Pro1 thermostat reading 'LO'

Hello, I have a Pro1 T855iSH thermostat. My AC is turned on and I have the temperature set to 77F and held there (no schedule).

I just walked by my thermostat while the AC was not running and noticed that 'LO' was displayed. I walked back to my laptop to look up what that could mean and couldn't find anything in the either manual online. By the time I walked a back a few minutes later, it was gone and everything looked back to normal.

I pulled it off the wall and put it back on and the AC kicked on. Since then it has run like normal and is blowing cold air.

Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks.

Just some appreciation...

I've been an avid lover of post rock for years and only this year given Talk Talk a chance.

Spirit of Eden and particularly Laughing Stock are two of the best records ever made. When I die I really hope that somehow I can hear New Grass one more time.

You all know how great these records are but it's been a tough year and these have been an enormous comfort for me.

Throttle cuts out after WOT

Hello,

I have a new Kawasaki W230 that I've been riding for a few weeks. I'm past the break in period so I've started riding the bike a little more aggressively and noticed something.

If I open the throttle wide open and the RPMs are high enough, if I close the throttle slightly there's a hesitation that almost feels like something cutting out before the RPMs pick back up. This feels like kind of a lurch when it happens.

I had a KLX230 that was governed at 75mph and it feels pretty much exactly like that did when you hit that speed, but I only remember that bike doing it at that speed in 6th gear. This W230 will do it in basically any gear if you go wide open and then close the throttle slightly. I tried at different RPMs in different gears and it seems less noticeable or nonexistant at lower RPM.

If I hold the throttle wide open the bike either keeps pulling or tops out depending on which gear I'm in and the grade of the road. If you hold WOT, close the throttle and open again, it also doesn't hesitate. If you hold WOT and pull the clutch in as you close the throttle it also doesn't hesitate.

It only does it if you close slightly and let the bike pick itself back up. It feels kind of like if you were riding down hill with the clutch pulled in and then dumped the clutch.

Could there be something in the ECU that cuts fuel for an instant after coming of WOT?

Thanks for any insight.

Where to start with getting help?

Hello, I'm sure this gets asked a ton here...

I have been having kind of a tough year and recently had a family member mention that going to therapy and getting on medication has helped them immensely so I'm considering taking the first step to getting help. Primarily for depression but also some OCD tendencies that I'm noticing are getting worse and starting to effect my day-to-day life.

But I'm not sure where to start.

I have insurance but I'm paying everything until I hit my deductible. I also have an HSA though that I could pay with so cost isn't completely prohibitive.

The real issue is probably more that with my work schedule I can't exactly be going to an appointment every week and I'm not really comfortable with the idea of video sessions.

Does it make sense to start with a PCP and try antidepressants first? Or would starting with a therapist and going every 2-3 weeks be enough to make a difference? If starting therapy, is there any real method to choosing a therapist?

Shinko 244 vs Kenda K270 vs IRC GP1

To my untrained eye these all look like basically the same tread. Is there one of these that stands out as better than the others? Is one of them better on pavement vs the others?

W230

Anyone have one of these?

I've been looking for something like a bigger Monkey and this seems like exactly that. Only thing that gives me some pause is there doesn't seem to be any real aftermarket support (I get that it's an entry level bike but it'd be great to throw some springs in the fork or something).

I've ridden the 230s so I have some experience with the motor and the power/speed are not an issue for me. Seems like it could be a fun little bike...

They don't seem very popular so I'm just wondering if anyone's actually ridden one and has anything to say good or bad?

5 speed transmission whine

Hello,

Sorry if this has been adressed but I didn't see any updates to an older thread on this issue.

I just bought a used 2022 Monkey with the 5 speed transmission (same as the Grom). Obviously while test riding the bike I didn't want to hammer it in front of the owner so I putted around and shifted through all of the gears and it seemed fine.

The bike is practically new with less than 300 miles on it.

I rode it home (about 15 miles) and I wasn't hammering on it super hard, but I was riding about 50mph pretty consistently and noticed a whine coming from somewhere. I thought it was tire noise, but when I stopped at a light and shifted down into second, the noise disappeared and then didn't come back the rest of the ride.

This seems consistent with the people talking about the Grom transmission scream and it sounded pretty similar to the videos I've watched (but it's hard to tell from a video). The noise going away when shifting into second seems to be consistent across the bikes that have this problem.

What would be the best way forward here? The guy I bought the bike from was not thrashing it and would have had no idea. But obviously the bike is out of warranty and I don't exactly want to pay for a complete overhaul of a nearly new bike.

Thanks.

Edit: wanted to add that I put almost 5k miles on a 4 speed monkey before this. I've ridden bikes forever and feel confident what I was hearing wasn't tire noise, chain noise, or anything like that

Ant swarm inside

I've been renovating a basement room that has a couple foundation walls. I've had all the sheetrock off and never saw any sign of ants anywhere.

Once I go the sheetrock back on, I noticed in one section I was getting ants along the floor. I sprayed along that wall and got a lot of dead ants out of it after a week or so and then stopped seeing them.

I started painting yesterday, and woke up to this in the window directly above the room I'm working on.

I vacuumed them up and have sprayed and placed baits, but I'm concerned about the potential of a colony living in the wall somewhere.

Thoughts? Thanks.

Second picture is what I was seeing a while ago that stopped. Since this is the same relative location (just basement vs. main level) I'm thinking they could be related?

Any way to easily tell if these are carpenter ants?

Edit: I've also seen no evidence of water damage anywhere. This is also a family house with no prior history of bug damage.

ISO 52 Straggler frame

I'm searching for a size 52 Straggler frame (650b). Any color, but one of the OG frames and not this new gen. that Surly is selling.

Would prefer used but haven't even found a new one listed anywhere.

Talk Talk

I think I posted a loooong time ago looking for any other bands that sounded anything like Do Make Say Think. The last three DMST records are some of my favorites (Other Truths in particular).

I got a few good recs, but I've always still had a DMST shaped hole in my heart.

But last week I finally listened to those couple of Talk Talk records that everyone talks about, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock. These records are the closest I've found to scratching that itch. Both are incredible, but 'New Grass' in particular might be one of the greatest things I've ever heard.

Perfect music. Deep, tough to parse lyrics. It doesn't get better.

RIP Mark Hollis. I'm so sorry I never knew your music while you were still with us.

I'm replacing the gasket on my cam chain tensioner and noticed there's a small round gasket under the bolt that covers the hole where you use a screwdriver to screw the tensioner out.

When I took the bolt out, the round gasket came apart in pieces.

Can I use gasket maker on this? I can't buy the gasket separately wouthout getting an entire tensioner.

Thanks.
