Over 800 GB of Vintage CGI dated from 1974-1992

Youtuber Ziggy Cashmere, an archivist of old media, has announced on his alternate YouTube channel Ok so... an archive of over 800 GB of Vintage CGI created by Computer Graphics Lab at the New York Institute of Technology between 1974-1992.

A link to the announcement video can be found here, but I have linked directly to the archive.org page set up exclusively for this content.

A Message from ESO's Game Director

When we announced Seasons in January, we promised you a new era of transparency. Part of that promise is being open with you as our studio evolves.

Recently, we've been through a number of organizational changes and departures of teammates who helped shape The Elder Scrolls Online. We are profoundly grateful for everything they've contributed to the game and the community we've built together.

At the same time, we've seen a lot of questions about what these changes mean for ESO. So let me be clear: ESO is here to stay, and our team is dedicated to the future of this game. Our focus hasn't changed. It is continuing to grow The Elder Scrolls Online and build upon the world millions of players call home.

Moving forward, I'll be leading the studio alongside longtime ZOS veteran Josh Henderson. You'll hear more from Josh soon, but I want you to know that our shared passion for ESO remains as strong as ever. We love this world, we love this community, and the fire in our team to continue building it burns just as fiercely today as it always has.

We're also entering a new chapter of collaboration across Bethesda. By working more closely with Bethesda Game Studios across The Elder Scrolls, we have new opportunities to share ideas, align our efforts, and create even better experiences for players, all while continuing to build the future of ESO

EVOLVING OUR PLANS

We’ve said this before: a core part of our philosophy is ensuring that the time you invest in ESO always feels rewarding. And with the recent changes to our studio, trying to hit our previously announced deadlines would mean sacrificing the quality you deserve. Therefore, we are establishing a clear principle for how we build and ship content and features moving forward: quality experiences over calendar dates.

Instead of rushing to hit a previously announced deadline, we are giving our teams the runway they need to do things right. Some of our upcoming additions, like the Class and Combat Refresh and our new Trial, are highly complex, and we want to ensure they hit the mark before we put them in your hands.

Because of this, we have had to make the decision to move the following features into 2027:

  • The new trial, Crimson Veldt. We’re pushing boundaries with this trial, including mounted combat that we think you’ll love, and we simply need more time to ensure the experience exceeds your expectations.
  • Update 52 will move to January of 2027. We expect this to include the launch of the Jerall Pass PvP zone and Skyrim’s Dynamic Encounters: Rimegales.
  • For the Class and Combat refresh, we are targeting 2027 for the next refresh. However, we are discussing some interim options for the classes still awaiting their full refresh to improve your player experience in the meantime.

We know it’s disappointing to see some features move out, and believe me, we want to get these into your hands as soon as possible, too. But we believe this is the right move for the long-term health of the game.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2026

While those specific features are shifting, the rest of our 2026 roadmap remains packed. Here is what you can expect from our upcoming Seasons.

Season One

Update 51 will now launch one week later, on September 28, and it will include:

  • A new challenge: The Nowhere Vault
  • A new game system: Rumors
  • Player experience improvements: Achievement pinning, Customizable HUD (on keyboard platforms), Hybridization, Antiquities improvements, Transmute Stations in Cyrodiil, and multiple quality-of-life updates like Housing Tab Sorter, Quest Starter Language, and Eidetic Memory improvements

Everything else in Season One will run as planned, along with a few additions to thank you for your patience:

  • Live now: New Sheogorath story quests and Golden Pursuit
  • August 5-12: Whitestrake’s Mayhem event
  • August 20-September 17: A brand-new Golden Pursuit campaign called “Straight to the Crate,” where you can earn up to 20 free Crown Crates
  • September 30-October 14: The new High Seas of Tamriel event
  • And three-sided Battlegrounds will return permanently on September 28, with Update 51

Season Two

Launching October 21, 2026, Season Two will feature:

