Someone here asked in what ways did BCS change BB?(My view)

Most of Walt’s career was due to Saul. And Mike had warned Saul ahead of time that Walt was bad news. But Saul only saw dollar signs.

He said in the last episode if it wasn’t for his help, Walt would have been dead or in jail within a month, and that rings true to me. That’s not something we really see in Breaking Bad, though we know Saul plays a big part in Walt’s success.

We also learn that Saul was a persona, an alias, a fairly one-dimensional creation of James McGill, who is a much more complicated and tragic character.

It will make all my future watches of Breaking Bad a little more sad, knowing Saul isn’t just a wacky, hilarious, smooth talking criminal lawyer, but the broken shell of a man who suffered extreme trauma not long before.Most of Walt’s career was due to Saul. He was angry that his nephew Tuco was a meth-fueled, hothead that regularly gets himself in trouble. (Apple didn’t fall from the Salamanca tree)

He was angry because someone robbed one of his trucks transporting his “ice cream”

Lalo is my favorite buuuuut...

I was pretty disappointed about the way the writers killed Lalo. After being a ruthless killer who doesn’t hesitate to murder anyone who could be the slightest obstacle in his way, he allowed Gus Fring (who’s not known for his personal bravery, he always directs others to kill for him) to extend his life with a long speech (the oldest and dumbest trick in the villain’s book), and then win a shooting duel in the dark… really? It was like saying Superman was beaten by some small time crook.

Having Mike guarding Gus (as he was supposed to) would have given them a chance to set Lalo on a crash course against a worthy adversary, but they chose to put the unlikely Gus alone… and came out the victor.

The last thing Chuck told Jimmy was that he never really cared about him, and that was after Jimmy tried to make amends with him after Chuck set him up to get arrested and tried to get him permanently disbarred. Even when they were fighting with each other after Jimmy found out that it was Chuck who called Howard while he was asleep after midnight to tell him not to hire Jimmy, Jimmy still went along with Chuck’s wishes and didn’t have him committed and stayed with him in the hospital until he could take him home.

Jimmy’s actions following his brother’s death even concerned Kim enough that she recommended he see a psychiatrist or psychologist, but considering how much time Jimmy devoted to caring for his brother and trying to get his approval just to be stabbed in the back at every stage, it’s not surprising that he wasn’t overcome with grief when he died.

Jimmy worshipped Chuck and only finished his bachelor’s degree and got his law degree because he thought it would impress Chuck. Instead of being proud that his brother finished college, got his law degree, and passed the bar exam without any help from the firm, Chuck’s first thought was to talk to the other partners and convince them not to hire Jimmy.

Jimmy was the one who found the fraud that led to the multi-million dollar class action lawsuit against Sandpiper, and he wanted to work with Chuck on the case more than anything. He didn’t understand that 2 lawyers wouldn’t be able to handle such a big case, but he was willing to hand the case to HHM just so he could work with his brother and make money in the process. He was devastated when he found out that Chuck blocked him and it just got worse over the next couple seasons.

Chuck never recognized or acknowledged Jimmy’s effort but gladly let him wake up at 5am every day to get him his food, newspapers, ice, and other supplies. The attempt to have him disbarred wasn’t even the final straw. Even after Chuck put on an elaborate show to trick Jimmy into confessing that he doctored documents so he could get him disbarred, Jimmy was still willing to make amends with him because of their blood relation and when he went to Chuck and sincerely apologized for everything that happened, Chuck told him he never really cared about him.

Chuck gave Jimmy $1,000 more than the bare minimum not to have his will contested while he gave his ex-wife everything else. Jimmy loved his brother, but every person has their limits and after everything he put up with from Chuck, he refused to give Chuck any more power over him and didn’t even try to mourn his death.

Later on in the series when his year suspension is over, he throws parties where he pretends to care about Chuck and uses the letter Chuck wrote him to convince the bar to reinstate him, then laughed about how they were suckers for believing that he was being sincere when he talked about Chuck.

You can almost see the jealousy creeping in. Jimmy is just being Jimmy cracking jokes, keeping the conversation alive, and making everyone laugh.

Rebecca genuinely enjoys his company, and the dinner suddenly feels warm and lively.

What makes the scene so sad is that Chuck isn't lacking intelligence or success. He's arguably one of the most accomplished people in the room. But Jimmy has something Chuck never really had..the ability to connect with people naturally.

The more I rewatch the show, the more I feel bad for Chuck in that moment. At the same time, I can't help but blame him for a lot of what Jimmy eventually became.

Chuck spent years refusing to believe Jimmy could change, and after a while it's hard not to wonder how different things could have been if he'd supported his brother instead of constantly expecting the worst from him.
