games but I am afraid people won't play it for its retro look...

I attached a picture of how it looked before. To me it looked a bit anonymous while now it looks it has more personality...

I am happy to read sincere feedbacks, suggestions and advices! Don't worry about going hard on me, this is the only way I can grow! And if you have some nice words for me, they will definitely motivate me to do my best with this!

Thank you in advance everyone!

Game asset background / workflow help T_T my backgrounds look flat and without personality...

I am so sorry for reposting but I am going insane...

My backgrounds look so flat... Looks like the character is basically running along the wall and there is no depth...

Can someone give me some directions on how I can improve? I want the background to be dark kinda hollow knighty style.. Am I messing up the pixel art? proportions? Styles? Details?

What can I reference with this style? I want to use limited palettes and simple shapes... Shall I blur the background (Not the foreground, the wall) with a shader? Help me please T_T

I released the first alpha of Iso, my dark sci-fi Metroidvania I am developing in Godot

print("Hello World!")

I’m working on Iso, a dark sci-fi Metroidvania I’m developing solo in Godot.

I released the first alpha about a month ago, and I’d really love to hear some feedback from people outside my usual corner of the internet.

I’m making this game alone, but I don’t really want the project to grow in complete isolation. Iso is a pretty ambitious thing for me, so having people play it, react to it, point out what feels good, what feels confusing, or what completely breaks their brain would honestly help a lot.

Right now the alpha includes the first block of the game: movement, combat, terminals, modules, enemies, puzzles, and the first version of the world.

I’m currently working on expanding the enemy roster and polishing the code and structure of the game before expanding with new areas, so this felt like a good moment to throw Iso into the wild a bit.

Would love to hear what you think of the mood, the controls, the combat, or anything that stands out.

Unfortunately, it's being really hard to get the project to be noticed... Internet is such a harsh environment for who's just starting out. If you have tips or advices, I am very happy to hear you out on that too.

Play the free alpha here:

I’m documenting the development of Iso on YouTube:

A subscribe, a like, or even just sharing the project helps more than you might think.
Thank you for any support. It really keeps me going.

I released the first alpha of Iso, my dark sci-fi Metroidvania

< LITTLE SHOWCASE >

Game Title:

Iso

Playable Link:

https://setsunaifm.itch.io/iso-the-lone-gear

Platform:

Windows / Browser

Description:

> print("Hello World!")

Iso is a dark sci-fi Metroidvania I’m developing solo in Godot.

The first alpha takes place inside the first block of the Repurpose Center, an industrial facility where Iso "wakes up".

The alpha currently includes movement, combat, Terminal Stations, modules, enemies, puzzles, and the first version of the game world.

Combat is not meant to be a pure power fantasy. Iso is small, fragile, and has to rely on movement, timing, modules, and positioning to survive. The current build includes tools like Hyperdash, Junk Shard, Overstrike, and several boost modules.

I’m mainly looking for feedback on movement feel, combat readability, atmosphere, UI clarity, difficulty, and anything that feels confusing or rough.

Also, if you lose your way at some point, don't panic, it's totally fine. I already have on schedule to work on an openable map system but the level is meant to be a bit mazy.

Free to Play Status:

[x] Free to play

[ ] Demo/Key available

[ ] Paid

Involvement:

I am the solo developer of Iso.

I’m handling the game design, programming, pixel art, music, writing, UI, DevLogs, and probably too many other things for one person with a normal sleep schedule.

I post weekly devlogs on youtube and I truly appreciate any support, comment, subscribe I get from anyone. it really keeps me motivated to keep going and doing my best with this project which is very important.

I’m making this game alone, but I don’t really want the project to grow in complete isolation. Iso is a pretty ambitious thing for me, so having people play it, react to it, point out what feels good, what feels confusing, or what completely breaks their brain would honestly help a lot.
