Garage floor new concrete on old slab

I’m a general contractor and work with concrete from time to time but not enough to feel confident about it, I do mainly interiors and thinset is the closest I get to cement work.

This floor is now clean and ready for patching these cracks and primer for cement, it’s quite off level, the middle is about 4” lower than the back door and 3” lower than the garage door.

I’m planing to make one slope of about 1 to 2” coming down to the driveway since there’s no drain in this garage.

These cracks are old and the slab is solid so I’m priming and patching them up, then priming the sloped area where all the screws are and pouring concrete reinforced with steel wire mesh to eliminate slope and prepare for 1/2” of self-leveling compound in the whole floor once cured.

Before adding self-level I’m applying a moisture barrier a coat or 2 then I’m not sure if I should use primer again or if the self-level will adhere just fine.

Would you agree with this process?
What would you do differently having in mind saving this old slab and just adding to it.

How would you go about painting exterior brick?

How would you go about painting the exterior brick with joints all together and the siding?
Any special way of getting it done or just cut it & roll it?

How would you also quote this job? Should I do T&M?

Does the siding require primer or a good quality exterior paint will do?

🩸 [Lamborghini Countach] phenomenal sighting

Surprisingly not as loud as I thought it’d be!

Edit: like you guys are mentioning it does look like a Fiero kit. A well done one in my opinion though.

How would you calculate this space for painting?

Painting all interior walls and ceiling, 2 coats each.
Slightly different white for walls than the flat ceiling white.

I’m curious as how you calculate this.
Just the Sq.ft.?
Sq.ft. + height?
Linear ft.?
Any other way?

How much would you charge for this job?

60” x 30” tile

9’ x 5’= 45 sq.f. bathroom

🇨🇦

Edit: fully gutted, everything’s new, house 1st floor.
Plumbing and electrical, pot lights and light under vanity. + Installation of everything in the picture.

Different toilet systems?

I installed these two new toilets in the same house, they are different brands but similar style, why is it that one flushes so quick and the other one is kind of slow while keeping all the water inside the bowl when flushing?

What’s the best layout for this 30x60?

The tile is 30x60, the same one installed on the floor in the 3rd picture. Right now I’m left with 7 tiles to finish this tub with.
I may or may not be able to get another box of 2.
Either way I think I could finish both layouts with the ones I got.
I’m considering the 2nd layout as there’s less waist, it just won’t match the floor layout though.

What do you guys think?

Edit: The horizontal narrow tile on top in the 1st picture is 10”,
and the even narrower tile on both side walls is about 4” all the way up.

Toilet flange replacement

How should I go about replacing this toilet flange?
Or adding on top?
I can’t have much more height that I already have, it’s at 1/2” already.
Can this cone pipe that’s inserted into the 3” rough in be removed in order to replace this brass flange?

Schluter kerdi band application, thin-set or mud?

For those who do not use their All-set mortar, and go for alternatives, what do you use to waterproof the joints, screws and kerdi band with?

I have Mapei LFT mortar with polymer and Mapei Ultralight large tile mortar with polymer, would these work well for this application since this is what I’m using to install my tile on walls and floor?

I’ve also read people using mud for this, is that a good idea?

Should I cover this with Tile?

What is this? It’s in a basement bathroom right in front of the door, it’s capped at the end of the pipe 5” below the slab surface and it’s unlike the typical 3” drain found by the hot water tank. This is in Ottawa.
Should I go ahead and cover it?

Should I cover it with Tile?

I’m doing tile on this basement bathroom, this pipe is right in front of the entrance, it seems to be closed off with a cap about 10” below the slab level.
At first I thought it could be a floor drain but not common in a bathroom unlike the one often found by the hot water tank in a 3” pipe, this pipe is about twice that size.

Now, I’m doing tile and my question is am I supposed to cover it completely or install some sort of cover on it?

CAADX + Juin Tech GT

I’ve decided I’m going with the Juin Tech GT to replace the bad Promax Renders.

Upgrade to 160mm rotors back and front (not sure which brand and model yet, looking for suggestions).

Upgrade to Jagwire compressionless, also researching which model would work best on this frame.

Current setup is 160mm front rotor with post mount caliper and 140mm rear rotor with flat mount caliper, this bike has both mounts in frame, since I can only find the Juin Techs sold in pairs, either GT-F for flat or GT-P for post, which set would you get?

I’m thinking post mount set with a post-to-flat adapter in the back + 140mm to 160 rotor adapter, would this work?

For the compressionless cables, they run internal in this frame, with no exposed wire for brakes, will it be a pain in the ass to run them through?

Big tile install

I’m looking to install 30”x60” tile, the space is small about 60 sq.ft, how much of a difference in cost do you charge comparing to a regular 12”x24”?

I’m not asking for a quote, just the difference in %

Currently looking for a hammer drill, corded or possibly dewalt cordless as I own 9AH 20v/60v batteries.

I’m deciding in between the Bosch Bulldog Extreme Max, the 10amp SKT that comes at great value comparing to any other electric hammer drill, and the cordless Dewalt 20v MAX XR DCH133.

I use them the most for tile removal and scrapping, for the occasional basement floor concrete drilling opening and concrete wall holes.

Which one do you recommend?

Hi guys, this 2016 CAADX baby needs new breaks, they were never good to begin with (apparently a well known issue).

Now I’m pretty new to the world of bike riding so I don’t know much about technicalities, I use this bike for the occasional gravel/road ride, not long distance and not too steep in the area where I live.

I’m currently looking for options, from my research, I can either keep the mechanical brakes and upgrade to something like TRP Spyre or should I try TRP HY/RD or go Juin Tech?
Or any other brand/type that may suit it best?
Totally open to suggestions.

Should I also change both disk rotor size to 160mm?

I may also upgrade the cassete back & front eventually, to what size I’m also not sure yet. Open to suggestions on that too.

Also read about compressionless brake housing cables, would this help in any way after already upgrading the brakes?

Any questions, pls let me know. TY

Has anyone tried a different USB-C cable to connect the camera to the box other than the original cable?

I got a set off eBay and unfortunately it’s missing that exact cable (which seems to be common as I now find reading online) and it doesn’t seem to work with the standard type C cables.

Looking for brands, 3.1 or 3.2, gbps, 100w or…?

So far, I’ve tried Apple’s cable and a few other non-branded, unsuccessfully.
