I'm a week into 1yr Alcohol free and 5yrs Drug free staying positive

I'm a week into 1yr Alcohol free and 5yrs Drug free

Good morning Family I'm grateful to be here finally after numerous rehabs and detoxes.

Today I'm proud of myself that I Love me this go around. In the past I would have given up before I even started.

Today I'm Rocking this out with full confidence that I can keep going, however I do have to keep in mind there are many obstacles and temptations that still lurk in my environment. And I need to be fully aware and alert at all times because I know I am always one day away from relapse. So I have to be fully aware that any day could be the day.

But I will stay the course leaning heavily on my higher power to guide me with full strength and keep me strong.

Well family I'm ok and I am in a good place I will definitely remain humble and not get chaulky like I'm better than someone struggling even though there were those who frowned at me during my time of addiction because they got got clean. I would never and will not size up sobriety to someone else's addiction that is wrong and karma will come back.

Thanx for letting me share have a great and blessed weekend. If your struggling to stay or get clean and sober keep fighting your just one day away.. One Day Forward One Day Behind -Shawn

6dys into 1yr Alcohol free and 5yrs Drug free

Today is another good day I woke up feeling positive. I slept pretty good I didn't wake up with any unpleasant lingering dreams.

My day started out planning what I needed to get done by journaling. This way I don't have to retain whats in my head. It makes it easier so I'm not overwhelmed with info.

Today I plan on helping people who may need some encouragement or uplift today. I plan on buying a meal or 2 for some one in need. I also plan to sit down with someone I think just needs someone to let out there frustrations, someone that's not judgemental that they can relate to.

It's a pretty decent day here in Boston Ma. So I'm going to spend the day out and about looking for someone who may need a shoulder to lean on.

I will approach with caution and humbleness because not everyone wants to open up and talk. I just can't assume just because I feel good that they feel good too. Some people also have mental illnesses so you have to be careful.

Well family with that said have a positive and prosperous day. Thanx for letting me share -One Day Forward One Day Behind -Shawn

I have 83hrs and 28mins being 1yr alcohol free and 5yrs drug free

Good evening family today was a interesting day. I woke up feeling problem free. There was actually nothing on my mind that would of send me over edge normally.

I didn't wake up off and on all night prolonging the morning dreading the beginning of the day I slept through the entire night. I woke up feeling pretty refreshed. I couldn't wait to get the day started to see what's in store for my sobriety journey.

I began to start journaling on this tool I created. I started off with how I felt this morning and entered it into my tool. I felt pretty good instead of trying to retain it in my head. So I got through the morning with entering how I was feeling through out the morning. Then I read it back to myself treating it like my morning therapy.

See when I was drinking and drugging I would talk to myself but I was giving myself the wrong advice and that was how am I going to get money on how to use or drink, my mind stayed scrambling all the time. So today I talk out loud to myself with a clear mind and I get better answers I found talking out loud to yourself you get better results as well as people thinking your crazy LOL!!! But it worx.

Over all I'm starting out right on this next phase of my recovery journey, I had a saying back when I was using and drinking. It was start right end right start wrong end wrong. So the short of it I always started out wrong and it ended wrong.

So the moral of that story try to start out right with everything you do you will have a better results percentage.

With that said family I'm feeling pretty positive I feel like I'm officially starting my life over. So if you struggling to get or stay sober you can do it just trust the process If I can you can because I was a mess. Thanx for letting me share One Day Forward One Day Behind -Shawn

Fresh Start 49hr and 48mins 1yr Alcohol free and 5yrs Drug free

2moro is the beginning of buckling down I celebrated and I'm over it.

I plan on continuing to build my sobriety so that it is unbreakable. I plan to exhibit discipline this next stage I plan on treating my sobriety like going to the gym.

Adding more weight to get stronger to where it becomes a regular routine to keep building on my sobriety. I can't take no days off because I become weak. So in others words if I continued to miss days showing up for my sobriety I run the risk of weakness torwards temptation.

So I have to keep my membership up to date with my sobriety. That means rest, eating right and being fully hydrated at all times. If I can stick to this regiment I think I will be good.

I know this next phase is going to be filled with daily temptations and obstacles that I must be strong enough to conquer what's in front of me.

With that family wish me best of luck. Also if your struggling to get or stay clean you can do it if I can you can and trust me I was a hot mess. Thank you for letter me share, One Day Forward One Day Behind -Shawn

Countdown Update 0dys 2hrs and 34mins until 1yr Alcohol free and 5yrs Drug free

Just checking in family with an update I just wanna thank all for the encouraging comments and support it means a lot.

