Rishikesh + Brahmatal Trek | December 19 onwards | Open to anyone who wants to join

Hey everyone!

I’ll be travelling from Mumbai to Rishikesh on December 18, reaching Rishikesh on December 19.

I’ll spend some time in Rishikesh first, and then head out for the Brahmatal trek. After coming back from the trek, I’m planning to stay for a couple more days at a quiet, slightly offbeat homestay in the mountains around Rishikesh before heading back.

I’m not specifically looking for a travel partner, as I’m perfectly comfortable doing the trip solo. But if anyone happens to be planning something similar around the same dates and wants to join for the Rishikesh part, Brahmatal, or even the post-trek mountain stay, feel free to reach out.

No fixed expectations or itinerary-sharing pressure just looking to see if anyone else is up for a mountain trip around that time.

Plan roughly:

Dec 18: Mumbai → Rishikesh

Dec 19 onwards: Rishikesh

Brahmatal trek

Back to Rishikesh

A few days at an offbeat mountain homestay

Return to Mumbai

If you're interested, DM me and we can figure out the details.

What's the importance of Guru Mantra

Today on the day of Guru Purnima, I always wanted to have Guru Mantra for my practice but I still don't know the importance of Guru Mantra. Like

\- what's the difference between Guru Mantra and normal beej mantras or any other mantra.

\- what happens if we chant without Guru Deeksha

\- does it give any other benifits or is there any other special power in this mantra

\- why each Guru Mantra varies for each individual

\- why this mantras are not mentioned online or in scriptures

\- why Guru doesn't give Guru Mantra so easily

\- what's the pre requisite to have Guru Mantra

  • how does we know that this mantra is meant for us or for our goals.

And many more. Please answer this question as I'm too eager to know this answer.

What is the correct way to do mantra japa: audibly properly saying the mantra loudly, with lip movement, or mentally

I have a question regarding the proper way to perform mantra japa.

I'm confused about which one is traditionally recommended.

Should the mantra be pronounced audibly, so that we can hear our own voice?

Is it enough to move the lips silently without making any sound?

Or should the mantra be repeated completely mentally, without any lip or tongue movement?

Are all of these methods considered valid, or does it depend on the mantra, the deity, the stage of one's sadhana, or the Guru's instructions?

Resumed my regular Navarna Mantra japa after a break, and I've had two nightfalls this week. Coincidence or related?

I wanted to ask something that's been on my mind.

I have been doing the Navarna Mantra japa regularly. A few weeks ago, I went through a phase where I just didn't feel like sitting for japa. There wasn't any particular reason—I simply wasn't in the mood and lacked the willingness to practice. Because of that, I skipped a few days.

After some reflection, I told myself that I shouldn't depend on my mood and that I should just continue my sadhana.

So I restarted gradually:

- For the first week, I did just 1 mala daily.

- The following week, I increased it to 2 malas.

- After that, I resumed my usual practice of 313 repetitions every night.

It's now been about a week since I returned to my regular count. During this week, I've had two nightfalls, which is unusual for me.

I'm wondering if this could be related to restarting my japa or if it's simply a normal biological occurrence with no spiritual significance.

Question about Japa after consuming meat or alcohol

I have a genuine question regarding mantra japa.

As I understand it, certain Vamachara traditions involve the Panchamakara (the five Ms), which include meat, fish, alcohol, sexual union and grain-related offerings or rituals.

This made me wonder: if these substances are part of certain Tantric traditions, is it acceptable to perform mantra japa after consuming meat or alcohol? Or are there specific rules that differ according to the deity, mantra, or lineage?

The reason I'm asking is because I once told my Guru that I eat non-vegetarian food and asked if I should skip my japa on those days. He simply replied, "It's totally fine. Don't worry about it. There are other things you don't know yet. Just continue your japa."

His answer gave me confidence, but I'm curious to understand the broader traditional perspective.

I'd love to hear from practitioners who have studied Tantra or belong to authentic lineages.

So I do my jaap after having nonveg but sometimes I drink and I don't know if it is Right or wrong and I'm always in this dilemma should I do my jaap after drinking alcohol or not.

