I wish we got a proper send-off for Greta's dad.

I wish we got a proper send-off for Greta's dad.

Dave McClure, played by Ron Canada, was the owner of Mighty Weenie (where Eddie worked in a few seasons) and the father of Greta, Eddie's third and most recurring girlfriend.

In the only two episodes he appeared in, he was an obstacle to Eddie and Greta's relationship.

In his and Greta's first episode "My Bodyguard", he threatens to fire Eddie if he doesn't treat Greta well. When Greta makes an advance on Eddie and kisses him, Dave catches them and fires Eddie on the spot, but Greta manages to give her father a piece of her mind.

In his final episode "Walking My Baby Back Home", Dave forbids Greta from seeing Eddie after he brought her home late after curfew. So, Eddie has Steve Urkel act as a go-between, with Urkel pretending to take Greta out while he actually delivers her to Eddie. The plan fails when Eddie's car runs out of gas and they are forced to walk to Greta's house in the pouring rain. Steve takes the blame, to which Dave fires him. When Eddie takes responsibility, Dave fires him too, to which Steve calls out his and Eddie's boss.

He didn't physically appear in any episode after that, but in the episode "Getting Buff", he was mentioned to have financially cut off Greta due to her continuing to date Eddie, and she had chose Eddie over her father's money, resulting in her working as a nude model in Steve's art class.

How would y'all feel about a proper conclusion to this story arc? I wish we got a scene of Carl Winslow calling out Dave for his actions and treatment of both Eddie and Greta.

Do y'all think they should've kept Eddie living in his apartment with Waldo?

I felt it was pretty interesting, and having it for only the sixth season was pretty dumb of them.

It made for some interesting plots, like Steve and Eddie eating Waldo's midterm cake and Eddie trying to get into the fraternity.

It should've been utilized more.

What do y'all think?

I don't know where I'm going with housing...

I'm a rising second year student, and I'm currently on the wait-list for 2026-2027 housing, and I'm not sure if it's worth waiting this long.

I've been trying to ask my friends if they already had somewhere to live, and they did.

I feel like it's pretty hard for me to stay in a one bedroom apartment all by myself, because it'll be harder to pay such a large amount rent per month since I'm unemployed.

Although my friend who's an RA said that VCU housing is more expensive than staying off campus, I'm still kinda concerned.

I asked around because I thought if I could get a roommate, I could just share the rent.

Does anyone have any advice for me? What I should next?

[Annoying Trope] "Yes, it's that character, but legally, we can't say it's him"

  • Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Arrow): The Arrowverse version of Oliver Queen is widely considered as the "CW Batman", since the Arrow show borrows many storylines and villains from Batman, including the League of Assassins, Slade Wilson/Deathstroke, and the Suicide Squad in one episode.
  • Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska (Gotham): Gotham is a TV show focusing on the origins of Batman through the eyes of then-Detective Jim Gordon. Twin brothers Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska, played by Cameron Monaghan, are introduced as this show's versions of the Joker. However, they legally couldn't say Jerome or Jeremiah was the Joker, calling them both "Proto-Jokers" instead.
  • The Real Scoutmaster (Camp Lazlo): in the Camp Lazlo finale "Lumpus's Last Stand", Lumpus is revealed to be insane and had locked the actual Camp Kidney scoutmaster in a closet, impersonating him. The real scoutmaster bears a resemblance to Heffer Wolfe from Rocko's Modern Life (which Camp Lazlo creator Joe Murray also made), with Tom Kenny voicing the character too. Since Rocko's is on Nickelodeon, and Camp Lazlo is on Cartoon Network, Heffer could not have made an appearance on the show.

If I had a nickel for every time a character played by Jason Earles got beaten up by a WWE wrestler, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?

The first screenshot is from the Hannah Montana episode "Love That Lets Go", where John Cena beat up Jackson in a dream sequence.

The second screenshot is from the Kickin' It episode "Kickin' It on our Own", where Rudy had to fight Kofi Kingston to win back ownership of his dojo.

TL;DR: first photo is John Cena, second photo is Kofi Kingston.

