pretty sure i've planned about two weeks of london into seven days

the trip isn't even here yet and i'm already looking at my london itinerary wondering who i think i am.

my partner and i are visiting london for the first time and will be there for a week from november 7 and its my birthday to november 14, we're staying near heathrow at the beginning, then moving closer to hyde park and kensington palace, so i'm trying to group things by area instead of wasting half the trip on the tube.

we've got most of the obvious things to do in london on the list: tower of london, tower bridge, big ben, buckingham palace, london eye, british museum, national gallery, natural history museum, borough market, sky garden, soho, chinatown, brick lane, camden, and shoreditch.

food is also a huge part of the trip for us. definitely planning on an english breakfast, sunday roast, fish and chips, borough market snacks, and whatever other london food people think is worth going out of the way for.

if you had one week in london, what would make your must-do list? any london attractions that are overrated enough to skip?

mostly looking for practical london travel tips and ways to make this itinerary less insane.

one employee moving countries somehow turned into a crash course on global employment

i've been trying to figure out how to keep my current job while relocating abroad, and the work itself isn't the problem. my company is perfectly happy for me to remain remote.

the complication is that they don't have a legal entity in the country i want to move to. rather than asking them to set one up, i've been researching employer of record services and trying to make the case that an eor could handle the complicated parts of international.

on paper, it sounds straightforward: the eor provider becomes the legal employer and handles global payroll, taxes, benefits, employment contracts, and compliance with local labor laws. my company would still manage my work like they do now.

what i'm trying to understand is the employer's actual workload.

once the employee onboarding is done, does using an employer of record mean the company mostly just pays a monthly invoice and handles normal management?

or are there still recurring tasks around international payroll, employment compliance, reporting, or other admin that companies should expect?

would especially appreciate input from anyone who's used deel, remofirst or another eor for a single remote employee.

why are hair growth devices either £50 or £800?

i've been looking into red light therapy for hair loss because my hair has been thinning a bit around the crown, and i'm honestly confused by the pricing.

there are red light therapy caps, laser caps, helmets, combs, and all these different at-home hair growth devices. some are under £100 while others cost hundreds or even thousands.

i keep seeing terms like LLLT, low level laser therapy, 650nm, LED, laser diodes and photobiomodulation but i'm not technical enough to know which of those actually matter.

i'm not expecting some miracle hair regrowth overnight. i'd just like something legitimate that might help with hair growth if i use it consistently.

for anyone who's actually used red light therapy for hair growth what device did you buy and how much did you spend?

are the cheaper red light therapy caps worth considering, or is this one of those things where paying more actually gets you a better device?

we finally outgrew hiring contractors overseas.

when we started our saas company in seattle, washington, hiring contractors in europe made the most sense.

now our business has grown, and we'd like to officially hire employees in europe instead of continuing with contractor agreements.

we're comparing different employer of record (eor) platforms because we need help with global hiring, global payroll, international payroll, hr compliance, employment contracts, and local labor law requirements.

for founders who have already gone through this process, how smooth was the transition?

did your eor handle everything from employee onboarding to payroll compliance, or did you still have a lot of paperwork on your side?

has anyone actually seen google ads work for a restaurant?

i've been debating this with a coworker all week.

for a fine dining restaurant or even a higher-end neighborhood spot, i'm not convinced google ads for restaurants or ppc for restaurants is where i'd spend the budget.

my gut says i'd invest more into restaurant seo, local seo for restaurants, an optimized google business profile, restaurant social media marketing, email marketing for restaurants, and building a stronger restaurant branding strategy before worrying about paid traffic.

maybe facebook ads for restaurants or instagram ads for restaurants make more sense because they're visual, but i'm curious what people with actual restaurant clients have experienced.

does your restaurant marketing strategy change if it's a brand-new restaurant versus one that's already established?

Hiring my first employee has turned out to be way more complicated than finding the work

Business has been steadily growing, and I'm finally at the point where I can't keep doing everything myself. I run a small LLC in Austin, Texas and I'm looking at hiring my first full-time remote employee sometime in the next month or two.

I've been researching Employer of Record (EOR) providers because I like the idea of letting someone else handle global payroll, payroll compliance, employee onboarding, employment contracts, and the HR side of things instead of figuring it all out myself.

