There’s nothing worse than feeling like living is harder than dying

One day I woke up, the next I was living in my nightmare. The cycle has been extremely hard to get through. Booze makes everything worse yet i can’t stop. the self destructive cycle is real and hard to get past without the hope of a better life

Why hasn’t cranberry made a return

Seems like so many people here love it as much as I do. Watermelon is good but doesn’t hold a candle to cranberry. That and grapefruit need to come back.

“Put a fuckin bullet in my head”. What tracks are memorable because of one line

Counterparts - Monument is the first track that comes to mind

Also

Like Moths to Flames - I solemnly swear: “What I really need is for you to go fuck yourself“

Edit: A lot of boundaries, architects and every time I die love. love it.

Like moths to flames has only gotten better

This is just a glaze for LMTF. It’s rare nowadays that a band that’s this mature to be releasing their best music. Everything from Pure Like Porcelain on has been unreal. New EP is insane

Invent animate has the cleanest transition of vocalists

Marcus is great. Ben is great. Yea they sound like different vocalists but the change was not jarring at all. Ill listen to a few songs off Stillworld and then Greyview and I swear sometimes I feel like I’m listening to the same vocalist. Cleans are the biggest difference.

What metalcore means to me

Ive been listening to metalcore for the last decade. Started with Bring me the horizon and going deeper and deeper as time went on. This genre has been a huge outlet for me. I was going to dozens of shows a year, spam listening to the new albums as they came out. Getting excited over new releases. My friend and I were getting into the genre together. We went in our first mosh pit together, gushed about all the new releases. It became a huge part of my life.

I met a girl through a mutual friend going to concerts. We grew close and ended up getting together. My favorite band is invent animate. And man did I non stop talk about them. She would give me shit (jokingly) about the band and how I considered them my “religion”. Then one day I forced my friend and her to listen to the sun sleeps in the car ride home. And that was it, they were converted.

Our relationship was built on concerts and this music. Last year she broke up with me. That’s a whole story but let’s just say it was “traumatic” for me.

Post breakup, it been so much harder for me to listen to metalcore since I have so many associated memories with her. Ive got OCD so my mind hangs onto a lot of memories and painful things. I start to think, go down a loop and breakdown. So I’ve tried to kind of stay away from the music we listened to, concerts etc.. Along this time not only did I lose her but I lost a piece of me that was around a lot longer than she was. It was like my two biggest obsessions disappeared at once and that has really affected me.

Im finally getting to the point where im taking back a piece of me that should have never left. Ive been posting a lot on this subreddit. Trying to listen to new things, associate new memories with the music and stop myself from going down the mental rabbit holes that I’ve gone down previously. I want to say thank you to the community and the artists for the music they create does have an impact.

Lets discuss the pain written in the lyrics in this genre

The more I listen, the more I hear. I think it takes some trauma or past life experience to truly connect with a song on a deeper level. It brings us closer to the lyrics. Closer to the people who enjoy it. A lot of us are fucked up in one way or another. I hate to admit it but I am one of these people that couldn't 100% see the forest for the trees. A series of events has broken me, which has allowed me to find new meaning in some of my favorite songs.

Ive talked with family in the past about moshing. They look at me like im crazy for participating in that sort of activity. I guess I never thought anything about that. At the same time Ive brought friends into the pit and have seen them be absolutely engulfed with it and finding some catharsis in it.

We surround ourselves with people who are like us weather we like it or not. I feel like this extends to this genre and its people.

Connection is a powerful feeling. Being able to connect to an artist or song makes it that much better.

Some songs ive always loved that ive found new meaning in:

Beartooth - I have a problem / Ignorance is bliss

Currents - Forget me

BMTH - The sadness will never end

Architects - Nihilist

Invent Animate - Nova

Imminence - The black

Do you ever feel in your bones that you weren't going to make it another year?

I told myself I wouldn't make it to 28. Here I am, 28 thinking the same thing again.

Tomorrows a hard day for me. I feel like shit physically and mentally today. Its like im preparing myself for tomorrow. I dont know if ill make it to September 4th of next year but like everyone here, the only thing I can do is try.

You ever listen to a song for the first time and start laughing cause its so good?

With this new polaris track, im remembering the first time I listened to Hypermania. The breakdown at the middle (1:30) got me. Still happens nowadays for really good tracks. Curious if people share the same sentiment.

