1964 Vibro Champ

A very generous gift from a GF back in the day, with a great story behind it. I’d been checking this amp out for a while at a local shop and told her about it. Since she played, she wanted to see it. On the way there she said she needed to make a quick stop at some store, so I waited in the car. When we got to the music store there it was, with a bow and birthday card on it. She called the shop and talked them into getting the bow along with the card, and writing in it her note to me. Absolutely unreal.

Mustang Bass - string thru or top loader bridge ?

Hello Bass Heads,
Occasional lurker - I play guitar - first time poster.
I’m considering a Mustang bass for some home recording and trying to learn what the differences in sound and feel are between the two options.
FWIW I currently have a Squier Bass VI and don’t really dig it for a solid bass sound. Not enough low end. Any insights appreciated ?

NPD Vongon Ultrasheer !

Finally found a used one in my price range from GC and was able to use a gift certificate a co-worker gave me for helping them thru something.
While the reverb side is great, I’ve got other reverb options I like as least as much if not more.
I’ve been missing the full frequency vibrato side since I stupidly sold mine other one during a post COVID pedal purge.
The cycle/random option paired with tremolo is sublime on clean baritone guitar.
Cannot wait to finally try it in stereo !

WTS/WTT AmpsAmps Vintage Console Boost Deluxe

WTS/WTT AmpsAmps Vintage Console Boost Deluxe

$175 shipped to Conus, buyer is responsible for fees. Also available for pick up in the Los Angeles area.
Honestly not looking for much trade wise but heck, hit me up ya never know !

TL;DR - It’s based on the negative feedback-style controls found in classic 1960s recording console inputs. It's designed to provide a transparent boost, offering up to 60x unity gain, and is known for adding high-end clarity and sustain to a guitar signal. It can also rip !

The AmpsAmps Vintage Console Boost Deluxe (VCBD) is the same awesome Vintage Console Boost, but with a custom Cinemag Input Transformer that gives your signal a step-up and adds clarity and fullness to your tone.

The pedal's design also includes a high input impedance which helps preserve the original tone of the guitar and pickups. When driven hard, the VCB can also produce a smooth, natural distortion, reminiscent of tube triode overload. Note: crackle when increasing or decreasing the volume is due to the control re-biasing the BS170 transistor.

Features:

\-Hardwired eyelet board construction with quality components

\-Gorva S90 enclosure

\-Custom Cinemag Input Transformer

\-Switchcraft Jacks

\-9v operation, battery or negative center power

\-Made in Salem, Oregon

1965 Mustang

It’s been a few months since I was lucky enough to score this. It’s a comfortable, full C shape July 65 “B” neck and while it’s taken me a minute to adjust the 7.25” radius, it’s become my #1.

It’s all original with OG case, trem bar and even the bridge cover.
Clean, bell-like tones thru a black panel Deluxe and it especially loves a little push from a Lightspeed into the Harvard I posted recently.

1957 Harvard

Long time lurker, finally joined to share my little collection of Fender goodness.
At some point in its life, the tweed was rattle canned black so the seller had it recovered.
Original iron and original, reconed Jensen.
I play mostly clean so it’s simple controls and mid focus work great for me.

NPD: Rivolta Mondata Baritone VII

New to me, thanks to Black Book Guitars in Portland, OR. It looks brand new and came with a really nice Rivolta branded padded soft case, currently wears .068-.014 strings. Haven’t had much time with it but I can already tell there’s lots of tonal options on tap.
The 12” radius does feel different to my Fender radii, but shouldn’t be an issue.
Been a big fan of these body styles and lucky to find a used one in my price range.
I’ve got a really nice, lightweight Tele baritone made from Fender parts so it’ll be a baritone shootout to figure out which one stays and which one goes.

WTS 1976 Princeton Reverb

It’s time to sell my beloved SFPR to pay off some bills.
EXC, original transformers. Serial number and pots date to 1976 just before the push pull gain circuit came in on the volume knob. Had a bias pot added making tube swaps simpler now without pulling the chassis.
The Eminence GA-SC64 10" speaker is the classic, go-to replacement speaker for this amp, really making it shine.
The reverb was sounding a bit weak to my ears, so I just replaced the pan with a brand new unit from Ruby Tubes. I’ll include the original pan. I also have the original dual foot switch for reverb/trem and I’ll include it too. The plug wiring needs to be more solidly connected but since I don’t use it, I never bothered.
The Fender branded JBL D110 is a serious upgrade for those that want a cleaner, HiFi sound with high sensitivity, natural compression, and extended frequency response. The previous owner had it expertly re-coned by California Speaker Repair (Solutions) and it sounds incredible.

* Available for pick up/meet up in the greater Los Angeles area. Happy to share my 100% positive feedback on reverb, TGP, and eBay.

Prices include shipping to Conus
Buyer is responsible for fees
Loaded w/GA-SC64 $1699
JBL also included $2499 (shipped separately)

NGD 1976 Telecaster Custom

I’ve always wanted to try the Wide Range/Tele bridge combo and found a deal on this one.
At one point someone had rattle canned it green and the seller to me stripped it down to the OG Oly White on the front. The back didn’t fare so well.
I’m guessing that’s a sealer or base coat that’s under the Oly White ?
I’m gonna carefully sand it off and decide to either leave the back natural or mayyyyybe get it painted and reliced to match the top.
Definitely gotta swap out those 1k pots too then decide to either keep it or move it along.

Bill Graham quote

So I’m listening to 7/16/66 (on Relisten) and Bill announces the band before Viola Lee Blues with:

“The oldest juveniles in the State of California,
The Grateful Dead”

FWIW this version of Viola has a little intro I’ve never heard before that leads into the riff.

Dark Tort FTW !

for now at least…
If and when I can afford/justify ordering a custom three ply red/cream/red tort guard I’ll give it a whirl.

u/Unsui8 — 2 months ago

Pickguards - whatcha think ?

I’m trying to decide which looks best - the red shiny tort guard has white in the middle of the three ply which I don’t love cause the body binding is a darker cream.
The brown flat tort guard has cream in the middle which is a closer match to the binding.
I looked into a custom guard from WD but it was stupid money so it’s between these two that I already own.

*FYI I screenshot my own pics*

So I’m thinking it’s time to let this beauty go.
It’s now got Fender PV65 pickups and a Descendant bridge/vibrato combo.
I hated the OG neck so swapped it out for a
2004 Fender JGS J-Craft Jaguar
Special HH Loaded Neck.
It not only feels so much better to me but the guitar totally came alive with the neck swap.
I still have the other neck.
Whatcha think ?

Wow, the cleanest of vintage Fender cleans is what I finally found in a smaller and more affordable package. I’ve only had a short time to play before work but the genius of Leo shines thru this amp.

1965 Mustang thru a 1965 Deluxe is pretty special.

A quick run with my Whiteguard Dano gets the same love.

Per the seller original PT has been swapped for what appears to be a 1964 PT - maybe it was a leftover 64 that made it into this 65 ? Dunno need to research that more.

Anyone recognize the speaker ?

Seller doesn’t know what it is as they bought it with it already loaded into the amp.

Sounds really sweet tho, any insight appreciated !
