I've watched this years ago and I hate when I randomly think of it.

Here are my thoughts on some of the more popular disturbing movies people list:

-I laughed at the exorcist, the mouth on that demon was killing me! I felt bad for the little girl, but the demon had me dying!

-I'm in the minority of people that thought Hereditary was ridiculous (besides the scene of brother driving home, that was perfection).

-Insidious still cracks me up, I watch that for a laugh.

-The Ring was sad, but not disturbing in the same way Tusk was.

-Obsession was good, but not particularly disturbing, more so frustrating.

I don't count straight up depraved movies that there just for shock as horror, fyi.

This was everything I want my literary fiction to be.

This was so human, and heartbreaking, and hard to read, but I could not put it down.

I loved the way we moved back and forth through time and to multiple POV's. I loved that I hated Maddie's parent so much, because of how real and horrible they were. I loved the glimpse into how this came to be in the very beginning of the story. And I loved that ending. That ending, that ending, that ending.

That ending was perfection.

The only thing I did not like was the switches from fist person to third person perspective. I so wish it was consistent through out. Other than that, this collection was everything I love about books that deal with humans.

It is messy, and sad, and blood pressure inducing, and wonderful. Where is home when you are not truly wanted anywhere?

Would recommend! I cannot wait to read more from this author in the future!

This book was so freaking cute!

As an adult that reads middle grade novels I sometimes have to put myself in the mind of a younger audience when reading. With this one I did not have to do that, I was entertained from start to finish.

I really liked out three main characters and the ups and downs they experienced through out a summer without each other.

All the situations felt real and age appropriate and the issues they each had to overcome were well thought out.

I love that this is a book young Black girls can have the deal with old friendships, new friendships, crushes, and new experiences.

Would recommend do both young and older readers!

I had such a fun time reading this one and I can't wait to read more form this author~

Some books I found at Goodwill and local used book store. I've never heard of Nikki Carter, but I love a good middlegrade novel so I was happy that I found the whole collection!

So instead of arguing I went direct to the author to figure out if I was wrong or not.

I can admit that I was wrong, I have no issue with that.

I do take issue with authors using vague language around race that causes these issues in the first place, like why did I have to dig for that?

What I do have an issue with is the mods of this community deleting my post bc apparently saying biracial and mono-racial Black are two different things, is wrong. My bad, I didn't know it was 1902 and we still followed the racist "one drop" rule like Black blood is a taint.

Next time a racially ambiguous Biracial person plays a Black person in a movie or show don't get mad. See: Zoe Saldana playing Nina Simone in full Black face.

To the Mods: I LITERALLY said Afro-Latinos are Black in my post that got removed but okay.

If the hill you want to die on is the "one drop" rule, you're anti-Black. Period. ✌🏾

And yes, I did want to see what I looked like darker skinned, I'm literally Black how is that wrong? I can't want to know what I would look with dark skin? I'm light skinned, I was curious, Lmao okay, burn me at the stake then.

I'm perfectly happy with what I look like, I know I'm cute, but I wondered what I'd look like with darker skin. I even told one of the people to abort the mission if it started to look like Black face.

I don't have any shame in my posts, that's why my profile isn't private. But I bet you thought you took me down by saying that. Lol. You'll have find someone less confident to do that.

It was fun in this community for a bit, but I'm not with that silencing bs. ✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾

Shelly Page is a Black author, I recently read one of her books, and while I enjoyed it, I noticed she never has two fully Black main characters (she's only written two books so far). I commented this on her Insta, is this rude? lol

EDIT: Since the general consensus was that it's rude (and I'm not arguing against that, I'm mostly arguing with people that are acting like they don't know Biracial, racially ambiguous, mixed, and Black aren't all different things!) I have removed the comment.

It's not hard yall: Race is a social construct. If you're not visibly Black, you're not socially Black. Meaning, say it with me class, you're not Black.
If you have to show me a picture of your parent, grandparent, etc. to prove your race, you've already proven my point.

Has anyone found a good social media to post art that isn't Instagram?

I was wanting to go back to Cara, does anyone use that? I just want to have fun posting my art again without being on these garbage social media sites and ai farmers.

I want an art community again, I used to have one on insta but insta has changed so much, I don't feel community there anymore.

I found this in the Goodwill and bought it bc I love checkered patterns. But I don't actually know what logo this is, it might not even be a logo, it could just be a design.

But the tag has faded away so I'm not sure. Any help is appreciated!