Edit: I will say the climax of Currents - Forget me and Architects - Daybreak get me everytime

Bands that deserve the hype

A lot of bands I’ve listened to in the past have blown up. who do you guys think are well deserving of it? Specifically bands that have grown exponentially in the last decade. My list is as follows:

Boundaries

Knocked loose

Invent animate

Currents

Polaris

Turnstile

Thornhill

I was listening to all these bands when they had sub 100k listeners on Spotify + were playing shoes to 100 people. I’m glad they’ve seen some success over the years as they deserve it.

I loved, lost and now I’m depressed

ive loved one girl in my life (28M). I got her. I lost her, i got her back and lost her again.

it’s been a year. I’m a mess. im on countless medications. I’m killing myself with alcohol and my only thoughts are her. I stare at my door wishing she would knock on it. I cry after knowing she won’t. I can’t keep going built on sone fantasy. She got a restraining order. and I deserved it. messaged her over and over. sent her letters. sent her packages. emailed through new accounts. I dug the hole deeper and deeper. I didn’t do what I did out of malice. I did it because giving up on her has always felt like giving up on life. I exist to exist. I drink to numb. I take Xanax to numb. I have felt every feeling I could possibly feel about this breakup but yet nothing goes away. so I try to numb it. I have made alot of changes but yet my mind still haunts me. I live in a nightmare I created. day in and day out. I try and forget this nightmare but I always seem to find a way to remember

its silly to think all of this is because of a girl. truth is, ive opened a door I can’t shut. living with that door open is an everyday struggle.

One of the 7 wonders of the world. Detroit style pizza

Best results for me in my Ooni Volt. So good. I will say it’s better in an outdoor oven cooked with charcoal. But for an indoor pizza, this kills all the competition in the Orlando area

Best Architects Record

Im already prepared to hear AOGHAU but I don’t think it’s that cut and dry.

1 and 2. LF//LT, and AOGHAU

  1. Daybreak

  2. Holy Hell

5-7: Holy Crown and the sky the earth, Ruin

8-9: nightmares, the hear and now

10: FTTWTE

  1. The classic Symptoms

1-4 are a toss up for me depending on the mood. For those that wish to exist me the classic symptoms are just bad. I havent listened to enough of the hear and now and nightmares so my opinion can change on those. The newest record is a step up but still has some shit songs. Hollow Crown is the the record the real old school fans love. I can see say it’s not my fav but I understand the appeal.

I will say their best song is gone with the wind. I don’t think you can be an architects fan and not love that song. Hearing it live gave me chills. The hurt can be heard in Sam’s voice. Even halfway through the tour. So painful they took it off the set. that says enough

My apartment is getting full

I’ve gotten semi obsessive. I think it’s because in my previous relationship, my partner really liked plants. Got use to having them in our home. Now that chapter is over, and it’s like I’m buying them because I want a piece of her to stay with me.

As a first time watcher, the last episode of season 2 and the first two episodes of season 3 are peak

first let me say so far. I’m like halfway through season 3 and I’m just thinking about wanting to watch those episodes again. Please tell me there are better episodes ahead. Like what do you guys consider the best season?

Does your city have a local asshole that goes to most shows?

I’m guessing this is a universal truth. I mainly go to shows in the Tampa / St Pete and Orlando area. You start seeing the same people at a lot of these shows. There are always a few guys that are at most shows and are just straight up assholes. They go to shows and hit people with impunity. It’s like the only reason for them to go is to get away with assault. I mean I get hardcore dancing, and swinging and all that type of stuff. I participate myself. The crowd killing is what gets annoying. And again most people do not crowd kill. Very few do. But it’s always the same people who do it and get away with it. I really wish the crowd would just gang up on the guy and teach them a lesson but that never seems to happen.

It sucks that mass majority of people are super chill and nice but a few people can ruin your experience. And the argument “just don’t get near the pit“ is straight up stupid. These people have plenty of space to do all the hardcore dancing they want without intentionally hitting someone. I’ve personally been hurt multiple times in the pit by accident and Im never upset because that is the risk I’m taking. But I was kicked in the back of the head, got a concussion, by some fucking guy when he was literarily the ONLY one in the pit. He had all the room in the world to do what he wanted without hurting anyone. Having to see these people over and over again really discourages me

I still love my ex

One year later I’m still in love with a girl whom has moved on.

I’m sure you can relate to that pain. The soul crushing pain that you are not with them and they don’t care. Fed a lie for years. Heart shattered, Struggling to keep your head above water

Treading water is all u can do, My stamina is running thin
