Bathtub squeak from floor tile…subfloor issue?

Hey everyone. Looking for insight/advice. Bathroom remodel is finishing up. Just had paint and drywall come through. Toilets and fixtures are left. We noticed that near the tub, when walking around it, there’s a noticeable, loud squeaking. Tub flexing? Subfloor? Suggestions on what, if anything, can be done about it?

Transition suggestion/input requested

Mid bathroom remodel. Existing flooring, new tile. During demo, they damaged the existing transition strip. We’ve tried finding something that matches well enough and are coming up empty. The GC is suggesting they’ll find something that matches “close enough.”

Thoughts on whether we should get an unfinished piece and try to stain it close? Go with something contrasting?

Maybe odd but…GRC as a winter car and dog mover?

Long time lurker, first time caller.

My lease is ending in a few months on my designated winter car and dog hauler, so I’m in the process of deciding what I want next.

Summer car is a Supra. Obviously not great when there’s a foot of snow on the ground. 😂 And we do get a lot of snow.

The next car is solely for when we bring our larger sized dog with us and for winter duties. The mind says RAV4 PHEV or a Maverick. The heart says…the GRC is a manual AWD rally car.

Am I being silly?

Cat with diabetes (remission) and asthma. Inhaler medication decision.

Hi all! I’m coming to the hive mind to see what you all think.

Our 12 year old male cat was diagnosed with asthma last year. He was prescribed prednisone which he took for a period of time. He subsequently developed diabetes which we believe came as a result of the longer term oral steroids.

His diabetes is in remission. No insulin, no meds. Yay!

However…his asthma seems to be acting up. Not terrible, but it’s there. I’m thinking it’s allergy related, as we’ve had monsoons recently, and everyone with allergies is suffering right now.

Our vet offered two options for the inhalers: the typical steroid inhaler, the albuterol rescue inhaler, or both.

The concern we have (and to some extent, the vet mentioned it as well) is that the steroid is what caused his diabetes in the first place. Obviously the inhaler is somewhat different than the oral solution, but we still worry.

Are there people here who have experience with diabetic and asthmatic cats? We’re leaning toward the albuterol inhaler since his asthma isn’t bad and may be seasonal related, but we want to do what’s best for him.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Visiting in September. Hotel North? 4 or 6 hour wildlife cruise?

Hi! We’re coming to visit in early September and are debating staying at Harbor 360 vs Hotel North. Hotel North seems like it’s brand new…but the reviews sound promising. I believe Harbor 360 is local owned, but not sure about Hotel North.

We also plan to do one of the Kenai Fjords outings. There’s a 4 hour that stays in the bay, and a 6 hour that goes to the NP/glacier.

Any thoughts on either or both would be appreciated. 🙂

Vanity knob/pull decision.

Here is the mock up of our new vanity. It shows knobs, but that’s just the rendering.

We’re deciding on knobs, pulls, or mix. Our first thought was knobs on doors, pulls on drawers. We’re wondering if the right side being a top drawer and bottom door will look weird with a pull on top and knob on bottom?

We won’t be putting a knob or pull on the false drawer in the top middle.

What option would you choose?

Growth on dog’s leg. Skin tag?

Video of the spot in question: video

We noticed this on our dog’s front leg today. It doesn’t seem to be bothering her. She lets us touch and manipulate it. Is this a skin tag? Or something we should be going to an after hours vet to have looked at? Ours is closed until Monday.

LG Sidekick washer randomly has water in it…

Hi all. Weird question, looking for suggestions. We purchased a new LG washer and dryer set. We got the storage pedestal for the dryer and the sidekick mini washer for under the full size washer. We’re not living in the new house currently as we’re renovating it, so the washer and dryer aren’t being actively used.

We’ve noticed that every week or two, there will be a small amount of water sitting in the Sidekick (the picture included is more than what’s sitting on there; I had started a rinse and drain cycle to get rid of the water then thought to take a picture). There’s no water in the top/full size washer.

Thoughts on why water would randomly be in the Sidekick? It does drain after the cycle ends, then no water for a week or so…then randomly water.

Shower work in progress. Mortar coverage and chip/gap questions. (Reloaded with better pictures.)

Hi all. Tile was finally set in our shower renovation. GC involved. We had two specific questions once we came home this weekend and looked at it. Hopefully these aren’t the “vague in-progress” questions the rules mention avoiding.

Pictures one and two are the bench. The tile shown is the vertical tile. A quartz top will go on the still exposed membrane. Is that mortar coverage correct?

The third and fourth pictures. Are we being picky if we ask for the tile with a chunk taken out of it to be replaced? The gap there is slightly more than 1/4”. It’s the tile in front of where you’ll be facing the shower head.

For what it’s worth, this two bathroom renovation is just over $100k, and we’ve caught the GC/subs halfassing things previously and called them on it. We want to make sure we’re not being overly critical following those instances.

Where to terminate tile on pony wall partially covered by vanity?

Mid-remodel now. Picture is old but don’t have a more recent one yet. The pony wall is being tiled. There will be a filler strip between the pony wall and vanity. Do we:

A) end the tile at the filler strip (GC’s recommendation)
B) continue the tile past the filler strip and have the filler strip installed against the tile (the tile is a bit rough/slightly uneven)

Given the tile choice, we’re leaning toward A but wanted to know if we’re missing something.

First time making a Chicago deep dish. Critiques welcome!

Super happy for a first time try. Any critiques welcome. Our tummies said don’t change a thing, make it again. 😂

Prospective purchase. Questions!

Hey all. The lease on our EV6 is up soon, and we’re considering an XC60 Recharge to replace it. We’re in Phoenix, so right now’s in the 110* range, so we can’t really test out the heated seats and steering wheel. Our Audi has a useless heated wheel…thoughts on the Volvo heated wheel and seats?

Massaging seats worth it?

We’re leaning toward the cardamom interior. I’m guessing it’s much easier to keep clean than the blonde.

Light Blue with Bronze Wheels?

Deciding between Light Blue and Space White. Trying to decide if bronze wheels would go good with the blue…can’t find any pictures. Anyone have any?

What do we think of this combo?

Green tile will be the long, accent wall in the full length of room shower.

Textured tile up top will be side walls of shower and pony wall. Matching tile, but smooth finish, will be bathroom floor.

Mosaic will be shower floor and niche back.

Countertop will be…countertop (lol) and bench top.

Feel like we’re in bizarro land. Are we crazy?

We’re looking to remodel two bathrooms, a primary and a secondary. The master is 8.5x12. The secondary is 5x10.5.

The secondary is fairly straightforward: remove vanity and one piece tub and surround, replace with new vanity and countertop (quartz), tile floor, tub and tile surround. Replace toilet.

The primary is a bit more involved but not…insanely. Remove shower enclosure and soaking tub, replace with single wall to wall shower. Keep vanity, new countertop (quartz). Replace toilet. Add vent fan.

We’ve gotten three quotes: $45k, $100k, $103k ($65k primary, $37k secondary…$3500 to paint the two rooms included in those prices lol). The $45k quote obviously feels like an outlier. It came from a local granite place. The two higher ones came from GCs.

Is this just…the state of things? Or is ~$37k absolute insanity for a standard secondary rip out and replace?
