People seem to be getting pretty unlucky with Prune. I don’t play Varka or anything, but here was my first pull into the banner

Would Lohen/Escoffier/Furina/____ work as a team?

Or rather, would pulling for Escoffier later on make a good freeze team? I plan on getting Lohen c0r1 and using him on a melt team with Durin, but wanted to know if his kit was versatile for other cryo reactions

Are any of these weapons even decent for Durin? (Ignore my cat)

The weapon in the picture (I ain’t typing all that) seems like a decent Atk Stick? But even that feels like not a great choice.

I’m pulling him, but not his sig bc I want Lohen really badly. He’ll also be going on some other teams like Kinich probably

Dear Slicer, I don’t believe you’re supposed to do that

I’ve played Kart Racers my whole life, and I’m pretty sure I’ve never experienced something like this

LIFE: A Jedi’s Path REVIEW. (Thanks, KamSandwhich, for making me impulse buy another board game)

For context: A board game Youtuber named KamSandwhich has a small series where he goes over the weird and cool spin off versions of popular board games, and I feel like everytime he uploads I see SOME game that makes me go “I need that” lol.

—— Basic Game Overview

This time it was LIFE: A Jedi’s Path, which plays a little differently than regular LIFE. Instead of getting Life tokens, you have tokens for 4 different ‘Jedi Stat’ tokens to collect (Logic, Intuition, Fighting and Energy). These will help you, as many spaces and cards require you to spin and then add your various stats to see if you hit the required target number.

The other big difference is that the shortcuts are now “Dark Side Shortcuts.” Dark Side spaces are usually better than regular spaces, but also give you a Dark Side point whenever you do, collect three to try to become a Sith Lord.

At the end of the game, if all players are on the same side of the force, the winner goes to whoever has the most stat points. HOWEVER if the game ends with at least one Jedi and one Sith, the strongest from each side will actually get to go head to head to decide the winner. 3 stats are chosen by the Sith player that the two will have to duel over (decided by spinning, then adding your tokens of the correct type). The Jedi needs to only win 1 of the three fights, as the Sith picks every category. But if they fail all three times than the Sith win, pushing the galaxy towards chaos.

—— REVIEW TIME

The Gameplay: 7 or 8/10

Like most board games I own, I played this in a 3 person group, and we all had fun! If you consider yourself a Star Wars fan of any level, even if it’s more surface level, then the game is definitely worth picking up. The game doesn’t have anything TOO unique, at the end of the day it is a LIFE game, but that doesn’t stop it from making most with what it does. Choosing how you want to distribute stats to your Jedi is both engaging and meaningful, and the dark side paths are genuinely tempting to go down, even if you’re trying to be as good as possible (For example, during my game I found myself having to choose between adding 1 skill, or going to the dark side to steal 2 from another player.)

There’s even a little section in the back of the instructions where you can look at you main and secondary stat at the end of the game to see “What kind of Jedi did you become.” Which is really cute and flavorful.

My biggest complaint was that the ending duel felt really anticlimactic, but to be fair our Sith min-maxed his fighting stat, so his other stats were really easy to beat. Though because of this I offer the idea of duel at the end being a best 2 out of 3 where the two players take turns picking stats (with Sith still picking first).

The game definitely has enough to stand out from standard LIFE, which is ultimately what it should be trying to reach from a gameplay perspective.

Board Quality: 9/10

This game is 24 years old (2002), but besides some corner damage on the box, I got mine in incredible condition. The board itself is sturdy and sizable. The spinner is themed around a ship landing pad, and the iconic LIFE buildings are now: The senate building, a Jedi star fighter, a Tatooine house, and lastly the Jedi council room, which is actually big enough to fit the winner player’s Jedi inside.

There are also 4 small decks of cards. The cards are physically smaller than standard card size, and came out of the box arched from sitting there for over 20 years, which is completely understandable, albeit unfortunate. But other than that they are sturdy cards with a shiny finish, which are nice.

The tokens are made of your standard sturdy board game cardboard, alongside the player pieces which sit in small plastic stands. As I said, I got everything in good quality, the only worry I have would be the character cutouts wearing over time. I’d personally change the cutouts for metal or die cast minis (Like most Star Wars Monopoly pieces).

——Overall

There isn’t much left to say, we all had a good time playing the game, and we can see ourselves taking this off the self to play it, definitely if we ever have a guest over. I’d say if any of this SOUNDS somewhat interesting, then you’ll probably have an worthwhile time playing it

Nicole or Durin?

Hello! I really like Lohen and plan on pulling for him c0r1 on his banner. As he’s my first real Cryo character, I have no idea what I’m doing. I know I should 100% get Durin and Nicole, but for rn I can only get one or the other, which one should I pull for?
