>Purse First Impressions is back for Episode 4 of Drag Race Down Under vs. the World, and this week Courtney is joined by the fabulous Vanity to unpack the season’s second design challenge: Franken-Drag. The queens are cutting, swapping, sewing, and serving as they turn three different looks into one brand-new runway creation... with some results far more monstrous than others.

Lazy Susan was on Bob's Purse First Studio Podcast recently, and she mentioned one of her all time favourite performances was one Bob did of Celine Dions 'All coming back to me'. I found it hilarious and it really made me smile. Makes me want to see more performance type lip syncs from her!

Has anyone had an MRI before? What did you do to kill the time?

I tried to look up answers, but most of them were about picturing stuff or creating music out of the sounds or meditating. 30-60 mins stuck in a noisy donut with nothing but my thoughts sounds awful.

Any tips? Ty

Edit: i'm not claustrophobic nor am I anxious about the scan. It's a matter of distraction since imagining and creating music is not an option.
People have said that music is a possibility so I'll definitely be enquiring about that

There have been many episodes where Qualia has been mentioned. Today's episode, for example, about colour blindness.

Can we get an episode on the different types of Qualia? Conditions like Aphantasia have only recently been "discovered" and named. Many people don't realise they may be experiencing one.

QUALIA
>Defined as instances of subjective experience

APHANTASIA
>Not being able to form visual images in the mind. It was linked to weaker autobiographical memory — meaning personal memories may feel less vivid or detailed. It was also associated with lower self-esteem, more emotional distress, stronger perfectionism, and feeling more different or disconnected from others.
A 2021 study indicates that people with aphantasia may also experience anauralia, a term that’s now being used to describe the absence of auditory imagery — or the inner voice.

SDAM (Severely Deficient Autobiographical Memory)
>SDAM is a lifelong inability to vividly re-experience personal memories from a first-person perspective.
People with SDAM can not mentally relive events, though general learning and semantic memory remain intact.

SDAM individuals often rely on:
*Semantic/factual memory,
*Familiarity
*Verbal rehearsal,
*And non-visual reasoning instead of episodic recollection

HYPERTHYMESIA
>Also known as hyperthymestic syndrome or highly superior autobiographical memory (HSAM), it is a condition that leads people to be able to remember an abnormally large number of their life experiences in vivid detail.

HYPERPHANTASIA
>Is the condition of having extremely vivid mental imagery. It is the opposite condition to aphantasia, where mental visual imagery is not present. The experience of hyperphantasia is more common than aphantasia and has been described as being “as vivid as real seeing”.

SYNAESTHESIA
>A neurological phenomenon where the stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway automatically and involuntarily triggers experiences in another.
For example, someone with synaesthesia might taste specific words, see vivid colours when listening to music, or perceive letters and numbers as having distinct personalities

ANAURALIA
>describes people’s inability to imagine voices, sounds, and music. Anauralia can be divided into two categories: imagining hearing sounds and imagining making sounds. Most self-reported aphantasics also reported weak or entirely absent auditory imagery; and participants lacking auditory imagery tended to be aphantasic. Similarly, vivid visual imagery tended to co-occur with vivid auditory imagery.

HYPERAURALIA
>Individuals report experiencing ‘hearing’ imagined sounds very clearly in their ‘mind’s ear’.

NTERNAL MONOLOGUE/ INNER VOICE
>Also referred to as “internal dialogue,” “the voice inside your head,” or an “inner voice,” your internal monologue. It is the result of certain brain mechanisms that cause you to “hear” yourself talk in your head without actually speaking and forming sounds.

>While an internal monologue is a common occurrence, not everyone experiences it. There’s a lot that researchers have yet to uncover about why some people frequently “hear” an inner voice and what it means.
Auditory imagery in the form of inner speech is believed to play a key role in cognitive development.
