Made a free tool that syncs saves between Steam Deck and PC without Steam Cloud

Built OpenSave because I got tired of Steam Cloud only covering half my library. It's peer-to-peer,pair your Deck and PC once with a room code, and any save (Steam, emulator, GOG, whatever) syncs the moment it changes. No account, nothing stored on a server you don't control.

It auto-finds saves inside Proton prefixes too, so most Deck games are detected without pointing it at anything manually. There's an official Flatpak that runs on stock SteamOS in Desktop Mode.

Free, open source with MIT License, no catch: https://open-save.vercel.app

Happy to answer questions, also very open to any and all reports!

Built a free open-source app to sync game saves between PCs, Linux, emulators, etc. (OpenSave)

Hey everyone 👋

I've been working on an open-source project called OpenSave, and I thought some people here might find it useful.

The idea is simple:

  • 🎮 Automatically sync game saves between devices
  • 🕹️ Supports emulators and native PC games
  • 🪟 Windows ↔ 🐧 Linux path translation
  • 📸 Save snapshots and backups
  • ⚠️ Conflict detection and resolution
  • 🔍 Automatic game detection
  • 🌐 Works over LAN or the internet
  • 🆓 Completely free and open source

The goal is basically to bring a Steam Cloud-like experience to games that don't have cloud saves, emulator saves, pirated games, GOG games, and anything else you throw at it.

I originally built it because I was tired of manually copying saves between devices and couldn't find something that was simple enough for everyday gamers.

I'm still looking for feedback and testers, so if this sounds interesting, I'd love to hear your thoughts or feature suggestions!

Made an open-source save syncing app because Steam Cloud doesn't help with non-Steam games

Hey everyone,

I've been building a free and open-source project called SyncSave, mainly because I wanted an easy way to keep save files synchronized between different PCs.

The goal is simple: automatically keep your save files synchronized between multiple PCs without needing a subscription or a central server.

Features:

  • Works with non-Steam games
  • Windows and Linux support
  • Emulator support
  • Peer-to-peer syncing
  • No account needed
  • Open source

The project is still actively being developed, and I'd really appreciate people trying it out and telling me what breaks or what features you'd like to see.

SaveSync - Free open-source app for backing up and syncing game saves

Hey everyone,

I recently released SaveSync, a free and open-source utility for backing up and syncing game saves and other folders.

Features

  • Automatic game save backups
  • Sync saves between multiple PCs
  • Cross-platform support (Windows ↔ Linux)
  • Restore saves easily after reinstalls or crashes
  • Supports custom folders, not just game saves
  • Lightweight and simple UI
  • No subscriptions or accounts required
  • Completely free and open-source

Useful for

  • Frequent Windows reinstalls
  • Switching between desktop and laptop
  • Moving between Windows and Linux machines
  • Steam Deck users
  • Modded games
  • Games without cloud saves
  • Keeping important folders synchronized

The project is still actively being developed, and I'm open to feature requests and suggestions. One advantage of being a small project is that you can directly request features or improvements, and I'll do my best to implement them.

Made a free open-source app to backup/sync game saves automatically

Hey everyone, I recently made a small utility app called SaveSync because I got tired of losing save files after reinstalls/crashes

It automatically backs up and syncs game saves locally for almost all launchers and clients including gog, and I’m planning to keep improving it over time.

Main things:

  • Free & completely open-source
  • Lightweight
  • Simple UI
  • Made for gamers who constantly reinstall/mod games

Still early in development, so I’d genuinely love feedback/suggestions from the community