I'm not celebrating yet because I'm not there yet.But however it's about to get real after these milestones, and harder work becomes more challenging which I'm aware of. So I'm going to celebrate with humbleness thanking my higher power for getting me this close. I am truly grateful after many tries I'm closer than I've even been in my lifetime.

With the help of my higher power I plan to go into this next phase with integrity and building my discipline and taking action on not what I say but actions on doing. I learned to Love myself instead of the bad side of me bullying my good side and making me turn on myself. My bad side always intimidated the good side to do wrong even when I didn't want to.

But now that I'm sober and drug free and stronger Im able to stand up to the bad side and not back down, which feels so great to hold my head up high instead holding down.

So with said I'm going to try to better for myself and appreciate me, I'm not ashamed to show up now for you or myself.

With that said if your struggle to get clean or sober try to never give up on yourself I know it's easy to do because we don't want to deal, but you me we deserve happiness you me we deserve to get on the other side of this and if nobody has told u that they Love u lately I Love you keep pushing Champions and Champiettes the bell didn't ring yet. 1day 1hr and 32mins until 1yr Alcohol free and 5yrs Drug free

I'm almost there thanx for all the support and encouraging comments I appreciate you.

For those still struggling to get sober or stay sober keep pushing don't give up you going to get there before you know it just lean or your higher power and a little bit of faith it really helps it's gotten me this close so you can do it to if your still struggling.

However Im not out the woods yet because this is a lifetime choice I've signed up for because I caused this all on my own. So this work is for the life of my sobriety that I have to keep alive. I say that to say this I did it to myself so I must man up and own it.

This upcoming milestones I plan to do better and work harder so it eventually becomes clock work just like when I was a addict and alcoholic because I definitely showed up for drugs or alcohol faithfully.

So why can't I show up for myself and my sobriety faithfully I know it sounds easier than done but the effort I put in to that stuff I need to put in effort staying sober and drug free.

The only problem it seems easier to do the wrong thing instead of the right thing and I then excepted the consequences without a problem I wish I could have made my consequences a good outcome instead of bad.

Well with that said I don't want to drag out my post cause I could go on and on. So family keep pushing you can get through it if I can you can. Thank you for letting me share-Shawn

1dy 14hrs and 50mins until I'm 1yr Alcohol free and 5yrs Drug free.

Today I woke up feeling grateful as I do every morning thanking my higher power for letting me Wake up list.

However today is a little different because I woke up in my feelings and actually didn't know how to feel as my upcoming milestones nears.

I'm having mixed emotions daily as I get nearer to my upcoming milestones. I don't know whether to be happy or cry of joy permitting my high power blessss me to make it.

I'm a bit sadden because of the ones I left behind that were actually really good people who just lost there way and didn't possess the strength to come up out of this disease. It's sad that we can't celebrate 2gether. Some are still here and some passed on but I miss them all dearly.

I know I'm in a different place in my life of improving myself but it doesn't make me any better than the ones still struggling, and I say this with a humble heart. Again I say that to say this the people I met during the time of my addiction were better than some of the normal people in my life now. Solid and Loyal I might add not all but a good amount.

So today I'm in my feelings with mixed emotions as too do I really deserve this? And that answer is yes I do. I'm just trying to do better with the next half of my life.

Help me count down 1 week 2days from being 1yr Alcohol free and 5yrs Drug free come October

Good morning family Happy Wednesday and feeling happy for me I'm not as nervous as I was coming into my milestones because of all your relieving comments I received and I thank you dearly.

I'm feeling pretty motivated for the upcoming level of work I realized just because Im 1yr alcohol free and 5yrs drug free come October doesnt mean my work is done. It's actually just beginning. I would guess the Cinderella stage is over and the real work begins.

I'm really motived on exploring the Bill Wilson way that a nice woman on here shared with me along with the uplifting comments from another beautiful lady I guess i would say that its preparing me for the Big Book that many of you have suggested.

Well with that said I wish my family here in the community a beautiful and prosperous day.

5yrs drug free 1wk 3dys from 1 yr alcohol free

Good afternoon family and thank you for the words of encouragement. Your words lightened my anxiety about my upcoming milestones. I took my time reading all your comments.

\> I'm about to celebrate 1 year alcohol free and 5 years drug free. But I need to step up to the next level of my sobriety, and that's building structure in my life. And yes, you called it — that's the Big Book.

\> I have no structure at all right now. No order. I realized just because I'm sober doesn't mean I stop bettering myself. My actions and habits are still of an unsober person.