How did you know you were ready for Guru Diksha? Need guidance.

Recently, I had a conversation with someone whom I consider my Guru.

Earlier, he had given me a mantra for japa, but it wasn't a diksha mantra. So I gathered the courage to ask him if he would accept me as his disciple and give me Guru Diksha.

He replied, "I don't make everyone my chela. In my entire journey, I've accepted only five people as my chelas. But don't worry, come on Guru Purnima... let's see."

Ever since that conversation, my mind has been filled with mixed emotions.

Part of me feels deeply grateful and hopeful. But another part keeps asking:

- Am I truly ready to receive Guru Diksha?

- Will I be able to live up to the responsibilities of being a disciple?

- What if I fail to follow my Guru's guidance with complete sincerity?

- What if I'm not worthy yet?

I have decided that I will definitely meet him on Guru Purnima, whatever happens. But before that, I wanted to hear from people who have received Guru Diksha or have walked this path.

Did you also experience similar doubts before initiation? Is it normal to feel this way? How did you prepare yourself mentally and spiritually?

I would sincerely appreciate your guidance.

Is it okay to keep a Das Mahavidya Yantra as my phone wallpaper?

Namaste everyone 🙏

I have a question regarding Das Mahavidya Yantras.

Is it appropriate to keep the Yantra of any of the Das Mahavidyas as a phone wallpaper, or is it better not to do so?

Also, if anyone has clear and authentic images of all 10 Das Mahavidya Yantras, could you please share them here?

A little about my practice: I currently do Maa Durga mantra japa regularly. If I were to keep one Yantra as my wallpaper, which Mahavidya's Yantra would you recommend and why?

I'm looking for guidance from people who have studied or practiced within the Shakta tradition.

Thank you. 🙏

It's been more than a year since my breakup, but I got drunk last night and spent hours crying over my ex.

Pata hai aaj kya hua. It's been more than a year since my breakup, and honestly, I thought I had moved on.

Last night was an emotional rollercoaster and I'm still trying to process it.

I went out for drinks and got pretty drunk. Around 1:40 AM, I suddenly started missing my ex intensely. I don't cry often, but last night I cried for more than half an hour. Both my eyes were literally flowing like a waterfall.

The strange part was how my emotions kept changing. One moment I was crying and missing her, then I would sit quietly and meditate. After a while I would feel okay, then suddenly start crying again. At one point I felt horny and wanted to masturbate but didn't. Then I went back to missing her and listening to our old voice recordings and crying again.

I ended up reading our old chats, looking at our photos, and even trying to contact her. She's blocked me on calls and WhatsApp, so I ended up sending a message through Google Pay.

What hit me the hardest was that I found myself complaining to God, asking why things happened the way they did. In my mind, everything between us felt perfect. I kept asking myself if there was some reason behind it all.

The thing is, I rarely cry. When I think about the times I've cried in my adult life, almost all of them were because of her.

Now that I'm sober, I'm wondering what all happened last night.

Want to Upgrade My Wardrobe Any Good Men's Clothing Stores Near Goregaon (Mumbai)?

27M here, looking to upgrade my wardrobe for both office wear and everyday wear.

I'm trying to move away from the boring look and build a more mature, well-fitted wardrobe. Think Gurkha trousers, chinos, polos, Oxford shirts, formal shirts, well-fitted trousers, quality basic T-shirts, loafers, etc.

I'm based in Goregaon and looking for recommendations for good men's clothing stores nearby. My budget is moderate not looking for luxury brands, but also not interested in cheap fast-fashion quality.

Some things I'm looking for:

- Gurkha pants/trousers

- Chinos

- Polo T-shirts

- Solid premium T-shirts

- Formal and semi-formal shirts

- Smart casual office wear

- Good value-for-money stores

Would love recommendations for stores, factory outlets, local hidden gems where you shop for quality men's clothing without spending a fortune.

Thanks!

Developed a crush on an office girl after years of not being interested in anyone — how should I proceed without making things awkward?

I recently joined a new office, and for over a year I had been single without genuinely being interested in anyone or finding anyone particularly attractive. During that time, I was working from home, so there was very little in-person interaction apart from occasionally meeting friends on weekends or in the evenings.