The plan is to start with just one person, but if things continue growing, I'd probably expand my remote team to 2-3 employees.

For those using EOR services on a really small scale:

  • Which provider did you choose?
  • How accurate was the EOR pricing compared to what you actually paid?
  • Was onboarding quick?
  • Could you pay bonuses?
  • If business slowed down, was it easy to end the employment?

The flights are booked now I'm second guessing all whats going to happen

We'll be landing at heathrow in a couple of days for our first time in London, and I want to make the trip as easy as possible since I'm traveling with my mom.

We're staying near victoria so I'm comparing Uber with the elizabeth line, heathrow express and the london underground for getting from heathrow to central london. Is there one option that's noticeably easier with luggage?

I'm also trying to figure out whether citymapper London is better than Google Maps and if most visitors just use contactless payment instead of buying an oyster card.

If you also have recommendations for London food, best restaurants in London or any London travel guide suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

The more we grow, the more complicated hiring has become

We started as a small US based digital marketing consultancy but now most of our client work comes from outside the country, so it finally makes sense to build a remote team instead of hiring contractors for everything.

I've been comparing EOR services because managing international hiring on our own seems overwhelming.

Every country has different employment rules, tax requirements, benefits and compliance standards, and I don't really want to risk making expensive mistakes.

An EOR seems like it could simplify global employment, international payroll, payroll outsourcing, employee onboarding and HR compliance, but there are so many providers that they all start to sound the same.

Has anyone here used an EOR for hire remote employees across multiple countries?

Which platform gave you the smoothest experience?

My thighs are winning this battle every summer

Every time the weather warms up, I end up dealing with thigh chafing again, and it's gotten to the point where it's the main thing I think about when buying clothes.

I've tried compression shorts because they do prevent rubbing but they're honestly too tight for everyday wear.

After a few hours I just want to take them off. What I'm really after is underwear for big thighs that's comfortable enough for work, weekends, and travel while still preventing chafing.

I've been looking at bamboo underwear, long leg boxer briefs, athletic underwear and moisture wicking underwear but there are so many brands claiming to make the best underwear for men that it's hard to know what's actually worth buying.

What's been your go to that has actually held up after months of wearing and washing?

Everyone seems to recommend a different part of London

I've spent the last few days reading travel blogs about the best neighborhoods in London, and every article recommends a completely different area.

We'll be visiting for the first time this summer and care much more about London nightlife, restaurants, pubs, shopping and walkable neighborhoods than major tourist attractions.

We're hoping to stay somewhere with easy Tube access but still feels like a neighborhood where locals hang out.

Right now Shoreditch, Soho, Islington and Notting Hill are all on my shortlist.

If you had to pick one area for a couple visiting London for the first time, which would you choose?

EOR UK vs opening a local entity?

I own a cybersecurity startup in Seattle, Washington, and we're planning to hire remote employees in the UK over the next few months.

I'm trying to decide whether it's worth using an Employer of Record UK or just opening a local entity from the beginning.

The EOR route seems attractive since it covers UK payroll, global payroll, employment contracts, employee onboarding, payroll compliance, employee benefits and UK employment law compliance.

Has anyone compared the long-term cost of an EOR UK versus running everything yourself?

Would love to hear what worked best for your company

How would you target restaurant owners on fb?

I'm building campaigns for a few local restaurants and need help with audience selection.

The goal is reaching restaurant owners who may need help with restaurant marketing, restaurant social media marketing, and customer acquisition.

Right now I'm testing facebook ads for restaurants but I'm not sure whether to focus on interests, job titles, lookalikes or location targeting.

If you've run restaurant digital marketing campaigns before what targeting has produced the best results?

Best way to stop inner thigh chafing?

Anyone found something that actually helps with inner thigh chafing?

Hot weather has been rough and after long walks or busy days, I end up with skin irritation, redness, and that painful friction rash feeling. I’ve been looking into different anti chafe products and keep seeing people talk about using a chafing stick.

Does an anti chafing stick actually prevent chub rub or do you need something else like compression shorts or better underwear?

I’m trying to figure out if the best anti chafing stick is worth buying or if anti chafe underwear is the better solution.

What worked best for you?

Need advice on my London itinerary for 4 days

I'm working on my London itinerary and could use some feedback from people who know the city better.

