PSA: Brisket on sale!

If there's a Publix where you live, check your weekly flyer. Where I live, Publix is selling choice brisket for $5.99/lbs. I haven't seen it that low in a loooong time.

EDIT: Looking at these responses and WOW! I guess beef prices have really come down!

What the grocery store giveth, the gas station taketh away....

One week since the global promo ended... five weeks to go to grant us the nights we earned....

This is so annoying. I'm eight nights away from hitting platinum and Marriott owes me eight nights. I would like to select my Annual Elite Choice benefit!

I finally experienced "The Power of M"....

So, I had two, one-night stays at two different Springhill Suites in North Carolina this week. The first hotel, my stay updated and I was credited the points and the elite night the afternoon after checking out. Same day!

The second hotel, the night updated IMMEDIATELY upon checkout, and the points posted that afternoon. Again, SAME DAY!

The FDAs seemed to be struggling to check me in at both properties (even though I already checked in on the app) and both of them mumbled something about the "new system."

Anyway, I'm sure the bugs will get worked out but this is WAAAAAAAY superior to the old way of waiting 10 days and filing missing stays cases all the time.

All praise The Power of M!

Wilmington, North Carolina. Market Street. Both within walking distance to the legendary Hieronymus seafood restaurant.

Contender #1 - the Doubletree, converted from a Holiday Inn. It's getting good reviews, and seems to be a more modern-looking property.

Contender #2 - Hotel Lela - Tapestry Collection. This property used to be a Ramada Inn. Half the property is Hotel Lela and the other half is a Tru. The pool area is shared. Combining a Tapestry with a Tru seems really weird, but whatever.

Hotel Lela boasts a golf simulator! That's different.

Only two floors. That seems odd.

Which would you choose?

It's our 250th birthday party! I would hope the cities are pulling out all the stops this year. We stayed at the Hilton Daytona Beach many years ago and watching fireworks from your room balcony is so much better than being down on the beach with the crowds.

What hotel in the U.S. will have the best views of a municipal fireworks show?

I was debating the "smothered steak" or the "smothered chicken" at a restaurant...

When it was time to order, I told the waitress, "I'd like the smothered chicken, medium rare."

She looked at me sort of funny, but didn't say anything.

My chicken was fully cooked, not medium rare.
