Seijiro Makabe side quest question: I'm stuck

I'm in my first playthrough in Chapter 8. I just solved the pinwheel. I'm at the part in the quest where it says to investigate the Tachibana House. On the 4th page of that quest it mentions going under the bridge that connects the 2 houses. I have explored everywhere in that Tachibana House. I looked around for over an hour. The place is deserted at this point. I even tried going under the bridge, and all the way around the village to the Tachibana front. I still can't figure out how to unlock the door in the Tachibana House that when outside is up the stairs (just before the bridge with the water lady). I found that door inside the house though. Locked from both sides...

I could be mixing this up with the 5th crest, but I think I found another Folklorist note on the other side of the tree you go inside. Where you crawl through a brosh tunnel into an open grassy area.

From what I have read the quest is only able to be completed on NG+. I don't know why they would even offer it to me if it's impossible.

Is it able to be completed on NG or do I need to beat the game and finish it on NG+?

Between the English Sega Genesis and Japanese Mega Drive library I have beat 12.22% of the library.

I was curious how many games I have beat on the Genesis, so I figured it up.

Super exciting, right?

I have completed 72 unique games across the Genesis and Japanese Mega Drive. The list is below. The surprising thing is that there are still so many games on the console I want to complete.

The Genesis is possibly the greatest console ever IMHO. Such a diverse and unique library.

The first 72 games in this list are the ones I have completed out of the approx 880 unique games between the USA and JP library. I might be off there a bit, but it's pretty close.

The second list is SOME of the games I feel like I need to beat before I go to the giant Mega Drive in the sky one day.

There are so many more games I want to complete... It never ends.

Long live the Sega Mega Drive, get ready, cause this formatting is going to be really bad most likely. I'll try to clean that up tomorrow.

I would tell you all to yell at me cause I haven't completed Sonic 3 or something, but you all know what to do.

32x won't play Genesis games but plays 32x games fine

What is the general reason for this?

Bad caps?

Old faulty power supply?

Chip failure?

I booted the console yesterday, and Genesis games were barely working. I tried about 5 games. Some loaded with garbled graphics, and some would play for a few minutes and freeze up.

Fast forward to today, none of the Genesis games will boot. I get a black screen. On rare occasions I will get a beat of sound and a black screen.

Oddly enough, the only 32x game I have, Doom, runs just fine.

I beat Secret of the Four Winds: One game design choice ruined this one...

Where do I even start....?

Secret of the Four Winds looks great.

It sounds amazing.

The story is decent.

The Gameplay is solid.

This could have been one of the best indie releases on the Genesis, but there is one fatal flaw.

THE GRINDING IS INSANE!!!

Have you beat Phantasy Star 2? Which has MMO levels of grinding. Secret of the Four Winds puts the grinding from PSII to shame. We are talking multiple areas where you will be grinding 8+ hours to progress.

It starts getting way worse toward the end of the game. You will walk into a new area and all of a sudden regular enemies will be 1-shotting you. You will grind for 8 hours until you finally beat the area. You will feel good that the grinding is over. You go to the next area, and it's the same thing again.... Enemies 1-shotting you and 8 hours of grinding required.

I cannot understate how much grinding is required.

How the developer thought this was OK is beyond reason. It's CLEARLY A HUGE ISSUE.

Now I'm torn about the game. It had so much going for it, and one design choice ruined the entire experience.

I would personally recommend anyone that has thought of picking this game up to avoid it. Much better games can be had for the price tag.

I'm so annoyed I think I'm going to get rid of my copy. Which is something I rarely do with Genesis games. I just can't see putting myself through the misery of the grind ever again.

Kai Magazine Software needs to patch out 90% of the grinding, and ship new PCB's to owners of the game. It's that much of an issue. There is so much grinding that making a build is pointless. You just need to max EVERYTHING to progress.

Where is Mina's Grater for her quest?

Where is this thing?

The quest says it's either in the coffin store, or her house.

I have tried both places the last 3 days and hit the search button on every single thing in the house, and sat in every chair.

She doesn't have an official house with her name, but from what I can gather she lives in the same mansion as Orlock? The one in the South side of the world map by the ore cave?

Maybe it's not in the coffin store and I'm searching the wrong house?

Help connecting Sega Genesis Model 2 RGB Cable to my 32x

Picture one is my RGB cable (upside down).

Picture 2 is the back of my 32x.

