Saved from the melt

I got tore to shreds on here a few hours ago for asking if I should melt a broken NA cuff (not this style). This one is unmarked but tested as silver- and I looked it up and it seems to be Zuni. Is that correct and what is it worth? Tia in advance and I promise not to melt

Can someone actually in the industry confirm?

I see comments on here about constitutional silver (junk) and generic, or even decent brand bullion being melted/refined for comex bars. Is it true that most generics that come across a LCS table just get melted? Junk doesn’t make sense to me, especially if you’re not paying like 50% melt- because Elemetal, a giant national refiner is only paying 85% on that material, so it seems like a slim margin unless you either have a better paying refiner, or are gouging the seller. I could see generics making more sense because you can move them faster by selling them for melt rather than trying to sell to an individual, but it seems surprising that they would just be consolidated for massive transfers in the 1000 ozt bars. Can someone who own/works in a LCS confirm or deny that bullion and coins bought are mostly just melted?

Can someone tell me about my $20 thrift road trip finds?

Got all of this for about $20, and the silver dime at the bank. I’m guessing most of this is 50’s ish besides the can, insulator, and aqua embossed bottle?

Free score

Lmfaoooo score! Someone posted these and the listing had been up for an hour and I went and got them! The ruffled basket thing is broken but the rest are all good! I’m wondering how old they are! They’re hand painted! Sorry for the bad glow pics- I only have the little keychain black light right now.

Is vegan fast food vegan?

Hello all,

I’m grappling with being vegan in a non vegan world, and how to minimize my impact.

I’m trying to decide if there’s any moral difference between buying the ingredients from a local grocery store and making an impossible burger (or other dinner) myself and going to a large fast food chain like Burger King and buying my dinner there.

fast food:

Pros:
Signals demand for vegan items: possibility of more vegan items that omnis may try and may lead to animal foods being replaced

Cons:
Possibility of still directly creating demand: ie wrong ingredients
Cross contact (if you care about that, but I don’t think it’s an ethical issue because you’re not paying for it and it’s not an added ingredient)
Funds a company mostly driven by producing cheap animal products

Grocery store:

Pros:
Also signals demand for vegan items
Less animal product focused
Minimal possibility of directly supporting animal ag
More direct supply chain drives

Cons:
Many vegan products owned by animal AG conglomerates
Still not fully vegan obv

I’m leaning towards swearing off fast food but I don’t think there’s a strong ethical/moral argument behind it

Have you guys seen this before?

It’s copper sheet covered in rubber. Taking it to the yard tomorrow morning. Was given to me by a family friend. Previously, I only had a few pounds and they bought it as “ICW burnable” which I’ve never heard of. That was over a year ago and before the price spike and it was worth $1.50/lb. So curious to see what they’ll pay on over 100 lbs of it

Is this worth anything?

My sterling melt crucible was on its last leg, so after its last melt I tossed it in some water and it exploded. It looks like it has some silver up on the walls and the bottom, is this worth anything to anyone?

Too good for crucible?

New to NA jewelry- as I’ve bought more jewelry for the precious metals, I’ve run into more NA jewelry and have felt bad scrapping it. This piece is completely unmarked- assuming it’s silver (didn’t want to scratch it before checking), is it worth keeping intact and trying to sell? Thanks
