The Crimson Forest biome at night

I so wish I had taken time to make screenies before smurfs and squids came here. During nighttime the giant forest feels like a forbidden place, whose malformed dwellers will tear apart anything that doesn't resonate with their misery.

Hope the image quality isn't too low, Reddit decided to crunch half of my PNGs to hell.

Stetellites are so trippy, I love em

One mission they play music, the other they TALK. Love the attention to something so insignificant- and my buddy said he doesn't hear anything from them.

Obscure things you didn't know?

I'm trying to collect tiny details and mechanics the game has, like FRVs eventually dying if flipped or automatons enjoying a set of non-combat animations until triggered.

It can be anything, I'll enjoy reading those, especially if I haven't found them myself yet!

Former players, why did you quit?

I'm not going to mention the state of the game, this is simply a genuine question for everyone old and new. What actually made you drop the Starcraft 2?

And, of course, for everyone who does read the post: have you heard of custom content? Mods like Patches' Balance Patch, SC: New Ways and everything in between still attempt to make the game you so passionately loved more interesting, rectify its flaws and whatnot.
For even more custom content, Scion Custom Races and The Ultimate Mode Of Erls are still a thing, Nexus Coop is still out there and each of the mentioned feel good to play right now.

I know people love simplicity(which is why Direct Strike is, sadly, the top 1 arcade and the whole RTS genre is on life support) but I'm only left to wonder at which point this kind of content alienates the already hooked vanilla players. If you were still playing, would you give custom content a chance instead of the game's own competitive multiplayer? Why?

I already miss the megafactory biome

https://preview.redd.it/jhz5al3cxxdh1.png?width=875&format=png&auto=webp&s=150e41b13eb4a8f25044b0772663ee4cdd05166d

The megafactory was one of the best places to try the Cremator on, so many narrow spaces and branching paths it's more reminiscent of urban warfare than Super Earth colonies could ever compare. Also, it'd be so cool to see it implemented on other planets!

I love megafactories. They've earned a special place in my heart back when we were deploying on Cyberstan. I only wish there were more cyborg units than what we got with the Machinery Of Oppression expansion.

Is there a name for the method of creating dynamic game OSTs?

This question has been on my mind for a while now so hopefully this is the right place to ask.

Some games "compose" their soundtrack by cycling soundtrack loops depending on the stage, certain trigger and whatnot. The prime examples I've noticed are Metal Gear Rising(example); Devil May Cry(example); Helldivers 2(example 1, example 2 with only the game's ost so one can discern where the loops switch).

It's used all over different titles, especially those that wish for gameplay-specific immersion but is there an actual name for this method?

UPD: The term for the soundtrack switching is horizontal resequencing, thanks to u/gamersanonymous. The question has been answered.

Any mods that let you ravage/destroy/annihilate planets?

Face it: every John Starsector is evil when humanity takes his Volturn-y plushie, investigates his free ports and pisses on his AI core farm with the force of a thousand onslaughts. And I want more creative ways to destroy, to annihilate, even if that can only be achieved for the player via cheats(NOT destroycolony, only the acquisition of said ways).

My latest attempts involved subjugation of the sector with the Volkov Coronavirus contamination, reverse engineering of Voidlings, unholy numbers of Enigma's phase IEDs, Frictionless Valkazard with maximized time scale mods and roaming a low tech Star Citadel through the core worlds with Indevo's Rift Generator.

I need more.

Please suggest me more ways to amplify the Sector's misery with style. Insert bassboosted Invader Zim laughter here.

Muh mecha...

My buddy entered an exo I called down and immediately left it. Now the mech has a life on its own and trampled him twice while he attempted to climb inside - there was no button.

What do I need to whitelist for my VPN to make it ignore PredatorSense completely?

Basically the title. For whatever reason the app needs stable connection just to exist and I've tried just about anything that has Acer written anywhere in the path to- or on it. It works just fine on startup and if I haven't used the VPN yet. Below are screenshots of my current whitelist.

Otherwise this is what I'm stuck with in the app.

UPD: realized I could make the vpn client work on separate processes rather than just line up everything it has to ignore but the problem stands.

[PC] [Unknown] Arctic First Person Action With Mechs?

Supposedly it can't be Titanfall as Titanfall did not feature snow levels.

