I made Outer Wilds in Tomodachi Life!
This took me an embarrassingly long time to freehand lol

So excited to add this one to my collection!!! I was a Girl Scout growing up, so it's extra special to me.
I have several brownie cameras, but now I have a Brownie camera!!! These were apparently produced for the Girl Scouts (as well as the Boy Scouts and others, with different faceplates and color variations) in the late 50s and early 60s.
I hope this isn't too niche, but I'm searching for books where some grand plan at survival or space travel goes awry. I'm especially looking for books that focus on the physical/medical issues that may arise in these scenarios where food supplies and medicine are limited - I want characters with random old timey diseases like scurvy or tetanus, contending with the physical realities of starvation, etc. The bleaker the better.
Does anything like this exist? The closest I can think of is Aniara by Harry Martinson, but it's not quite as visceral as what I'm after. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
The only fauna I could find were these floating mirror balloons (pic 3). Spooky!
About 30 hrs into the game and discovered this paradise planet where the temperature is always around 62⁰F and sentinels are almost nonexistent. The flora makes it look like a giant wildflower meadow and the ocean is teeming with giant squid. Come be my neighbor! :)
I really enjoy Laymon's intriguing plots and fast-paced prose, but I can't bear the way he writes women. I'm currently reading In the Dark, and while I think it's an entertaining story, there's a little too much breasting boobily for my taste.
Does anyone know of any female authors who write in a similar style (or a male author who is less weird about women)? Especially open to authors from the 80s/90s, but modern is OK too. I have read Kathe Koja - any other recs welcome. Thanks!!!
Lifelong glasses wearer with a lifelong struggle here. My nose bridge is basically even with my eyebrows, so almost all glasses either cover up my brows or actually sit *above* my brows, which is a strange look. Does anyone have suggestions for glasses that will look more normal on me - i.e. brows above the frames? Is this a pipe dream for someone with my anatomy? Pls help ):
I usually buy my glasses from sites like zenni or eyebuydirect, if that makes a difference! TiA!
Achieved my best crust yet with this week's batch! The overnight cold ferment really makes a big difference.
Recipe:
Dissolve 200g active rye starter in 800 g warm water. Add 1000g bread flour and mix into a shaggy dough. Let sit for 30min, then add 50g warm water and 20g salt. Let sit for another 30 minutes, then do 4-5 rounds of stretch and folds over the next 3.5 hours. Allow to bulk ferment for another two hours, then pre-shape 2-3 loaves and rest for 30 min. Shape and store in bannetons in fridge overnight (about 18 hrs total). Allow to sit at room temp while preheating oven and Dutch ovens to 500F. When bread passes the poke test, reduce oven heat to 450 and bake in covered Dutch ovens for 20 minutes. Remove lids and bake for 20 more minutes. Bread! 👍
