1585 United Kingdom copy of the Book of Job in Bishops Bible Translation which was commisioned by Queen Elizabeth The First

Thought this might interest you as it a pre-KJV Anglican translation.

Story Time: During COVID (but pre-lockdown) my Protestant grandmother had picked me up from school to take me to the local thrift store as I needed some pre-coloured papers & didn't want to pay full price as i needed some for a high school project & discovered this copy of the Book of Job in the amongst the stacks of sheets of scrap papers of which there was both stacks of coloured & white. If you want to know how I paid it was only 1 Loonie (a.k.a. Canadian dollar) for it & it is by far my rarest Christian item in my personal possession. Pictures are taken borrowing by me borrowing a family member's phone as they are 11 inch x 17 inch pages & otherwise I would not be capturable by my laptop camera as the resolution would be too low for you to read.

Here's a link to read the whole translation of the bible (adapted to use only the modern 26 letter alphabet): https://www.textusreceptusbibles.com/Bishops/

TW: Occasional use of racial slurs for East Asians (& a once off for Natives & African-Americans) which were added by English dub studio & not in the original Italian in order to make his attacks seem more justified (at least that is what i heard on an old DVD that included a commentary track) rather than make him cold blooded killer

[2005] Some guy was on a cell phone when I was trying to watch Game 1 of The World Series with White Sox. I hope that this guy becomes famous online for being on his cell phone during such an important baseball game

[Meta] I know nothing about baseball I just thought'd be funny to use the Pope in one & couldn't find any other one that was verifiable as originating in the pre-papal era due to so many AI edits of him

▲ 15 r/rosary

Recently got my rosary (that I made with Catholic Gramps 15 years ago) back from a repair shop after commissioning an extension so i could use it again both for prayer & to wear

Sorry for bad camera i have to use laptop as it is the best i have access to. Context: I had some small beads left over & put them in a pill bottle away for years with me forgetting about them for years & only last month finding them again in storage. Also the reason no saints & no Mary are on the rosary is because Dad thinks of it is as putting someone above Jesus but I hope y'all still enjoy it as a nice rosary

P.S. I don't feel comfortable sharing photos from the family archive so i can't share the original so imagine approximately 1/3 of the beads on the big loop & you;d have roughly what it looked like back then.

[48 AD] Just got a letter from Paul of Tarsus. I live in Galatia & can't wait to read it with my Gentile friends in town as they enjoyed his speech when he last visited

Asise from BibleMan, Davey And Goliath, Superbook, Flying House, What's In The Bible, & Veggietles what are some Good Protestant shows for children you'd recommend?

I'm trying to help a local family out as they've asked me for advice as they want their kids to learn English. They have a 4 year old, an 8 year old, & a 12 year old so please specify the age demographic for the shows. I often explain help with Old Testament verse explanation due to them being an (ethnic) Jewish perspective on certain verses.

If English were to never have had words derived from the names of deities in Polytheistic beliefs (both extant & extinct) how different would modern day English be in conversation?

I am genuinely curious

Are any of you biologically related to any canonized saint(s)?

I know it sounds weird but I am genuinely curious.

Also I humbly apologize to the Mods of the sub for my constant question spam as I am known by my family to be overly inquisitive about things I am passionate about & am grateful such a sub exists for us AuDHD believers in Christ who can use it to avoid ridicule in a church for sounding stupid

This NRSV Bible that physically saved my life(I hope this qualifies as it has deuterocanon (even though it is called apocrypha on the cover))

When I was around 10, my dad had to attend a doctor's appointment after church, so he told us to try finding a ride (this was before Uber & before cellphones were common in town to allow you to call a taxi), so mom & I went around asking, but sadly no one was willing to do so we walked home where there are railroad tracks nearby. When mom & I were most of the way home, a train was approaching and mom wanted to hurry home, but I wanted to watch the train go by (as I was usually allowed to do once each month for good behaviour), so I jumped the track & nearly got hit by the train, but instead my bible fell out of my pocket & got run over instead while managing to stay stitched together. Thus, every now & then, I open this edition & perform some canticles using it as a way of thanking God for my survival.

P.S. I use Canadian grammar so please don't complain about spelling differences

Have any of you visited the vineyards that make your sacramental wine? If so what was it like?

Just curious as I found the making of the sacramental wine fascinating as there was a documentary I saw on youtube a while back

Would it be offensive to name a kid Kerub

Please understand I am a Yiddish Anglican & when I was 10 visiting my Catholic Grandparents & they took me to their church & a family asked me (as they already knew my grandfather as he was the doctor who helped with them with their first born) for Hebrew spellings in Latin alphabet of bible names because they wanted to use an alternate spelling as they called & I meant to say Kalev (which is Hebrew spelling for Caleb) however due to a sore jaw (when trying to get up the church steps on a rainy day with no boots & falling down the stairs) & I instead suggested Kerub (which is the Hebrew rendering of Cherub) & I am unsure as to whether or not it offensive to name a kid after the type of angel with (a) flaming sword(s).
