Shows referencing things their target audience wouldn't get

  • Victorious - The Season 3 premiere was titled "The Breakfast Bunch", and the whole episode was a kid-friendly version of the John Hughes film "The Breakfast Club".
  • Henry Danger - The Season 4 episode "Rubber Duck" was a kid-friendly version of the Tom Cruise movie "Risky Business", substituting "WTF" for the titular "Rubber Duck", among other changes.
  • iCarly - in the episode "iOpen a Restaurant", Gibby is taunted by bully Billy Boots, who repeatedly taunts him to take his shirt off, which is a reference to Goodfellas, specifically the scene where Billy Batts taunts Tommy about his shoeshine past.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants - in the episode "Sailor Mouth", Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob and Patrick about the 13 bad words, to which Squidward replies "Don't you mean there are only seven?". This is a reference to George Carlin, and his "Seven Bad Words You Shouldn't Say on Television".

Why was this shot of Ray in the "Ox Pox" episode?

I was always confused why this shot of Ray looking on in confusion as the Time Jerker's time machine turns off was included in the "Ox Pox" episode.

It doesn't really match up with the later scene where he jumps through the portal, not realizing it wasn't turned on.

What do y'all think?

[Funny Trope] When characters already know about someone else's secret, but act none the wiser

  • Some Assembly Required: in the show Some Assembly Required, a guy named Jarvis Raines sues a toy company and after winning, becomes the new owner of it. Throughout the show, the former CEO, Candace, disguises herself as a cleaning lady from "Meeskatania" named Mrs. Bubkes. In the series finale, when everybody parts, Candace finally reveals herself, but everybody already knew from the beginning, and Jarvis gives her back the company with no hesitation.
  • Knight Squad: in the lesser known Nickelodeon show Knight Squad, the character Ciara (played by Daniella Perkins) is a knight-in-training and part of the "Phoenix Squad". However, she was actually the princess of the kingdom the show took place in, Astoria. When she reveals her true identity to her father, the King, in the series finale, he confessed that he already found out in the past.

Jerry Russo was in College Years???

Okay, this is the cameo that shocked me.

I watched the Poker episode for the first time and I was surprised by David Deluise, who played Jerry Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place making a cameo.

What's even more surprising is that David Deluise is only 2 years older than Mark Paul Gosselaar and Mario Lopez in real life.

Who are y'all's least favorite characters?

Here are mine:

  • Chuck
  • Mandy (just super annoying)
  • Sam (mostly in the episode "iCan't Take It", because she abused Gibby for no reason)
  • Ms. Ackerman
  • Mr. Devlin (who gives a B just for printing on the wrong paper???)
  • Mr. Howard (of course)
  • Ms. Briggs (obviously)
  • Officer Carl
  • Chief Donker (you can't blacklist someone from the fire department)
  • Freddie's boss at the Pear Store (forgot her name)

Mixed characters (I dislike these characters but they're still funny):

  • Nevel
  • Wade Collins
  • Nora

Anyone else find it satisfying when the "Popular this week" tab matches up with the "New from friends" tab?

I never knew Eobard Thawne was in College Years!

I was watching the Rush Week episode and I was surprised by the appearance of Matt Letscher as Rick!

Matt Letscher plays Eobard Thawne/The Reverse Flash in the CW Flash show.

How does the housing waitlist work?

I'm a rising sophomore, and I submitted the 2026-2027 housing application on April 7th, since it would open again on that day.

I'm currently on a waitlist, being #148 on a list of 237 people.

I was just curious on how this worked, and when I can expect an answer by.

Thank you!

Saved by the Bell and Family Matters went down opposite evolutionary paths as they aired.

Saved by the Bell started off with more wacky hijinks, nonsensical dream sequences, and sci-fi elements such as Kevin the Robot. However, as the show went on, it became more grounded, and the plots became more relatable and about everyday problems.

Family Matters, however, started off grounded, it was basically a middle class counterpart to the Cosby Show, focusing on elevator operator Harriette Winslow (originally from Perfect Strangers) and her husband, police sergeant Carl Winslow, living in Chicago with their family. However, as the character Steve Urkel got popular, Family Matters became more ridiculous and had increased sci-fi elements, like Urkel's transformation machine he used to transform into Stefan Urquelle, his time machine, his teleportation machine aka "Urk-Pad", and so on.

As Jordan Peele said in a Key and Peele sketch parodying the ridiculousness of later Family Matters episodes, the show started off as a "blue collar Cosby Show", and then turned into "Quantum Leap".

But what do y'all think about this?

How did Freddie find out about the chip in his head?

In iGo to Japan, Ms. Benson tells Spencer about a chip she installed into Freddie's head, and she hasn't told him about that.

However, in iStill Psycho, Freddie mentions that his mom installed the chip in his head, and they use it to let Ms. Benson and T-Bo know where to find them.

How did he find out about the chip in his head?

What would you think if Scott directed a movie?

With the trend of youtubers directing horror films, with the Philippou brothers (RackaRacka) directing Talk to Me and Bring Her Back, Curry Barker directing Obsession, Markiplier directing Iron Lung, and Kane Pixels directing Backrooms, what type of movie would you think Scott would direct?

Something that doesn't make sense about "The Rerun"...

So, "The Rerun" is the Season 5 premiere and the sequel to the Season 4 finale "The Disaster", which ended with Gumball falling into the void, but managing to rewind back to the start.

In "The Rerun", Gumball accidentally makes his parents young again, which endangers himself, Darwin and Anais.

In order, Anais, Darwin and Gumball start to fade from existence, albeit partially with Gumball.

But what doesn't make sense to me is Anais fading away first.

Since Gumball is the oldest sibling, he should've faded away first.

What would you think the episode had gone this way, with Gumball fading first?

"Gibby!" "No running in the museum!" "YARRR!"

This is one of my favorite scenes in the show, it comes from the episode "iHire an Idiot", when Gibby just ragebaits the museum security guard Roy into chasing him after purposely disobeying the "No Flash Photography" rule.

The way Gibby yells "Yar" like a pirate always kills me.
