I've noticed that a fair amount of Americans are moving to Cambodia when they can get their social security. This is maybe only $900 a month. And I say, good for them.

Not everyone grows up in wealth or a happy family. If someone has struggled with money all their life and has really no hope of retirement, why not come to Cambodia? You won't be a king on $900 a month, but it's sure as shit a better life than a 40 hour a week job you hate at 65 years old.

If you're a decent, polite person and you can get by on that money, then it's a no brainer.

I'm not one of these guys, and I'm well aware that there's bad apples. But I thought I'd give a shout out to your average guy who wants some calm in the final decades. Why the hell not.

I popped over to extend an Ed visa today. I expected them to say what is now the usual: the queue is full, come back tomorrow morning and put your papers in the basket.

Instead they said they were full until the 17th. Today is the 9th. Wtf?

After some sighing and shrugging, I was given the go-ahead to come back on Monday the 14th, since that's the day my visa expires. They told me in the future to extend my visa a month in advance.

I mean, it was all very chill and polite. But this is getting crazy.

To me, this illustrates the central role of forgiveness in Thai culture. It is a reminder to me of the nature of forgiveness in my practice.
