Logic doesnt always change minds. What causes the brain to protect a wrong opinion instead of just accepting new information?
I just got a call from DCF that my sister had her 4th child taken by the state due to drugs and abuse. This baby is 2 months old. Her oldest two, 17 and 16, were adopted out as toddlers due to physical abuse. She also has an 11 or 12 year old who is in foster placement. I was shocked that DCF called me as I havent spoken to my sister in 14 years. They asked if I could take the baby.
I dont want to but feel bad not doing it. I dont want to open my life back up to my sister, my own kids are about grown. Part of me thinks this baby is innocent and I could give it a good home. The other part of me is exhausted just thinking about starting over and dealing with my sister again.
I used to love Wise, but it feels like I am paying more every month with all their transfer fee increases. Also, they used to be good at currency exchange rates, but now I see they are even worse than the market average. Has anyone found a cheaper way to send money internationally every month?
ive noticed this pattern where someone states a fact thats clearly off and instead of backing down they just raise their voice and repeat the same point with more confidence. is that a dominance thing or is the brain actually tricking them into thinking volume equals validity?

I lost my custom night guard while traveling and my insurance only covers one every five years. I got mine last year. The dentist quoted me $750 to replace it. I cant afford that right now but I also cant afford more cracks in my molars. Do I just wait it out and do mouth stretches and magnesium until I can get another one? Anyone else been in this spot?
every time i try to do something simple like open a door the ai writes out a whole paragraph about how i swing it open and step through. i just want it to describe the room and let me do my own thing. is there a setting or a way to phrase my prompts so it stops taking over? i feel like i am fighting the narrator for control of my own character. anyone else have this problem?
someone at work told me i was brave for being open about being ace. it just rubbed me the wrong way and i couldnt figure out why until now. brave implies i overcame something scary or dangerous. but being ace isnt a choice to fight through. its just who i am. calling it brave makes it sound like a struggle i should be proud of enduring. i get that they mean well but it feels like theyre putting my identity in a box of pity or inspiration. anyone else feel this way?
idk where else to put this but i need to say it somewhere. last night things got so loud in my head and i was convinced the walls were bleeding and that my family were replaced by copies. i was shaking on the floor for like two hours. my cat came over and just sat on my chest and purred. she wouldnt leave. and somehow that stupid little motor sound broke through all the noise. it was the only real thing. i know this doesnt fix anything but for once i felt like something was grounding me. i just wanted to share because maybe someone else here has a pet that does the same.
so weve been inseparable since high school. she was the first person i called when i got engaged and she said yes to being my moh right away. now out of nowhere she texts me saying she cant do it because shes too stressed with work and her own life. i get that but she didnt even talk to me about it first. just a text. and now shes acting weird when i try to bring it up. i feel like i did something wrong but she wont tell me what. has anyone else had a friend bail this late in the planning? how do i even bring this up without making it worse

so this guy at work yesterday pointed at me and said i look like a thumb. just like that. we were grabbing coffee and he said it out of nowhere. i froze and said nothing. now he keeps repeating it every time he sees me. i need a comeback that shuts him up but doesnt get me in trouble with hr. something funny not mean. help.
