Bored at a fire by myself sitting on a cooler at the edge of nowhere with my lemonade, so I thought I’d yap about my watch to strangers.

GWM-5610u (duh). Tiz a very nice watch, been wearing it about a month. My old one had a compass on it which was handy, but I accidentally melted that one on an incandescent light bulb trying to charge it.

I’m going into the army though, so I wouldn’t have been able to use it in basic anyways, so this one seemed like the best option based on my limited knowledge of Gshocks as well as some Youtube, as my screen addicted self does when debating buying something.

I really like the multiband 6, which I’d never had on a watch before, as well as the solar. A lot more accurate than the mechanical ones I’d been wearing.

I do dislike that I can’t use the light while adjusting the timer, since I work out and run at night usually, and the alarm is quiet, but besides that I am very satisfied with my purchase. ;)

Thoughts on one of the new Marlin 1894s in .357 magnum as my first rifle?

I went shooting with my grandfather a few weeks ago and he let me try out a bunch of his guns, and had a blast shooting his marlin lever action clone (and his revolvers, but I turn 18 in a month, so it's a bit early for me to think about buying a python.) I especially like how they have rails for optics unlike the Winchester design. I know they tend to be kind of pricy, and I see a lot of people recommending stuff like ar15s and 10/22s for a first rifle, so I'm wondering if there are any drawbacks I'd be facing choosing something like this. Thanks!

What's a good running plan to prepare for basic training?

I have about 3 months until I get shipped to basic training. I honestly can only run consistently for about 0.75 miles before needing to rest for a bit, and with the rests I'm at about a 25 minute 2 mile. If that doesn't make it clear, I'm not much of a runner, but I'm determined to get my fitness level up before basic.

I've currently just been running a total of 2 miles every other day, but I want to make sure I'm getting the most I can out of the runs, so I wanted to ask if anyone here had a suggested running plan that will get me in a bit better shape.

Thank you in advance.

(If it matters, I'm a 6'1" male at 185lbs)

Just bought some not really but kinda cowboy boots.

Not really for cowboying, but they look western-ish so I thought I'd post them. They're Ariat "Activator Waterproof Work Boot"s. I went to boot barn today because my old boots are starting to fall apart; didn't find anything I liked there, but these were at the local Farm and Fleet, so I snagged em. Extremely comfy out of the box, I'm curious to see how long the wedge sole will last.

P.S. Don't mind the tool organization lol.

5 year old sister touching herself. Should I be concerned?

I've been babysitting her over the summer since she got kicked out of daycare and I'm not working right now. Earlier this morning we were watching ScoobyDoo on the TV and she would start rubbing herself when I'd look away from her. I'm just curious if this could be a sign of abuse, or if it's something that younger kids sometimes just figure out on their own. Should I be concerned? Should I mention it to her parents? Thanks for the advice in advance.

How did y'all make it through high school while keeping God first?

I just finished high school for context, and am looking for advice I could give to someone who's still going through it. I'll be honest and say that my faith definitely went on the back burner this past school year.

I felt like the whole environment of school, the long days and nights working on homework, and pressure for good grades constantly kept my mind on other things, and it made it really hard to keep God my #1 priority. Also most the people I knew around my age that took their faith seriously started skipping youth group and church, and didn't really seem to care anymore. My dad died, and my mom doesn't talk about the faith much outside of Sunday services, so it kind of felt like I just was on my own with all this.

Since then I've recovered and am starting to read my Bible and pray regularly again, but there are mistakes I made in high school that I'm sure will follow me for the rest of my life, and I'd bet if I'd stayed strong in faith I could have avoided them. If you're in high school, or were in high school, what did/are you doing that kept you from going astray? I'd like to have some good advice for someone else who ends up in my shoes. Thanks!

(P.S. If I ever have kids there's no way I'm making them go to a public secular school lol.)

How many guitars do you regularly play?

I've noticed that over the years while I occasionally tried out some other guitars for a short while, I've never really stuck with anything other than my Strat. It's pretty much everything I'd want in a guitar and what I've had the most hours on, so everything else I play just feels kind of off. I'm just curious if the other people on here tend to be the same, and gravitate towards a specific guitar or platform, or if you have a pretty big variety that you use. That's all :)

What scientific field would you say most conclusively / thoroughly shows whether or not there is a "creator"?

I know that the majority of members in this sub likely already believe that all fields of scientific study ultimately point to an unguided process or chance, but if you had to pick one field that makes that the most clear, what would it be?