Saw it back in 2017-2018 on my relative's laptop(4gb RAM, 1gb VRAM), so the game must not be that hungry or is actually really old.

It was a first person game and the most I remember is the segment where you piloted a mech(at least for that segment) and had to battle against another mech which wields a circular saw.

The setting was ice/arctic and the general aesthetic resembled Metro and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games the most with how detailed it was for the laptop's specs. The most notable part was the loading screen tip about not eating yellow snow, which said relative spelled out loud.

It was pirated from the R.G. Mechanics(RU) website and was localized in RU, at least the text was. I know the localizer might've taken the liberty to add that tip but the visual part is true to my memory.

UPD: the mech's first person view and aesthetic resembled exos from Avatar movies with thin frames and unobstructed FOV.

UPD 2: Thank you, the game I was looking for was Lost Planet 3.

[Image Dump] The game's deployment cinematic needs an update

This is a low effort post, I just rewatched the Straight To Hell short film and thought it'd be cool if the game's drop movie got some love:

So first, I remembered THIS exists.

Yes, you and your equipment are actually lucky to be deployed and not perish mid flight

This grand work brings me to question: what if the deployment screen was different depending on the faction, attack/defense and whatnot?

The justification for this is mostly how static and bare the drop sequence is, and just how much you can cram in there.

This is cool for like the first ten times

For Clankers, the cinematic for a planet attack could feature a ground shot of an AA nest firing into the sky, lasting several seconds before returning to the drop pods.

https://preview.redd.it/rpjel5du346h1.png?width=446&format=png&auto=webp&s=73d5958a5d7cd30acdab5c66ff45049e0b2947b6

If the planet is at high resistance the scene is also followed by rare shots from the Orbital cannon in the background, preferably with only half of its barrel visible.

BEEG.

The planet defense cinematic (mostly featuring Gunships and Power Bricks) is put well enough in the video itself.

The Squids' Defense cinematic get shots of hellpods flying next to Overships while they're shot at from the planet itself, release clouds of smaller ships and do anything to seem cool. Potentially even deflect said shots.

https://preview.redd.it/2x7fhfzp646h1.png?width=864&format=png&auto=webp&s=b20f7a8f5fda31a9af74b37c87ebdb9be3fdccff

The attack cinematic features a brief view of the forces below, potentially a horde of Voteless looking at the sky and desperately trying to salute, a Harvester towering over ruined settlements and whatnot.

WE REMAIN

The Bug front is difficult. The most you can do for an Attack cinematic is to make the hellpod penetrate a forming cloud of Gloom. Potentially also feature infested landscape.

https://preview.redd.it/emelefpu746h1.png?width=686&format=png&auto=webp&s=acc50ea6301ff36a3235a41d477f47e21fbfad61

The defense cinematic could feature the hellpod flying through Shriekers and display forming hives. Maybe as Helldivers fail to defend the planet said hives will grow in number and scale.

https://preview.redd.it/p5ybkgjv846h1.png?width=1041&format=png&auto=webp&s=1996c7aff6db612f288a3d0d473701fe0eec62d8

As for the DSS:
For the first two hours after the DSS has entered the system, your first deployment will feature a brief scene of the DSS warping in. Then it becomes a prop in the background.

Exostorms may hit your divers' hellpods with tiny sparks as the Illuminate drop cinematic progresses.

His lip is too short, any consequences?

1 year, male, spayed, from Russia, taken away from mother at around 2.5 months of age. Can afford a vet but the last time we visited one the vet said nothing, and I don't think it's an issue at all.

NOT URGENT.

Obviously may be because of his bloodline, his grandfather is a Maine Coon and dad is just huge, both mom and grandma are domestic shorthairs. As evidence to that the kitten only communicates in chirps and purrs.

I have no access to the other cats as the kitten himself came from a friend of the family.

Gonna delete the post once answered, this has been bugging me for a while so I decided to ask if anyone else has this or if this can lead to anything.

UPD: Gonna ask the vet in August during his next visit, thanks to everyone who noted this

If I were to make a guide for a Cremator build, would you read/watch it?

I am about to make a guide for our lord and savior, the Cremator and how to have fun with it on the Automatons despite them being the most ragdolling faction in the game. Would you read/watch it if I did?

