Digital piracy is something a LOT of Catholics debate on. What about using adblockers?

Technically the website owner is being deprived of their revenue that you agreed to provide in the terms of service when you use the website.

Do you feel like Gen Z whom live in developed nations have an overinflated sense of doom?

Like, yeah, Epstein class bullshit affects everyone. Job market sucks. Mass surveillance is a bitch. I got that part.

That said, does anyone feel like some of us forget that there are others in our generation who live in countries that don't get clean water, electronics, or even food half the time. Their shelters are made of sticks and hay. They barely can dream of getting medicine as simple as penicillin. Yet they make do and can be healthy and happy.

Now, look, I know none of us envy their situation. None of us want to be homeless. That said, we have more safety nets even in hyper-capitalist America than they do. I feel like before we focus on video games going all digital, or complaining that you're a hopelessly romantic man... maybe take a step back and speak for those who don't get to have all the developed luxuries that we have?

Do humans actually like authoritarianism so long as they agree with what the authority is saying?

I mean there certainly is a reason people place authoritarians in power, and I assume it's because they create a powerful figurehead for their own ideologies?

All Marines gather for this vote. There are two buttons, a blue button and a red button. If the majority press blue, all Marines get a 96. If the majority press red, only those who pressed red will get a 96 and the blue pressers will stand duty every day for that 96. What button are you pressing?

#No other Marine will know what you voted for until after the fact. Each vote is completely private. And the numbers will not be displayed until after every Marine has voted. Every Marine is guaranteed their 96 duty-free in accordance with their choice.

edit: to address the "someone will have to stand duty during the blue 96" fine just pretend it's an A and B 96 where everyone gets their 96 just not all at the same time.

Does anyone else feel like belittling/ostracizing others for having the "wrong" belief will only make them spiteful and even more unlikely to change?

I just think it's counter-intuitive. You obviously want someone not to hold that opinion. Wouldn't you want to show them why they're wrong in a more welcoming way?

Radicalization usually occurs when people are villainized or feel like they have no where to go but within their group. Humans will cling to comfort where they can.

Now obviously some people are deadset in their beliefs to the point where even being inviting isn't going to be enough. At that rate why not just disengage instead of make yourself into an example for them to use for others who they want to convince?

People who grew up with *strict but not abusive* parents, what were some rules you grew up with?

I often see these threads and a lot of the replies aren't cases of strict parenting, they're cases of pure child abuse.