I grew up in a Christian household, but now that I'm a bit older, I want to make an informed decision about this topic, so I can make sure I'm not living the rest of my life for a lie. ATP I'm not researching specific religions, so I'd like to try to stay to the broader topic of whether there is a "creator being".

Thank you to the replies on my post in advance! This is something that is very important to me right now.

Can Ariat heel caps be replaced?

Starting to get close to wearing through the heel cap on my boots. Is this something I, or a cobbler, would be able to replace easily enough? I know that Ariat boots are usually the kind of boots you toss away when they wear out, but these are only maybe 7 months old, and everything else on them is fine. I know that Ariat boots with the rubber sole usually have a less repairable construction, so that's why I'm asking. It's not a real leather heel; it feels like some sort of plastic, and I think the cap is just glued on, no nails. Thanks for the advice in advance!

Back from a guitar hiatus. Any laidback/relaxing songs that you'd recommend?

I'd say I'm at an intermediate level. Right now I'm feeling like playing something kinda yatch rocky.

Are bad shops pretty common? Or is it just my area?

I don't mean to offend any mechanics on here, but finding a good place near me to bring my car for work seems like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I've constantly had people do work on my car or order parts before even calling to make sure I was ok with it. They've under-torqued critical suspension components and stripped out stuff without telling me. Once, a place was so lazy that they only put 2 skid plate bolts back on the family truck after an oil change.

Maybe it's because my car is old and kinda beat up, but it seems like nowhere around me actually gives a crap about the quality of work they do. Not to mention prices being through the roof.

When I end up moving to a new area, should I expect to have the same kind of shops, or am I just unlucky where I live?

Anyone know what this sound is? (Read Description Please.)

Okay, so I know a bit is going on here, but ignore the check engine light and the scraping sound coming from my rear brake. Whenever I take a right-hand turn, somewhat hard, it makes what I'd describe as a fluttering or moderate scraping sound coming from under my car. It sounds like it's coming from around my transfer case or underneath the center console, and it matches the engine speed in sound. The transmission feels fine shifting, and the power delivery seems normal, so I don't think it's that. The sound never shows up when taking a left-hand turn. I know it's not an exact science trying to figure out what's going on just based off sound, but I appreciate the help!

2005 Chevy Trailblazer LT 4x4 4.2L i6

(P.S. I just want the car to last 4 or so more months, hence the other stuff wrong with it. If it's not a simple/cheap fix, I'll probably scrap the car.)

Bought My Second Stetson Yesterday!

The Grey Skyline on top is the new one. My old Corral honestly gave me headaches because of how stiff the wool felt is. The Skyline is much more comfortable and seems like it'll handle reshaping much better. It is fairly snug though, so I'm a bit curious if I should worry about it potentially shrinking over time and becoming too tight. If you have any input, I'd appreciate it. I've heard people say their hats have loosened over time, and others say they shrink. Other than that though, I'm very content with the hat, and I'm excited to put some miles on it!

How hard is it to learn ECM tuning?

I've been thinking about buying an MPVI4, but I'd like to know a bit more about what I'm getting myself into first. I want to get into building racecars and whatnot someday, and this seems like it would be a good skill to learn. Even if I just feel like doing something simple, like changing tire sizes, I think it could be worthwhile to learn, but I kind of wanted to hear some input from other people on this topic. For those of you who have tuned cars before, how hard was it to learn, and how long did it take to get good at it? Did you save money? Is it something you find yourself using to help people out with any frequency? Is HP Tuners the best option, or is there something else I should take a look at? Thanks!

Heel blisters from new Double H boots. Any advice?

I bought some Double H Jases maybe two weeks ago. Pretty much right after I got them, I helped someone move houses, so I was on my feet, up and down stairs, for about 8 hours, and I got some nice blisters on the backs of both my heels. The leather and soles are a lot stiffer than what I usually wear, but I've never gotten blisters from wearing new boots before.

I know that's a lot for an unbroken-in pair of thick boots, but I don't think any of my other boots counters quite dig into my heels like that. I had to quit wearing them for multiple days for my feet to heal up again, which seems kind of absurd for work boots. Do these sound like they are worth wearing more to see if they get better over time? I'd hate to have wasted like 250 on a pair of boots I wore for about a week and a half.

I want to buy a pair of Double H boots. My Brannock size is 11.5 D, but I've had inconsistent experiences with sizing on my Ariat boots (which is mainly what I've owned), with some styles fitting me in 12D, and others in 11EE. I think I have a slightly below-average instep, and I am specifically looking at the Jase. I don't think any of my local stores carry Double H anymore, so I can't really try them on before buying. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