I am attempting to connect a USA model 1 Genesis to a USA 32x.

Both the RGB cable, and 32x have the gap on the top line of 3 pins, but the bottom of my RGB cable has 3 pins when it should have 2.

I have both sets of patch cables, and currently have the Genesis Model 1/32x one connected.

I know this has to be something super obvious, but I can't figure it out. I read over the 32x RetroRGB page, and am not seeing an answer.

Where can I find an art board that will fit a half sheet, Size A1paper? Suitable for watercolor and Charcoal Painting?

I thought this would be easy to find, but I can't find anything on Blick or Amazon.

I want a masonite style clip board. The large brown ones. It doesn't need clips, but it would be fine if it did.

Every board I find is way too small for a half sheet, or has a giant handle on the side. The handle would be OK I guess, but not if the board is so small that I would have to worry about the hole being under the paper.

Font size in game is way too small. Is there a way to fix it?

I can't find anything. Doesn't help that I need readers + a magnifying glass to read the text.

Thanks.

How do you approach teamfights?

I understand this is a pretty broad question. I'm just looking for some tips on what you all are thinking going into and during a team fight.

I just came back after a 3 year break. I placed in Silver, and am getting close to Gold. I have realized that my team-fighting is complete trash. There is always room to improve in other areas, but I feel like the team-fighting is the priority right now. When I look up my stats online I have low damage compared to other Vladimirs, and less deaths.

I try to identify who is the strongest enemy player that I can one-shot and go for them. I do try to find a flank. That's basically the extent of what I'm thinking in team fights other than my all-in combo.

Some of my games have high Gold and low Plat in them, and that's where I start having issues. I can't find the flank, and I don't really know what to do when I can't get into a good position. They tend to pay attention to flanks now, and just position better in general.

I feel like maybe I have the opposite issue compared to other players. I play to technical and safe, and don't really understand my limits unless I am super ahead.

I'll post a few questions here, but feel free to add any tips or videos that have helped make you a better team-fighter. Yes, I watch Elite500 daily.

* Do you ever engage, and if so, under what circumstances?

* When You ghost or flash all-in-combo, do you try to hold your pool, or generally use it to escape to the edge of the fight?

* If you don't have a Summ or Active up to close a gap, when do you enter the fight, and how do you play it out?

* What would you consider strong at the 20 and 30 minute marks? Like I need to be in every fight strong? For example, how many full items + boots.

* Pertaining to the previous question: If you are not strong do you still go for a flank, or do you have a rule for side-laning to get back into the game?

* Some games I feel like I'm playing well, but I don't secure the kills in fights. Then we are 35 min in the game and I have almost zero kills. I understand this isn't always a bad thing, but any tips on securing the kills so I can rely on myself more often to close out the game?

Did the search function get a "Update" in the last few weeks? It shouldn't be this hard to find a Banana...

*** EDIT: It was mentioned by a few people to change alphabetical in the search results to most recent or relevant. For whatever reason every time you start a new search it is resetting back to A-Z. Which is really annoying. Now I have to search, and sort the list results EVERY SINGLE TIME ***

Been using Chronometer for over 5 years. Yeah, the search function has always been bad, but the last few days it has been unbearable.

Simply trying to find a Banana is nearly impossible.

I type Banana, I get banana bread, banana pie, banana laffy taffy, and 50 other things before there's a damn banana.

I type "Fresh Banana", same deal.

I type "Banana Whole", I get 365 Whole Foods "something not even remotely close to a banana".

I'm about done with the app at this point. It shouldn't be this hard. I eat a lot of different foods, and it's just so difficult and time consuming to find things like Chicken, Bananas, Blueberries, etc...

Finding any actual food that isn't poison is a nightmare.

Anyone diagnosed for many years and suffering from face and temporalis flap discomfort? Curious if a Papper or Orthodontic helped you.

Recently diagnosed with sleep apnea. Stop breathing approximately 10x per hour.

I was diagnosed with sinus issues and Atypical Trigeminal neuralgia over the course of 23 years. I've lived with crippling face pain and temporalis flap pain on my left side the entire time.

I have an appt with an orofacial doc later this month.

I have to make a decision, C-Pap or mouth piece. Obviously the mouth piece sounds better, but I'm no expert and don't want to make a grave mistake.

I'm just looking for encouragement here from people that were in the same boat. Crippling face pain for decades that hopefully have a decent quality of life now.