My ranking of Jim Carrey's legendary 1994 run (can't believe all three of these movies released the same year)

u/TronnyVon — 1 month ago

Characters who share quirks with their actors in real life

  • Jim Carrey/Lloyd Christmas (Dumb and Dumber): Jim Carrey's character Lloyd in Dumb and Dumber has a notable chipped tooth. Jim Carrey actually has a chipped tooth in real life. He has since got it repaired, but he removed the implant for this movie.
  • Ed Helms/Stu (The Hangover): in The Hangover, Stu is also notable for his missing tooth. Ed Helms, who plays Stu, also has a missing tooth. He had a fake tooth implanted, but he also removed it for this one.
  • John Ross Bowie/Barry Kripke (The Big Bang Theory): Barry Kripke is known for his distinct lisp, pronouncing "L" and "R" with a "W" sound, like Elmer Fudd. John Ross Bowie, who plays Barry, actually has a lisp in real life, but it isn't as exaggerated as Barry's.

Shows referencing things their target audience wouldn't get

  • Victorious - The Season 3 premiere was titled "The Breakfast Bunch", and the whole episode was a kid-friendly version of the John Hughes film "The Breakfast Club".
  • Henry Danger - The Season 4 episode "Rubber Duck" was a kid-friendly version of the Tom Cruise movie "Risky Business", substituting "WTF" for the titular "Rubber Duck", among other changes.
  • iCarly - in the episode "iOpen a Restaurant", Gibby is taunted by bully Billy Boots, who repeatedly taunts him to take his shirt off, which is a reference to Goodfellas, specifically the scene where Billy Batts taunts Tommy about his shoeshine past.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants - in the episode "Sailor Mouth", Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob and Patrick about the 13 bad words, to which Squidward replies "Don't you mean there are only seven?". This is a reference to George Carlin, and his "Seven Bad Words You Shouldn't Say on Television".

Why was this shot of Ray in the "Ox Pox" episode?

I was always confused why this shot of Ray looking on in confusion as the Time Jerker's time machine turns off was included in the "Ox Pox" episode.

It doesn't really match up with the later scene where he jumps through the portal, not realizing it wasn't turned on.

What do y'all think?

[Funny Trope] When characters already know about someone else's secret, but act none the wiser

  • Some Assembly Required: in the show Some Assembly Required, a guy named Jarvis Raines sues a toy company and after winning, becomes the new owner of it. Throughout the show, the former CEO, Candace, disguises herself as a cleaning lady from "Meeskatania" named Mrs. Bubkes. In the series finale, when everybody parts, Candace finally reveals herself, but everybody already knew from the beginning, and Jarvis gives her back the company with no hesitation.
  • Knight Squad: in the lesser known Nickelodeon show Knight Squad, the character Ciara (played by Daniella Perkins) is a knight-in-training and part of the "Phoenix Squad". However, she was actually the princess of the kingdom the show took place in, Astoria. When she reveals her true identity to her father, the King, in the series finale, he confessed that he already found out in the past.

Jerry Russo was in College Years???

Okay, this is the cameo that shocked me.

I watched the Poker episode for the first time and I was surprised by David Deluise, who played Jerry Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place making a cameo.

What's even more surprising is that David Deluise is only 2 years older than Mark Paul Gosselaar and Mario Lopez in real life.

Who are y'all's least favorite characters?

Here are mine:

  • Chuck
  • Mandy (just super annoying)
  • Sam (mostly in the episode "iCan't Take It", because she abused Gibby for no reason)
  • Ms. Ackerman
  • Mr. Devlin (who gives a B just for printing on the wrong paper???)
  • Mr. Howard (of course)
  • Ms. Briggs (obviously)
  • Officer Carl
  • Chief Donker (you can't blacklist someone from the fire department)
  • Freddie's boss at the Pear Store (forgot her name)

Mixed characters (I dislike these characters but they're still funny):

  • Nevel
  • Wade Collins
  • Nora

Anyone else find it satisfying when the "Popular this week" tab matches up with the "New from friends" tab?

u/TronnyVon — 3 months ago

I never knew Eobard Thawne was in College Years!

I was watching the Rush Week episode and I was surprised by the appearance of Matt Letscher as Rick!

Matt Letscher plays Eobard Thawne/The Reverse Flash in the CW Flash show.