I'm gonna drop it here regardless, I just wanna know if there's a need for that.
All equipment gifs(including this one) will be done on D5 for better visual clarity and the full gameplay video will be on D10 to show how my build works

Looking for the cape for this one

Bought the Halo ADHD Troopers warbond and can't find the right cape for this combo. So far Gilded Quill and Triangulation Veil work, with me settling over Gilded Quill because of the camo pattern

Went over the Tyrant Cloud and Creek capes, those would've been great if I had them

Pretty sure the combo itself was posted already but I just discovered it and it feels dope

Accidentally killed a teammate on extract, feeling sorry

I really wanted to shoot a melee trooper and the teammate conveniently jumped into my crosshair, eating half my Pacifier mag

Name: WE'VE GOT THE ROCKETS

Planet: Martale, D10, mostly blitz missions

You can hunt and kill me however many times you want from 7PM to 8:30PM CEST today(and only today) and I won't cry over it

UPD: yeah I definitely overreacted this morning. Had a couple wholesome games this very evening and it pretty much made me forget how embrrassing this accident was

[Low Effort Post] Mission Suggestion: Prevent Illuminate Indoctrination

I'll be honest, I didn't have enough time to do cool pics today, so bear with what I've spawned.

BLITZ: PREVENT ILLUMINATE INDOCTRINATION
Locate and kill Illuminate Cultists to prevent the horrific transformation of this district's citizens.

As you may have guessed, this is quite literally SnD, but with a 360 degree twist.

The map starts as a city with several(up to 12 on Super Helldive) Cultists, which will gravitate towards nearby Civilians. In order to complete the mission, they have to be eliminated. Cultists are solitary, except when their roam/abduction paths intertwine.

https://preview.redd.it/oqltw3ws0q1h1.png?width=1635&format=png&auto=webp&s=8e3496d5870301ec899e2304eef53bd1b3b551f4

Once within ten meters of Cultists, Civilians will congregate into hordes that follow them, as Cultists move towards other, unabducted civilians.

https://preview.redd.it/2t5amvko1q1h1.png?width=1662&format=png&auto=webp&s=34b0413a48611f8261d6a4c86e6cb86c61c24ee5

As Cultists roam the map, they pick a random Civilian from their horde and begin to convert them into Voteless, with a bright visual cue to distinguish them from the half-converted horde. Upon reaching a set number of Neophyte Voteless(say, 200), the mission is lost.

https://preview.redd.it/odnu6pfa7q1h1.png?width=1884&format=png&auto=webp&s=f741bc2e368473abf3617cf77c11fd647d3933e0

Obviously, Helldivers would want to prevent the autocratization of our citizens at all costs. Thus, High Command has released guidelines on who to kill and who still can be saved. Hopefully, they won't use anything too explosive.

https://preview.redd.it/xiwn0yye4q1h1.png?width=1236&format=png&auto=webp&s=e24c64e7a36912dd4c5a3abd0f6f67fb42015597

Q: Why did you even spend time making this?
A: The design for this mission popped into my head alongside the memory of that Warcraft 3 map where you race to kill more civilians than some demon lord can turn them into zombies. Except you're the good guys, and now you have to save your taxpayers.

Q: Do you hate Eruptors and Explosive Crossbows?
A: Yes. And missions centered around assassinating single targets would fit the squids and potentially give some extra room for marksman rifles, potentially Laser Cannon and AMR. You don't have to get rid of the hordes, you only have to focus down the Cultists. Also, I rock STA-52 when not levelling anything.

Q: I'm a masochist!
A: Cool. If you enjoy suffering, Cultists may convert people faster when they feel threatened(recently taken damage or on low hp) or have a Helldiver in sight. Additionally there may be an extra version of the Cultist called Baptist(see red robe guy) which tries to convert you directly and wreck your UI and aim when in left unchecked.

Please upvote this I've spent thirty minutes on this crap and the concilium of me, me and a friend thinks this is original enough for the squids.

My brother asked me to try a bug D10 with the medium flamethrower because I "got spoiled by the big flamer" and running it felt too easy for him

Sorry for the discord pings, I was initially recording the whole mission for one person and realized this clip is nice on its own, and the new biome is stunning

11/10 would try again
