I see a lot of people talk about side projects turning into businesses, but I’m curious how realistic it is in the UK context, with time, tax and workload constraints.

There is a lot of conflicting advice about what homeowners can legally do with bonded cement (like garage roofs or garden sheds). While the HSE guidelines allow for non licensed removal in specific circumstances, the disposal costs at local tips are skyrocketing in 2026. Who has successfully navigated the hazardous waste booking system at their local council recently?

It feels like a lot of providers end up blaming Openreach whenever repairs or installations take ages. Makes me wonder how much of the UK broadband experience still depends on Openreach, regardless of who you actually pay each month.

I’m getting closer to starting my ASYE and it’s starting to feel a bit real now. I’ve read the basics, but I know there are always things you only really understand once you’re in it day to day. Just trying to go in a bit more prepared and avoid any obvious mistakes.
