Mother (Heresy)

Mother (Heresy)

  • Saying that Sans is actually Ness. It became an inside joke within the fandom, but admitting you unironically support this theory will get you laughed at.
  • The Giygas abortion theory^(note)  is very controversial, Itoi himself having denied it and the theory contradicting the in-game narrative; it's said Giygas is attacking Earth from the past, nothing is said about erasing him from existence. State this theory as fact and you will not grasp the true form of the ensuing backlash.
  • Shipping Ness and Paula with anyone other than each other, even Lucas or especially Porky, will get you PK Fire Omega'd. It led to a minor Fandom Rivalry with the Super Smash Bros. community, because that fandom favored shipping Ness and Lucas.

Nintendo (Fandom Heresy)

  • If you own a Super NES, never speak ill of its iconic controller, or fans of the console will whip you with its cord.
  • Never speak positively of the Nintendo 64's infamous tri-pronged controller, or "64" will be number of pieces that you'll be turned into by the fanbase.
  • If you own a Wii, and you play Light Gun Games and other Rail Shooters on it, never express any approval of the Wii Zapper accessory, often seen as a pointless piece of plastic and a waste of money, or else you will be used as a target in Link's Crossbow Training.

Pixar (Fandom Heresy)

  • Overall, Pixar's run from 1995-to-2010 is considered to be their golden age, so you should try not to bash most of their films from that era unless you want to be stomped and flattened by Luxo Jr. Toy Story 1, The Incredibles 1, Ratatouille, and WALL•E are especially off-limits. You might get away with criticizing A Bug's Life and Cars 1, since they are considered to be amongst Pixar's weaker films, but even so, you mustn't say they're outright bad films unless you want to anger their fans.
  • While liking most Pixar sequels over the original will have half the fandom defend your opinion, saying you like Cars 2 more than the first or third films is a no-go unless you want to anger much of the wider Pixar fandom, as it’s regarded by many as one of Pixar's worst films. Similarly, Toy Story 2 and 3 are near-universally agreed to be better than the first film, and it would be unwise to disagree with this sentiment.

The mediocre Futurama "Fridge" let-down #8

  • Fry and Yivo hit it off because Yivo is a cyclops (with purple “hair”).

The amazing Futurama "Fridge" spectacular #7

  • In the season one episode "A Big Piece of Garbage" when using one of the Professor's inventions it's implied Fry won't have a long lifespan to the point Bender doesn't think it's too early to call dibs on his stuff while in the season seven episode "T: The Terrestrial" an Omicronian veterinarian says Fry would likely live another eighty years at most.
    • At first glance it seems like the two episodes contradict each other, then you remember that in the 31st century the lifespan of an average human has advanced to the point where someone would have to be 150 to be considered elderly, while Fry is from the 21st century and therefore has a shorter lifespan than everyone else.
    • The short lifespan is also explainable with the fact Lars is Fry, who dies about seven years after that episode.

-----

Editorial: Ignoring the obvious, Aliens don't understand human biology gag...this is more interesting.

Adventure Time with "Fridge" & Jake #6

  • Okay so technically this didn't happen in the show itself... but in the original storyboard for "The Lich", Billy told Finn of his father being trapped in the Citadel a full season before it actually happened. Of course, this wasn't actually Billy, it was the Lich in Billy's body.
    • Later, when Finn tries to go to the Citadel, it plays directly into the hands of the Lich. This would imply that originally, it was going to be his backup plan all along - in the event of failing at his wish, he'd get to try again immediately.

The amazing Futurama "Fridge" spectacular #6

  • In "Love's Labours Lost in Space", Zapp Brannigan recounts his confrontation with Killbots. He claims the Killbots have a limit for how many people they will kill; so he sent wave after wave of his men until the Killbots reached their limits. A deleted scene shows that the kill limit on a single Killbot is 999,999. Just how many men did Brannigan send to their deaths?

---

Editorial: Lets assume most of the men were humans, if Zapp didn't send all of those men to their deaths...depending on how many kill bots there were, there would've been way more than enough humans to feed the Omicronians.

"Fridged" Dragon Balls

  • Future!Trunks is normally quite a pragmatic fighter when dealing with enemies, but he takes his time to fool around with Freeza and his army before finishing him off. Keep in mind that Trunks has spent nearly his entire life fighting to survive in a world besieged by two Androids he's completely powerless against.
    • Freeza was the first enemy Trunks had ever faced that he KNEW he was stronger than. He was taking out a lifetime of frustrations at feeling powerless on Freeza. He takes out King Cold relatively quickly, possibly because, while we don't see it, King Cold may have been able to transform and thus Trunks did not want to take any chances on Cold's transformation over-powering him.
  • Trunks was probably stalling on purpose. By his own admission to Goku he wasn't supposed to be there, and it was Goku that was meant to show up in the nick of time to destroy Freeza and King Cold like he had in the alternate timeline.
    • Trunks probably got antsy when Goku didn't immediately appear so he came out to confront Freeza himself, thinking he could just let Goku finish Freeza off if he arrived in time. Then Freeza tried to blow up the planet and you'll notice Trunks acted very quickly to kill him after that because he hadn't counted on that reaction.

