Are movies just not for me?

It feels weird to write off an entire medium of entertainment like that, but it's really starting to feel like the case. I've tried watching plenty of movies and none of them have really grabbed me at all. That's not to say that I was bored out of my mind while watching them, but they just didn't make me feel a whole lot. What am I missing? Am I just broken? Here's some movies that I've watched:

  • The Shawshank Redemption
  • Fight Club
  • The Matrix
  • Star Wars
  • Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • Terminator
  • Alien
  • Blade Runner
  • Happy Gilmore
  • Monty Python and the Holy Grail
  • Die Hard

Why do people complain about the meta so much?

A meta will always exist in any form of competition, it's just a fact of reality. I've been seeing a ton of people whine about "meta slaves" in Pokemon and it just comes off as them being sore losers. If you can't handle the idea that people play to win, you should probably just stop playing competitive games.

Are Heated Rivalry fans actually getting into hockey?

I haven't watched the show and don't plan to, but I remember seeing a lot of people say that it would bring in a huge new wave of fans to the sport. I haven't really been seeing that to be honest, it seems like the Four Nations Face-Off and 2026 Winter Olympics have been the main sources of new fans recently, with Heated Rivalry not bringing in many new people.

Why are Heated Rivalry fans so insanely weird and gross?

I'm a hockey fan who hasn't watched the show, but find myself growing more and more annoyed at Heated Rivalry fans.

Seeing people diminish Nick Suzuki's massive accomplishment of winning the Selke Trophy by comparing him to a fictional character is gross, especially because the only thing they have in common is that they have Asian heritage.

I've also been seeing so many creeps sexualize real human beings, including teenagers like Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

If these are the type of "fans" that Heated Rivalry is bringing to the sport, then I don't want them. I will happily gatekeep Heated Rivalry fans. I was indifferent to the show when it first started popping off, but I genuinely hate it at this point.

Why do people dislike Pokemon Champions?

I've seen a lot of hate for the game, which is surprising to me because I've really been enjoying it. That's not to say it's perfect, the item limitations are an odd decision for example, but it's a great game overall.

Are people actually getting into hockey because of Heated Rivalry?

I'm a hockey fan who hasn't watched the show and don't plan to, but I remember seeing people say that Heated Rivalry was going to cause an influx of new hockey fans. I was just curious if that has actually happened or if the Heated Rivalry fans never converted to the actual sport?

Why are hockey romances so popular?

I'm a hockey fan who hasn't watched or read any hockey romances, I was just curious as to why it's such a weirdly popular genre. Pretty much every sport is full of fit, conventionally attractive men. What's special about this one?

I've been trying to get into soccer, but I just don't get it

I've always found soccer to be a pretty boring sport, but decided to give it a chance with the World Cup. Unfortunately, I was still left very disappointed. The pace of the game is painfully slow, with the hockey quarterback style player (the centerfielder, I think) just passing the ball back and forth between his two wingers for the entire game while waiting for someone on the other team to make an egregious mistake. There are so few scoring chances as well. Hockey is low scoring because the goalies are really good at their jobs, while soccer is low scoring because they basically never shoot the ball. Have these just been bad games or is it always like this?

As an aside, is Lionel Messi the Alexander Ovechkin of soccer? I see people describe him as being old as dirt and barely able to move up and down the field, but he can still score like crazy, which sounds exactly like Ovechkin.

Why isn't hockey very popular among black people?

It seems like black people gravitate more towards basketball and football, while hockey is pretty unpopular in terms of both viewership and actually playing it. What's up with that?

Why do people have a problem with Pokemon Champions?

I've been getting into it now that it's on mobile and I've been having a great time. My only major complaints are that the free-to-play VP gain is too slow and that it's a bit silly to have such a limited item pool. I've seen a bunch of people calling the game terrible, though, what's up with that?

Do older people in the community dislike the use of the word queer?

I say "the queer community" and describe myself and others as being queer all the time, but it recently hit me that older people who actually lived through the times where it was a prominent slur might not be as comfortable with that. Queer has never really been used as a slur within my life from what I remember, so I figured I should ask if older folks are comfortable with it.

Obligatory "yes, I'm aware that the queer community isn't a monolith and individual people may feel differently".

Why do Americans care so much about the anthem and flag?

I remember when Canadians were booing The Star-Spangled Banner at hockey games last year, a lot of Americans were acting like it was the most heinous insult you could ever possibly commit. What's up with that?

How do Muslims feel about the LGBTQ+ community supporting them?

The queer community in countries like Canada and the United States has been widely supportive of the rights of Muslims, especially regarding Palestinian freedom. As a queer woman myself, I've always found it a bit hard to ignore that your religion is heavily against our lifestyle, though. I'm generally against all religions, but Islam especially has several countries where being queer is outright punishable by death or at least imprisonment. That obviously leaves me a bit conflicted regarding everything.

I was curious how Muslims felt about receiving support from the LGBTQ+ community. Do you even want it?

Why do you believe in Islam?

I've always found it difficult to understand why people believe in a given religion, it doesn't make much sense to me. Why?

I feel like the pandemic ru*ned my life and I don't really understand how people were able to just move on from it

I graduated high school in 2020. We were out of school for what was expected to be two weeks. When it became obvious that it wasn't going to end anytime soon, they just announced on the news that the school year had officially ended.

I went to university that Fall, but dropped out after only one semester because online classes were the most miserable I had ever been in my life. In the five years after that, I went into a massive depression and anxiety spiral due to my trust and hope in other people being completely demolished by the pandemic. I basically lost six years of my life.

What am I even supposed to do now? I'm trying to pull myself out of the pit, but it still feels like entire months are vanishing in the blink of an eye. I still find it difficult to trust others. How am I supposed to move on from this?