When I joined this new office, I noticed a girl who sits across from my desk. After such a long time, I found myself feeling attracted to someone again. During my first few days, we exchanged eye contact several times, and I started wondering if she might find me attractive as well.

After 2–3 days, I decided to make a move and introduced myself. I asked her name and which department she worked in. That's when I learned that she had already been with the company for about a year and worked in a completely different team and department. Because of that, we don't really have any common work-related reasons to interact.

She also has her own social circle at the office and is usually surrounded by colleagues, so I rarely find an opportunity to have a proper conversation with her. Whether it's at the coffee machine, near our desks, or elsewhere in the office, she's almost always with someone, especially boys. It's not that she's spending time with male colleagues specifically; it's more that I don't know how to join a conversation without feeling like I'm interrupting.

A few times, I tried sitting next to her, but we never ended up having any meaningful conversation. On one occasion, when I went to sit near her again, one of her teammates told me that someone else was already using that seat and asked me to sit elsewhere. Since then, I haven't tried sitting there again because that spot always seems occupied.

I now sit behind her, and sometimes we catch each other looking in the other's direction. However, I'm not sure if that means anything, and I think it could simply be because I look at her often, which makes her notice me as well.

After our first conversation, I also sent her a connection request on LinkedIn, but she hasn't accepted it yet, and I don't know why.

At this point, I'm unsure how to proceed. I would like to get to know her better and potentially ask her out, but I don't know how to approach the situation naturally without making things awkward or uncomfortable.

I need some guidance regarding my spiritual practice.

I do Naam Jaap every night. Sometimes I can continue consistently for 1–3 months without missing a day, but then there are phases where I just don't feel like doing it. I feel sleepy, tired, distracted, or simply unable to connect. My mind starts saying, "Just finish it quickly," and at that point I often stop because it feels mechanical. I think, if I'm not doing it with focus and devotion, what's the point?

Why does this happen?

I get frustrated with myself and sometimes feel that I'm just being lazy. Before and after my Jaap, I always say sorry and thank you to Maa, but lately it feels like I'm that child who keeps making the same mistakes and then apologizing again and again.

Something else happened recently that bothered me. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling very horny and ended up masturbating almost impulsively. Right after that, I thought, "What have I done?" It wasn't even something I had planned.

For those who have been on a spiritual path longer than I have:

- Is it normal to go through periods where Jaap feels dry, mechanical, or difficult?

- How do you stay consistent when devotion and focus are missing?

- Should Jaap be done even when the heart isn't fully in it?

- How do you deal with guilt after giving in to impulses like lust?

Need advice regarding braces after tooth extraction, shifting teeth, facial asymmetry & implant confusion

A few years ago I had one of my front-side teeth (canine) extracted, and since then my teeth have slowly shifted. I now have a visible gap in the front area and I also feel like my face/smile has become slightly less attractive over time.

I recently visited multiple dentists/orthodontists and got mixed opinions:

2 dentists told me I would need braces first and then probably an implant later.

One orthodontist said first we should do braces and then decide later whether implant is needed or whether the gap can be closed naturally depending on how the teeth settle.

Another orthodontist told me I may NOT need an implant at all and that she can close/manage the space completely with braces while maintaining facial structure and even broadening my smile, without affecting my aesthetic.

Now I’m confused about which approach is better long-term.

Some details:

Teeth have shifted noticeably over the years.

Also have deep bite.

I feel my dental midline/smile may be slightly off now.

I’m considering self-ligating metal braces.

Treatment estimate: 12–18 months.

Main concerns are:

facial asymmetry

smile aesthetics

bite/function

whether avoiding implant is actually safe/recommended

Questions:

Is space closure without implant common/safe in such cases?

Can braces alone improve facial asymmetry caused by shifting teeth/bite issues?

Is implant generally better than space closure long term?

Does orthodontist skill matter significantly in these cases?

Anyone here had a similar extraction-gap case fixed successfully without implant?

Would really appreciate advice from orthodontists or people who’ve gone through something similar.