The amazing Futurama "Fridge" spectacular #5

  • Zapp Brannigan's hatred for the Neutrals in "Brannigan, Begin Again" actually makes some amount of sense when you consider that their neutrality means they'd essentially sit on the sidelines and be completely indifferent to other species or planets committing atrocities in front of them. Considering a lot of Zapp's missions are done out of a (horribly misguided and selfish) sense of justice, it makes sense that he'd dislike them just as much as the "evil" planets he loves to fight against.
    • He also likes to antagonize alien races that he knows he can win a fight against.

Shower Thoughts: Fridge & Morty #4

Solaricks

  • The revelation of main Morty's timeline being Weird Rick’s timeline casts many events of the first season in a new light, such as why Rick is so cavalier about destroying the entire world with random animal DNA. Why should he give a shit about the home planet of the guy who killed his family?
  • It also creates a case of “Schrödinger's Asshole” vis-à-vis Main Rick’s treatment of Morty; does he subconsciously resent Morty for being the grandchild of the man Rick hates most? Or was this just Rick being Rick?

Part 2.

  • Weird Rick shows no animosity towards the Jerry of his universe and is even polite towards him, despite most Ricks hating Jerry so much that our Rick planned around their inability to stop bullying him.
  • Why is this? It’s because according to our Rick, Weird Rick doesn’t give a single damn about his family, including Beth. Most of Rick’s hatred towards Jerry stems from him impregnating his daughter and chaining her down with his sorry ass. Since Weird Rick doesn’t care about Beth, he has no underlying hatred of Jerry(s) and just like everyone else, he doesn’t give a crap about them.

The amazing Futurama "redux" spectacular

In two episodes Leela makes remarks about stomping puppies. It sounds out of character for an Animal Lover like her... until you remember that, according to "I Second That Emotion" and "Parasites Regained", Nibbler loves eating puppies. Perhaps this is just a way to feed her own pet.

The amazing Futurama "Fridge" spectacular #4

  • "The Why Of Fry" has Nibbler waiting under the table when Fry sits down on the chair he eventually falls into the cryo-tube in, which seems to contradict "Jurassic Bark" as Nibbler's eye-stalk is seen poking out of the garbage at that moment. However "Game of Tones" reveals he wasn't the only Nibblonian present, so it's likely that eye-stalk belonged to Digby.

Avatar: The last Fridge-bender #3

The Fortuneteller

This episode ties in to Avatar Roku's backstory, where he also ends up fighting to keep a volcano from destroying a village. At one point, Aang exclaims "You're fighting a volcano - and winning!"

  • Except Roku doesn't win; as a matter of fact he ends up dying, due to Sozin's betrayal. Aang, by contrast, actually does manage to conquer the volcano in spite of not yet being a fully realized Avatar, because he has his loyal friends beside him helping him out.

An early sign of Aang's collective Avatar wisdom? When confronted by the specter of a volcano erupting and destroying a village, Aang, true to his airbending nature, saves the village by simply diverting the lava.

  • We later find out that (Roku) his previous life ended when he tried to confront a volcano eruption (albeit a MUCH bigger one) head-on, like a firebender would.

Shower Thoughts: Fridge & Morty #3

Total Rickall

  • Rick spent the whole episode singling out Summer to the point that him trying to kill her became a running gag, which seems odd since Rick's least favorite member of the family has always been Jerry who Rick didn't accuse of being a parasite or try to kill once in the episode. But then remember why Rick dislikes Jerry, he got his daughter pregnant in high school and ruined her life, and Sleepy Gary had brainwashed Rick into thinking he was Beth's husband so Rick would have spent the whole episode thinking Jerry was just one of his daughters' loser friends.

The amazing Futurama "Fridge" spectacular #3

Bender has a thing for Asian human women. Both humans he's ever had a romantic relationship with (Lucy Liu and Amy) are Asian.

  • Don't forget this bit from the second episode The Series Has Landed, when Amy is struggling to retrieve the starship's keys from a claw machine. Bender tells Amy that manipulating the claw is "just like making love- "left, down, rotate 62 degrees, engage rotor", and Amy immediately snaps back "I know how to make love!". Oh, yeah-they're on the same sexual page.

Regular Fridge #2

Benson's past as a Drummer is still extremely fitting (character-wise).

  • The strongest role of Drums in a band is as Rhythmic Percussion - keeping a beat that all the other instruments are meant to play in line with. As manager of the park, Benson's job is still to ensure that his co-workers are marching to a beat he lays out - just a far less literal one.