  • Solo Dungeons: Moon Hunter Keep and March of Sacrifices.
  • To celebrate the launch of Solo Dungeons, we’ve decided to make the group versions of these dungeons  free for all players on October 12, 2026.
  • The Greymoor Chapter and Markarth DLC will become free for all players on November 9, 2026.
  • We’re adding a new Golden Pursuit to highlight Skyrim and the (now available to everyone) Antiquities system from November 9 to December 2.
  • Improvements to the Tamriel Tome, including expanded Challenges for broader playstyles, higher Tome Point rollover cap, and more.
  • Frost Atronach crate rewards will be available in the Gold Coast Bazaar.
  • Witches Festival and the New Life Festival events will return as usual.

CONTINUING TO GROW ESO WITH YOU

We’ve had bumps in the road over our 12-year history that we’ve always faced together. As our studio evolves, we are not looking to just “maintain” the game. We are looking to grow it. You, our community, are the reason we have grown over the years, and we want to keep growing with you.

Moving forward, our principles are simple: we will continue to build fun and rewarding experiences through our Seasonal model, deliver long-standing player-requested features and changes that make Tamriel more fulfilling, and find new ways to provide you with features and content to keep your adventures fresh.

As we finalize our plans through 2027 and beyond, we’re still hard at work bringing you all-new experiences in Skyrim, never before seen in The Elder Scrolls Online. We’ll be showing you more of this content over the coming months.

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: ESO is nothing without you, our community. Thank you for your continued dedication, your feedback, and your support.

Let’s continue to build our Tamriel together.

New Pen Setup!

Cinnabun got a new pen setup, including with her first digbox. We'd love to free roam her, but unfortunately with an apartment and three cats, that's not an option. But we're trying to give her the best setup we can, with what space we have. Would love any feedback of what else we can do for her to give her as much enrichment as possible. (We also do let her run free as much as possible!)

Favorite JRPG you've never seen discussed?

Crimson Gem Saga (Also known as Garnet Chronicle and Astonishia Story 2) is one of my favorite JRPGs. It doesn't do anything particularly new, but it does everything "classic JRPG" great. Beautiful graphics and art, an excellent English voice cast, fun party members, great music that is almost impossible to find online, and a very funny, if not super-faithful, localization.

In the nearly 20 years since I first played it, I've only ever seen it discussed on dead forums from the late 00s, and even then, only when you actively seek out discussion. It's a fantastic game, with some really fun humor, and I'd advise anyone looking for a new one to play to give it a shot (And really, anything on the PSP library, that thing has so many gems that get passed over in favor of other systems).

Any games you stand by despite nobody really knowing?

Did Arachnid Mesh have its quality level dropped? Found one in Level 3 of Maggot Lair, which should be level 85, but I thought Arachned Mesh has a quality level of 87.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I haven't really gotten *too* involved with Diablo 2 farming logic in the past, typically I just run stuff that is easy to run, but I was surprised to see one of my final build items drop while casually making my way through act 2.

Since Turtle WoW is officially dead, can we finally discuss what it did right/wrong, and what Blizzard should pull from it for an official Classic+?

The sub has a rule against discussing private servers, so apologies if this isn't allowed, feel free to remove if so, but I figured since Turtle WoW has been officially gone for over a month now, it would be productive to discuss what the server did right to resonate with so many players.

For me, Turtle did a great job of focusing on filling the gaps ineveling. Endgame content is always welcome, but adding new dungeons for the early and mid-levels, or new zones to fill the 30-50 drought, or small quest hubs and chains to give rewards to players that would otherwise be unobtainable for a while was great. Turtle had a heavy focus on the journey, and while SoD tried to do so as well, it instead focused on the endgame for each respective bracket, so all new content was focused around levels 25, 40, 50, and 60. Outside of runes, and those level brackets, there really wasn't much new aside from Nightmare Incursions.

For reference, you can see a list of most Turtle WoW custom content here.

