We need to make Food Delivery Platforms to take responsibility for quality

The food quality of restaurants is degrading day by day, sometimes it’s just disgusting.

I ordered snacks from a bakery as they displayed hygienic items, but the items themselves smelled stale and were in a very bad condition. After a few months, I ordered again, giving them the benefit of the doubt, but had the same experience.

These platforms charge all kinds of fees. Shouldn’t they also take some responsibility for the restaurants they allow on their platform?

They just care about commissions and leave the customer to deal with bad quality food.

At least the government should impose such rules on these platforms.

Live-ins are becoming mainstream. What about divorce?

Live-in relationships are becoming increasingly mainstream, but divorced people are still often viewed as “second-hand” in the marriage.

If someone can have a serious live-in relationship, live with a partner, and later move on, why is a previous marriage viewed so differently?

Should we rethink how we view divorce and divorced people?

How do I make an electric guitar sound like this.

Current level: I've been practicing guitar for almost 2 years. I can play melodious from Ilayaraja and AR rehaman on classical guitar.

I have not much exposure to electric guitar, but I want to play carnatic music on guitar like in that YouTube video.

I recently bought an electric guitar with a portable amplifier, but the sound is nowhere near. I mean that long sustainable notes. I agree the skill level matters but i wanted suggestions on the set up and gare I can use to sound like this so i can practice and improve.

Why is it so hard to find a reliable salon?

For the last 10 years, I have visited many salons, but I've never found one that's truly reliable. Here are the most common problems I've come across in almost all of them.

Skills: Usually, only one person is good mostly the owner and they're always occupied or unavailable. All the other workers are below average in skill.

For the beard, they can't even keep the same shape on both sides. I almost always end up with uneven sides. Another problem is consistency. Every time I get a haircut, the hairstyle turns out different. It's never the same.

Language: This is one of the biggest problems. We can't properly explain what we want, and we certainly can't understand what they're saying. When something goes wrong, the owner's first excuse is always that the worker doesn't know the language.

Price: I don't know why these people are charging ridiculous prices. ₹450 for a haircut, ₹1,200 for hair colour, ₹180 for a beard trim, ₹500 for beard colour. Most salons charge premium prices as if they're high-end shops.

Ambience: This is the only thing that's surprisingly good. But many small, greedy salons use the nice ambience as an excuse to charge a high premium for low-quality service.

Reviews: Google reviews are flooded with fake five-star ratings. I don't know why it's even tolerated. Most genuine reviews end up getting buried under them.

Worst of all: They keep asking if we want facials, insisting they'll make our face glow. They don't leave us alone until we seriously say no. Strangely, this is the one time their language skills suddenly become excellent.

Maybe I've just had bad luck, but finding a salon that's actually reliable and charges fairly feels much harder than it should be.

My experience with emotional neglect doesn't match the stories I hear.

One of my friends is going through a divorce after a love marriage. She once told me she fell for her husband because he said he was emotionally neglected, overlooked, and had a poor relationship with his mother. Later, she realized he actually had a fairly normal relationship with his family.

It got me thinking.

By that logic, I should have had half a dozen girlfriends. I never had one. It's not because I'm ugly. I grew up in a low-resource family. Our monthly income was around ₹1,500 (about $30 at the time). In families like mine, affection isn't always the priority. Everyone is busy trying to survive the month. In many low-resource families, one child is pushed forward while another is overlooked. In my case, I was again the unlucky one.

From my own life, and from the people I've known with similar backgrounds, I've noticed something. The people who experienced deep emotional neglect rarely spoke about it. They didn't know how to ask for love, they don't know how to express love, because they were never taught how. They kept people at arm's length. The moment someone got too close, they pulled away.

When someone describes themselves as emotionally neglected, they've more often gone through a few emotionally stressful situations than a childhood defined by emotional neglect.

Compassion is admirable. But don't assume that someone who talks about being emotionally damaged is someone who needs saving. the people who grew up with deep emotional neglect rarely know how to ask for love in the first place.

The Startup Killer that No Founder Wants to Talk About.

Most startup postmortems focus on product-market fit, timing, or regulation.

But I've seen well-funded startups where the management looked something like this:

  1. One guy randomly fire people to make himself feel powerful.

  2. Another guy seemed to be the only one who actually benefited from using the word "inclusion."

A startup with a real product and plenty of funding can still fail. From the outside, it's easy to blame the market. From the inside, the reasons can look very different.

[Research] What commercial property should I buy with a 50–70L budget for rental income?

I'm looking to buy a commercial property, such as a shutter shop or a small commercial unit, to generate steady rental cash flow. I want to know a few things.

  1. What kind of property I can get under this budget and Where do you usually find listings for commercial properties like these?

  2. What are the biggest risks with this type of investment? One concern I have is road widening/road extension projects affecting the property.

  3. If you own a commercial property, how has your experience been?

  4. What is the typical brokerage charged on commercial property transactions?

Any advice, experiences, or things you wish you had known before buying would be appreciated.

Does new age indian startups gone from solving problems to squeezing the middle class?

Rapido/Uber started by connecting drivers and users now only targeting to charge maximum price for minimum distance from people.

Zomato/Swiggy started as ease of ordering food and making more restaurants reach food lovers is now targeting to optimise maximum birnay price that people can afford.

Pranto/Urben company started supplying maids is in the exact same path to comodify house help.

A post like this from a well known VC makes middle class people eventually can't even go to the barber on weekends?

It feels like the middle class is being squeezed from every direction. Is this how we are building start ups in india?
