I’m writing a piece on Tuckers, and I’m overjoyed that an owner in New York, near where I live, offered me a shotgun ride in #1044. I’m oddly thankful I didn’t drive it—that preselector gearbox is finicky—but it was such a thrill!

The black car was used by Clark Gable, the gray one by Gary Cooper. I briefly met the owner of the former, Harry Yeaggy, who won Pebble Beach’s 2026 “Best of Show” afterwards. He also owns the Mormon Meteor Duesenberg. That’s a different animal to these, obviously, but seeing the two sportiest production Duesenbergs was a treat!