Anyone know if there is a way to obtain/read the remaining 4 volumes of Eden: It's an Endless World?

Finally got around to reading this. I could have swore a few years ago I saw some physical fan printed and translated volumes for 15-18. I would really like to read the rest of the series. Preferably in physical format.

Anyone beat Secret of the Four Winds? If so, come on in here and help me out.

I'm mostly through the game. Made it to the area with the fairies and killer spiders. I thought I was doing really good. I have upgraded all of the amulets I'm using to level 3 or 4. I decided to put 10 points into every stat, then leveled evasion on every character to 20, and aim and speed to 15 on everyone.

I went into the Fairy / Spider areas pretty confident after defeating the hangar boss. Those spiders must be throwing nuclear missiles, cause they nearly one-shot my entire team. Even though my Aim is at 100% or more, all of a sudden I'm missing a lot. I can't dodge for shit anymore either. So much for going all-out on evasion.

I'm curious what anyone who has completed this game focused on...

I'm basically doing no damage. There seems to be no good way to raise damage, other than using an entire amulet slot for a power amulet. That amulet lowers your speed. It's kind of counterintuitive. I could buy 100 potions and health spells, but they basically do nothing and are gone in about 3 minutes.

I don't even understand the point of leveling my spell damage amulets. They seem to do hardly any damage, and again, they are used up almost instantly. They seem kinda pointless really when I can simply level speed and attack much faster.

I guess I'm just annoyed with the game not having a clear way to increase your damage. Seems like a huge oversight on the developers part. Which is a shame because the game has so much potential, but the grind is insane, and seems to get you almost nowhere.

Finished McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure for the first time today. Such a great game!

Popped it in to test it, and played through the entire game on normal. I knew the game had a good reputation because it's made by Treasure. I'm a pretty big Treasure fan so I had to give it a play.

It was better than I could have possibly imagined. Instantly in my top 10 for 16-bit platformers. The game is so polished. I couldn't imagine the art direction and theme being any better. The music is very well done. The game controls great as well.

I only have 2 small gripes.

  1. The final boss could have been a little better. He was easily the least impressive boss in the game.

  2. Even though the difficulty of the game is nearly perfect, they give you way too many lives, continues, and health refills. Had they limited those items, the game would have easily taken a few tries to beat. I managed to not continue a single time... I finished the game with 9 continues. So many that I couldn't hold any more. I probably died more than 10x though.

I personally feel like it's a near perfect game. Being a McDonald's themed game, this should have just been awful. Treasure really did McDonalds justice, and then some.

This simply is a must play game for any retro gamer that enjoys platformers.

Seriously, just go play it.

I feel like it's one of those games that has a good reputation, but hardly anyone has played it.

And you should...

Y's III: Wanderers From Y's Has Been Defeated

I beat the TurboGrafx version ages ago, but wanted to give the Genesis version a shot. I liked the game this playthrough more than I remembered. The scrolling in the Genesis version is so much better. The TurboGrafx version is slightly better overall, but I don't know if I could go back to the janky TurboGrafx scrolling again.

One thing I will say, is that the final boss is so poorly designed. God he's annoying. You have to jump to attack him and have the most precise pressure on the jump. Too low, you miss. Too high, and he hits you and takes half your life. This is while there's a bunch of crap flying around disorienting you.

He literally takes like 100 hits. It's absolutely ridiculous without the Protection Ring. Using the ring I got him down to about 15% health, and it's still incredibly hard to finish him off with 2 full heals. Flipping near impossible to make pixel perfect jumps consistently.

I really enjoyed the game though. The music was great. There is some pretty impressive parallax as well. It's a bit short though. Only takes a few hours to complete.

Question about getting region locked Mega Drive games working on Mega SG by using MegaKey or game genie.

First, I know I can auto region detect. I know how to get the games running. Just not the way I want to run it.

I have a specific issue.

I want to try to run PAL Soleil, AKA Crusader of Centy with my Analogue Mega SG forced into NTSC-USA mode. I tried using a game genie code with the Mega ED Pro. Next, I tried disabling the game genie, and enabling the MegaKey in the Everdrive menu.

I'm trying to see how a real cartridge would play if the region lock was bypassed. The Sega Retro website doesn't cover how region locked games play if you defeat region lock. At least not to my knowledge. I would like to figure this out for a few PAL games.

Thanks.