A lot of players have a very condescending opinion of Turtle, but for a lot of us, it was the best source for a Classic version of the game with properly integrated new content that did a good job of complementing the existing game.

I'm curious what clicked with other Turtle players, or if you never played the server, if there is anything in that list of custom content that cat he's your interest, and how you would like to see it integrated into a Classic+. On the flip side as well, what looks like it's a step over the line or a change you don't like, and would not want added to a theoretical Classic+?

Key is worn - Dealership charging nearly $500 to replace, and aftermarket isn't working. Any adice?

Hello,

The other week, my 2011 Camry LE started having issues with starting the engine. I can unlock the door with the actual key, and I can fit the key in the ignition, but any attempts to turn the ignition locks it in place before even the first click.

I've taken it in to have a new one cut, and the place that cut it tried four different times to get the programming working, in vain, to the point where they didn't even charge me. The fob was able to unlock the car, but once again the key would not turn the ignition. My spare key works just fine, but doesn't have a fob, and ideally I would like a backup in case my wife needs one.

On Saturday, I called my local dealership, and they quoted me $180 for the key and another $240 for the programming. After tax, it's almost $500 just for a spare key.

Obviously I can't really justify that, so I'm kind of scratching my head. I'm not sure why the aftermarket key wouldn't work, and to be honest, neither were any of the people working on it.

Any ideas? (Or at least ones that won't cost half a grand?)

KFC undergoes global brand refreshment - Time to critique

KFC has announced a major rebrand, with a focus on new products, including dippable and dunkable boneless chicken and a line of higher-end drink options, an elevated dine-in experience, and a visual overhaul of all marketing and packaging material.

I won't summarize the entire rebrand, if you're interested in that, you can find the press release here. But KFC is a global chain that has had some very contentious rebrands in the past. Curious to see what everyone here thinks.

Comparison of old logo (left) and new (right).

Updated packaging.

New store concept with outdoor seating area.

Personally, I'm not too huge on it. The company had good branding before, and I've always hated this trend of super bold text with tight leading or kerning. I get the purpose of it, but intentionally making text difficult to read is just never a decision I like. More so when you repeat or warp your own company name in the logo of all places.

I'm not imagining things, am I? I want to say it's just the railing that is angled upward, but it's very noticably not.

My wife and I lost our orange cat just a couple weeks ago. We were used to three cats, and in the course of 18 months, have gone down to one. The house was too quiet and the bed was too empty, so we decided to add some new additions to the family.

Never been a calico dad. Not sure what I'm in for. But so far she's an absolute menace.

Hello,

My wife and I had to make the call to have my fur baby put down on Saturday. It had been a 2 month long battle with what felt like a time bomb of problems all arising at once, and after it looked like we might finally be settling into a good rhythm, a tumor was found that gave us no other option.

My wife and I have been devastated. I considered him my soul cat, and the light of my life, but we lost him at only 6 years old. We are both handling it... not well, but while at the vet to put him to sleep, they had a kitten available for adoption, the last of his litter. He seemed like such a sweet, energetic boy, and was very friendly to anyone who passed by.

We can't stop thinking about him, my wife especially, and are really heavily considering adopting when we go to pick up my boy's ashes. The problem is, we don't want to have it in our heads that we want to adopt him, only to find out that he is no longer there.

It's only been two days, and we are still both battling with bouts of depression and tears. I don't know if our feelings are healthy, like we are just trying to fill a void, but I simultaneously know that nothing we could ever do could replace the big personality he had. We are used to a three-cat dynamic, but are now down to one after losing our first about a year and a half ago. While we love our queen, she cuddles on her terms, and the bed is too lonely at night now.

I don't know if I'm overthinking things, or if it truly is disrespectful to the memory of my boy to bring another cat into the household so soon. But my paternal instinct wants to channel this grief into giving another cat as good of a life as we gave him, and I'm not sure others around me would understand, more so after how hard they saw his passing take its toll on me.

Can I have some honest feedback and advice?

Thank you.