We're flying into Heathrow and trying to figure out the best way from Heathrow to London before dropping bags at our hotel in Covent Garden.

I'm hoping to see most of the famous London attractions but I don't want the trip to feel like we're just rushing around.

Current plan includes:

  • Buckingham Palace tour
  • Westminster Abbey tickets
  • Big Ben London
  • London Eye tickets
  • Tower of London tickets
  • Tower Bridge London
  • London museums
  • Camden Market
  • West End shows London

Would you change anything?

Also curious if the London Pass is worth it for a short trip or if we should just pay individually.

Should I switch to press on nails instead of getting gel manicures?

I've been spending around $70-90 every few weeks on gel manicures, and I'm starting to wonder if I should just switch to press on nails instead.

I've noticed there are so many options now, from luxury press on nails and handmade press on nails to more affordable brands at Target and Walgreens. Some even claim they're salon quality press on nails that last 2+ weeks.

For those who wear them regularly, are they actually worth it?

What's the best press on nails brand you've tried, and what nail glue for press on nails do you recommend?

Also curious if buying a complete press on nail kit is worth it, or if you just buy the nails and glue separately.

Any tips for how to apply press on nails, how to make press on nails last, and how to remove press on nails without damaging your natural nails?

Any plans to improve DeFi portfolio tracking?

I've tested quite a few crypto portfolio trackers and this one has become my favorite because the wallet connections are stable and the UI is pretty clean.

The biggest thing I'm missing is deeper defi tracking.

I'd love to see support for lido staking, steth, ethereum staking rewards, yield farming and other liquid staking assets without needing another tracker.

Having crypto yield tracking, a dedicated staking rewards tracker and better portfolio analytics would make it much easier to monitor long term performance.

Curious if this is something the team is already working on

Has anyone used an Employer of Record instead of opening a company in China?

I was originally researching what it takes to start a company in China, mostly because I wanted a legal way to work there long term.

While researching, I kept running into employer of record services that claim they can handle work visas, local payroll, tax filings, compliance requirements, and employment contracts without you needing to establish your own entity.

It almost sounds too simple, which makes me wonder what the catch is.

For people who have actually gone this route, what was your experience?

Were there any limitations compared to running your own company?

Was the payroll and compliance side handled well, and did the work visa process go smoothly?

Trying to understand whether this is a realistic long-term solution or more of a temporary setup.

Am I the only one losing confidence in SEO lately?

I've worked in SEO long enough to know there are ups and downs, but recently I've found myself questioning things more than ever.

The search landscape feels different. AI is changing how people find information, rankings seem more volatile, and sometimes the results don't match what I'd expect at all.

The pressure is even worse when clients want answers and all I can really say is we need more data.

Anyone else feeling a little overwhelmed by where SEO is heading, or is it just part of the job now?

How do you make sticky tabs last as long as possible? Trying to avoid nail glue due to an allergy

Recently diagnosed with a cyanoacrylate allergy and dealing with eczema flare-ups that got worse every time I used regular nail glue.

Have to fully switch over to adhesive tabs for press on nails for a while and trying to learn the technique properly instead of just winging it.

I know how long sticky tabs last varies a lot by brand and application but I'm wondering if there are real techniques that extend wear time. Things like prepping the nail differently than you would for glue, pressing technique or even layering tabs for extra hold on fingers that take more daily abuse.

Also curious if anyone has found press on nails for sensitive skin that pair well with tabs specifically, since I assume not every brand's underside texture bonds the same way with adhesive tabs.

Trying to get as close to the over a month wear time I used to get with glue but I know that might not be realistic with tabs alone.

How much overcollateralization is actually normal for crypto loans these days?

New to crypto loans and trying to understand what's a reasonable ask versus a red flag.

Seen LTV ratios ranging anywhere from 40% up to even higher on some platforms and I'm trying to figure out crypto loan LTV ratio explained in practical terms like what does 50% LTV actually mean for my risk if the market drops?

Also seeing a wide range in crypto loan interest rates comparison depending on the LTV tier lower LTV generally gets you a better rate which makes sense but the gap between tiers seems bigger on some platforms than others.

For over collateralized crypto loans specifically, is there a sweet spot LTV that balances getting enough liquidity without being one bad day away from liquidation?

What LTV do people here actually use?
