Heard a new take on arsenokoitai, can anyone help?

So the argument I heard was. “Paul got the word from the Greek translations of Leviticus 18 and 22, which makes it clear what he meant by it. I’m wondering how this could be argued against? I’m genuinely perplexed by this and can’t figure how to get around it.

Views on Judaism?

Judaism has been the building blocks to Christianity since the beginning. I respect it greatly, especially its more inclusive offshoots and its views in heaven and hell, but I do know of the… less friendly… kinds of Judaism. What do you think of it. (Going off the rules and beliefs of the majority)

Am I able to be orthodox without being orthodox?

Am I able to follow their traditions and pray like they do, while still keeping independent theology? I really like orthodox traditions but disagree with the theology they use.

Is this pfp disrespectful

For context I have a dumb little account on an named social media platform (Less than 10 followers) where I post videos as a Christian alien about my personal issues with certain things, that isn’t very important because the alien bit is for shits and giggles. But I have this as my pfp. I think it’s modelled of John the Baptist but I’m not sure. I really like it and I think it looks cool but I’m worried it may be disrespectful to other denominations like Catholicism, anglicans, orthodoxy and alike because I’m pretty sure they really like the saints. Can I keep it or should I change it?

Can anyone explain 1 Timothy 2:11-15?

The verse goes “Let a woman learn in silence with full submission. I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she is to keep silent” how is this not sexist? It goes against Episcopalian doctrine aswell so I’d like for any Episcopalians to explain this. It just seems wrong, it’s putting women under men when in galatians 3:28 it says that in Christ there is no male or female. So why is this now an exception to the rules? It seems put there just to oppress women. Why, did Paul (who wrote so many doctrines and central beliefs to churches today and was so influential in Christ) say that? He wasn’t against homosexuality, but then suddenly when it comes to women he got SUPER conservative? It’s making me question whether he was ever for homosexuality in the first place.

Why did Jesus get limitations if Adam and Eve didn’t?

As we know the ones defined as Adam and Eve, or as I like to interpret it; the first human kingdom. The people in the garden, they didn’t suffer from hunger or thirst or anything. They were not ailed by anything because they were pure. That all changed when sin entered their hearts, leading to the fall where they then gained those things. So why did Jesus, who never sinned and never had sin in his heart, suffer in those ways that only sinful people suffered?

Why do people say Jews won’t immediately go to heaven?

(Under premises of universalism) Jewish people follow the old law, which I’m pretty sure isn’t sinful now, they also pray to the same God, have an equivalence to baptism, obey the sabbath. I genuinely don’t get what they haven’t done. They believe in the same God and follow our older rules, it’s basically just running an outdated version of Christianity. I get the “no one gets to the father except through me” but I’m pretty sure he meant he judges people to decide who gets in, not belief in him specifically. Can anyone give some more info on this?

The bible says people will only live until 120, but the oldest person was 122?

Genesis 6:3 says that “their days are 120 years” but she lived two years past that? Being the oldest person in history. This is a question that’s been on my mind for a while.

Edit: after some contemplating I would like to add my own conclusion. When the old law was abolished, so was the age limit.

How I personally define sin (asking for feedback and criticism)

So the way I define it is; what Jesus said explicitly, the 10 Commandments, and what it says in Romans 13:8-10;

"Owe no one anything, except to love one another, for the person who loves has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; you shall not murder; you shall not steal; you shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor, therefore loves fulfills all of the law."

If anyone has any criticisms or corrections I would love to hear them! I’m unsure on whether this is a good definition.

I’ve noticed something wierd about celebrities

We know thst 84% of the world is religious, approximately 33% of that being Christian. Logically, if we only assume Christian as a possibility, then around 1/3 celebrities SHOULD be Christian. But that isn’t the case? The. Umber of religious celebrities seems way lower than it should be.

How do I join The Episcopalian Church from being Non Denominational?

I’ve made a post on here asking about the denomination and it seems very good, then I did a bunch of research from Episcopalians and the church itself. I think it’s great and I want to join. Thing is, I’ve been brought up non denominational so I’ve never found out HOW to join a denomination.

Edit; the main problem is every church I’ve found is “Anglican” with no other details.

New to this, I have a few questions.

  1. What exactly IS hell?

  2. If you believed that ECT was the only way to be a Christian would you still be one today.

  3. Why are there so few universalists, when considering a sizeable amount of the early church fathers believed in it?

  4. HOW do you achieve heaven from hell?

Non denominational here, a few questions about your denomination.

So I’m currently non denomination and I’m looking for a denomination, so I have a few questions about your church. Why am I not using Google? I wanted to hear about it from an actual community of the church, and some of these vary.

  1. Do your teachings vary from church to church or is it central like the Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church
  2. What are the sermons mostly on and how long do they go for (varies a lot from denominations and churches)
  3. In your experiences, have the church pastors been very involved with the people who attend the church or is it “we are here for services and extra curriculars only”
  4. Views on lgbtq. I’ve seen some of the people from your church that have no opinion on it, or see it as sinful, but others that are very welcoming and affirming. What is the majority view?

Edit: this actually seems like a very cool denomination after seeing some other posts. I’ll check out the website (it’s news to me that denominations HAVE websites) and on the list of denominations it’s currently at the top

R/christiansexuality is horrible.

So I went there to look for some answers on sex and pornography, and I see a bunch of people talking about how they want their wives to be (for a lack of a better term) f#cked by other men, men talking about how they want to see everyone naked and have sex with them, masturbating go church wives. It’s a good idea but it just genuinely made me sick.

I feel guilt when watching P#rn because people tell me it’s a sin. Is it?

I’ve been told that it’s normal and everyone does it, but also been told that it’s not okay and should never be done. I don’t know what to think anymore.