\> So yes, celebrate these milestones, but really dig deep. It's like graduating to the next grade where the work gets harder.

\> Well family that's all I have today, just counting down. Am I looking at it better than I did before?

Count down family One week 3dys until 1yr Sober and 5yrs drug free

Good morning family and thank you for the words of encouragement.

Again thank you again your words have lightened my anxiety on my upcoming milestones. I took my time reading all your pleasant comments.

So I am going to celebrate my 1yr milestone alcohol free and 5yrs drug free. However I do need to step up to the plate and enter another level of my sobriety, and that's building some structure in my life, and yes you called it and that's the Big Book.

I need to build and structure my life because I have no structure at all. I need some order in my life. I realized that just because I'm sober doesn't mean I stop bettering myself. I still need some major work to have some law and order, because my actions and habits are still of a unsober person.

So these upcoming milestones, yes celebrate but really dig deep. I guess I would say it's like graduating to the next grade and the work gets harder, so I'm going to use that inaligey.

Well fowlkes that's all I have today but the count down. What do you think family am I looking at it better than I previously did. Well family thanx for letting me share and if you want to know a little bit more about me see **my full story is in my bio. One Day Forward One Day Behind. -**Shawn

1 week and 3 days until I am 5yrs Drug free and 1yr Alcohol free

I'm pretty excited for these upcoming milestones but nervous because in the past I was only able to reach 25:days alcohol free for some reason or another that was the magic number more than one time of alcohol relapse

Also as I said previous post I also have issues with the seasonal change here in Boston Ma.the gloomy setting and cold weather If anyone knows Boston it seems as though all of Boston has seasonal issue because everyone is miserable and I mean everyone out, of towners call us Miserable Massholes Lol.

But for me it reminds me of when I relapsed on drugs numerous times. But not sure if its in any relation to alcohol but I'm feeling the same vibe though not sure if anyone can relate I'm sure you can.

Well family I don't want to bore you with the same similar story as last time but it's the only way I can cope by letting it out. Well if you can put in a good word for me with the higher power I would appreciate it.

Making it through the weekend

Good afternoon, My name is Shawn recovering drug addict/alcoholic.

Today marks 5yrs drug-free and come October 2 I will 1yr Alcohol free. Well today I struggle with it being the weekend and also the seasonal change here in New England.

Not sure if anyone goes through the seasonal change and if it brings them down. Cause it sure does to me. I'm fighting the thoughts of relapse because around this time I relapsed in the past. So I'm kind of feeling the same with alcohol because I've had numerous relapses off drugs.

Not sure if its the same for booze because I never quit the only time I would lower my alcohol intake it was due to the choice of drug I was on without going into detail.

Well with that said if your struggling with the seasonal change and getting through the weekend. Please hang in there you can do this.

Thank you for letting me share - One Day at a Time-Shawn

To those struggling to make it through the weekend sober try to hang in there. I know it can be tough but I think you can make it through. I myself struggle through the weekends especially that the season is changing hear in New England.

I have struggled for years because of the seasonal change I get very depressed this will be my 1st fall season sober Ive been clean for 5yrs from drugs and 1 year this October from Alcohol.

It's going to be tough because when season hits it reminds me of when I relapsed to drugs and alcohol. It's the weather for me the gloomy cold days winter months ext.

Shifting from "white-knuckling" sobriety to visual design: How building a private dark-mode interface helped me quiet my late-night brain at 11 months alcohol-free.

I needed to change my visual environment.

Hey everyone, just wanted to check in on a random Wednesday afternoon with a strategy that has completely changed how I look at recovery. I am currently 5 years clean from substances and hitting my 1-year alcohol-free milestone this October.

For the first few months, staying sober while living in a house with a partner who still drinks heavily felt like an exhausting, daily mental battle. White-knuckling through the late-night anxiety when she came home intoxicated was completely draining my energ

I finally realized I needed a cognitive shift—instead of just using willpower.

I spent the last few months pouring all my anxious, late-night energy into designing a private, dark-mode visual dashboard just for myself. I built it specifically to gamify my savings, secure my boundary logs, and use visual tracking to give my brain an immediate, rewarding hit of dopamine whenever a craving spikes.

Turning my recovery into a clean, beautiful interactive interface has completely quieted the static in my head.

If anyone else in the community feels like willpower alone isn't cutting it, or if you're trying to stay mindful in a chaotic home environment, I'd love to connect. If you want to see the layout of the visual system I use to protect my peace, drop a comment or shoot me a DM. Just sharing what saved my sanity. One day at a time. - Shawn
