Aliens (1986) Xenomorph Costume

James Cameron tasked Stan Winston with updating H.R. Giger's original design for the alien creature. The creatures were portrayed by stunt actors and dancers to achieve the convincing dynamic movement of the revised warrior designs.

The costume consists of a black nylon bodysuit, with attached hard polyfoam parts moulded in the creature's iconic bio-mechanical shape, with foam boots, foam tail, and slip-latex gloves. Completing the costume is a highly detailed replica headpiece, made from polyfoam with a soft foam interior; a slip latex-rubber replica chest panel; and a back panel with the creature's distinctive ‘exhaust' pipes. The components are held together with a combination of zippers, Velcro, metal pop fasteners, elastic, and simple stitching.

The entire costume has a white, flaky residue, likely from the liquid applied during filming to give the creature its slimy look. It exhibits some cracks and small missing segments; the surface has become slightly tacky in places, and it is missing the left elbow pipe, but otherwise remains in good condition. The costume is mounted on a custom-made display.

Aliens 1979: H.R. Giger-designed Special Effects Mechanical Alien Head

This head was constructed for production by David Watling, who also previously worked on the mechanical R2-D2 unit in Star Wars. Although Carlo Rambaldi was commissioned to make three mechanical alien heads, he was busy working on another film at the time, so Watling was asked to construct a backup in case Rambaldi's were delayed or below par.

The head was based on H.R. Giger's iconic design and, judging by the piece's airbrushed paintwork, it was also likely to have been hand-painted and finished by Giger himself.

The head is largely made of resin and fibreglass, and has a moveable jaw and toothed 'tongue' that can protrude from the mouth. The front of the head is shaped like a human skull, as per Giger's original design, with resin teeth that are plated to look metallic. The back of the head is missing, with cables protruding, revealing where the controls were attached to manipulate the mouth. A headcap is fitted within, allowing the head to be comfortably worn by the Alien performer. The head shows wear from production use and age. The jaw and 'tongue' are both mounted on a slide mechanism, with the chrome-plated teeth on the tongue spring loaded and mechanised. There are cracks and small holes in the resin, most notably on the left side. Some of the paintwork has chipped away, most clearly on the teeth.

Original Screen-Used ALIEN (1979) Special Effects Facehugger (HD)

This facehugger originated from the collection of its maker, special effects legend Roger Dicken, who was its owner from the completion of filming until his passing in 2024. The facehugger was originally designed by Swiss surrealist artist H.R. Giger.

The facehugger skin is made of latex and features realistic detailing, including veins, wrinkles, and ligaments. The flexible tail is made of foam latex to enable it to wrap around the victim's neck. A monofilament wire protrudes from the end of the tail and fingers, which would have been pulled to give the impression of the facehugger tightening its grip. Latex sacks on either side have an egg-shaped weight within to ensure they hung correctly over Kane's face. On the underside of the facehugger, the metal skeleton is exposed.

Internally, there are the remnants of dried rubber bands which were part of the original mechanism. It came on a custom-built display, keeping it in its iconic pose. Dimensions: (displayed) 13.75" x 8" x 14.5" (35 cm x 20 cm x 37 cm)

Roger never puts up with any shit!

My Wife and I saw the Roger Daltrey show last night.
A good show. I give it a "B".
But poor Roger...

After the first number, he mentioned that he can't hear himself on stage. He asked how they sounded to all of us.
It was perfect to all of us.
Clear, loud enough, sounded great!
He said, "OK, we'll continue "
They do You Better You Bet. It kicked Ass. Roger encouraged the audience to jam on it. I was the only one up on my feet getting into that tune.
At the end, he says he is still having shit happen.
He goes into the song"Trick Of The Light".
Wahoo ...nice.
UH...NOPE!
He stops the song halfway through. He is PISSED!
Says he is not putting up with this fucking shit. His words!!!
Drops the mic onto a chair.
Tells us all that he is going to get his way.
So, I guess the sound engineer got it together.

Goes into another song, and after it ends, another problem arises again.
He says
"Now they turned on an air conditioner on me. Who thought it was smart to put a blowing Air Conditioner on the Singer?" "It's the worst thing that could happen to any singer." "It hurts their vocal cords. Turn the damn thing off!"
And it was not turned off... Sooo...
He says something very unclear to us but rude about the people ruining this gig, then picks up his plastic water bottle and, over his Mic stand (Not the Mic), turns it upside down and empties it onto the stage floor. Now we all can see a nice 3-foot-wide puddle on the floor.
We were somewhat shocked... supporting him with laughter and words of encouragement.

While talking, he then attempted to walk into that doused area; he slipped and almost ate it.
WOW!
Well, they finally turned off the AC, and the show finally got back on track.
HEY, LONG LIVE ROCK!

Putting up with anus orrifus, Dr. Robert "Rocket" Romano.

Paul McCrane is a great actor. Really draws you in to hate his character.

I am rewatching the whole season for the 3rd time. I am on E.R. Season 5, Episode 18, today.
I just realized, poor ER, and I will have to put up with this bastard for 5 more Seasons. EGAD!
Two of my Fave episodes involving him are the one with the Helicopter in season 9. And then the ending in 10.
WAHOO!!! HE GOT HIS KARMA BIG TIME!!!

Ya gotta love this shot of Paul McCrane compared to his Dr. Skinhead self.

"The Cheshire Morph", A, Mathew Jackson Illustration, 2020.

"Calling someone a 'Cheshire '—usually phrased as grinning 'like a Cheshire cat '—means they have a very wide, knowing, or mischievous smile, often because they feel smug, proud, or pleased with a secret."
