🔍 The Real Culprit: ⁠UpdaterStartupUtility⁠
This is an old, legacy background tool from Adobe that handles background updates.
💥 Why it’s causing the lag:
The newest Windows updates changed how the system handles background tasks and CPU threads to make things snappier. Modern apps adapt just fine, but this older Adobe utility can't read the new rules.
Instead of sitting quietly, it gets trapped in a hidden, high-speed crash loop in the background. You won't see an error message on your screen, but it silently burns up processing power, which causes your desktop, mouse, and menus to lag out and freeze.
🛠️** How to fix it instantly**:
You don't have to change anything inside your actual Adobe Creative Cloud apps—they will still work perfectly fine. You just need to stop this one background file from starting up.
1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
2. Click on Startup Apps on the left menu (the icon looks like a small speedometer).
3. Find UpdaterStartupUtility (or Adobe Application Manager).
4. Right-click it and hit Disable.
5. Restart your computer.
