Billed for unknown passenger when ordering ride for family member on Lyft

I ordered a ride for a family member in Lyft app today, and a few minutes after submitting the ride and paying for it, it says “Elizabeth will be picked up soon”. No idea who that is.

So I tell my family member to wait at the start location and he never gets picked up. I see the driver assigned and so I start calling him to ask him why it says Elizabeth on the ride and he never answers my calls. All the sudden it says “Elizabeth has been picked up”.

It full on charged me for someone else’s ride. I had to go through a labyrinth to get support to help me and they finally refunded me but I had to fight for it. I said either you compromised my data to this Elizabeth person or you compromised her data to me. I said I was going to report to the CFPB.

Has anyone seen this before? Lyft Support couldn’t really explain it to me. I was annoyed that the driver didn’t answer any of my phone calls so I could be like dude I don’t know whose in the car with you but that’s not my family member… the receipt shows the location to and from where she went it was similar to the one I ordered for my family member but different addresses. Very odd….

Late Payment

Hello I was just wondering and I know this is set by their risk algorithms but if I have a $1600 spending limit with no history of missed payments and I am late 5 days on 5 orders totaling like $120 are they going to knock my account back down to $0 after a year and a half of perfect payments for being late for 5 days?

I actually attempted to move them one time in the app and I accidentally put the wrong date and Zip customer care couldn’t help me. Has anybody dealt with this before?

Verizon took $1500 & ran

TLDR- Early in 2026, I traded in two iphones and received two iphones. The new phones each cost $26.05 per month for 36 months. Verizon agreed to give me two monthly device credits of $26.05 for the same period (36 months). Despite guidance from the store employee that the credits would continue, the device credits ended early when I paid off the new phones early so I could use SIMs when traveling.

I visited a Verizon store to learn more about unlocking two of our families phones. We wanted to be able to add a SIM to our new phones after we used up our travel passes while traveling overseas. The guy at the store gave me some bad information at first and eventually came back, saying that we needed to pay off our new phones in order to unlock them. He confirmed verbally that our device credits, currently at $1520.65, will continue over the remainder of the three year term. I should’ve gotten that in writing.

I went home and paid off the new phones. It turns out that Verizon discontinued our device credit on two lines, $23.05 per Line per month, for our old phones. We had the vast majority that remaining as we had only received two or three months of the credit for the old phones.

I talked to Verizon in mid June and they said that they would pursue getting them reinstated.

Having heard nothing, I called them again today. They are telling me that the device credit ended when I paid off the brand new phone. They will not return my old phones.

I’ve been a Verizon customer for nearly 23 years. We have number portability pins now and will be moving our service since Verizon has taken our $1520.65.u

Unlocking a Samsung phone

My Aunt Kathy passed away and she was using a Verizon Samsung phone on WiFi at the nursing home. She had a pin lock code but unfortunately none that I can think of she used works to unlock it. I want to see if I can get it unlocked and working for her 18 year old granddaughter

Data overages over 3000$

The line is supposed to just be an unlimited voice 500 mb data line (it’s just a fax line) and after years of no issues it started billing us for over 100 gb data usage per month at $10/ gb and Verizon offers no solution other than data use is valid and blah blah blah so we’ve been trying to investigate the issue on our own and saw this yesterday. Just wondering if it could be source of data consumption or a clue at the least.

$20 Loyalty discount for a year turns into elevated charge at end of offer

A year ago I took advantage of a $20 per month loyalty discount. Good for a year.

The offer just expired and my phone bill went up by $45.

Now mind you, this is just for a single month, and then it goes back down, somewhat (but not completely)

Anyone know why I was charged this much money at the end of a loyalty offer?

Verizon Associate Diagnosing Mental Health for Customers Who Complain

I don't think I have ever experienced as much dysfunction and defending of poor performance. I never would have thought I'd be experiencing misappropriation of customer's funds through questionable and manipulative practices in order to keep the cuffs on you, even if they have utterly fallen short on fulfilling promises that were made pre-sale by Verizon. My only conclusion is they need to retain as much line subscriber meat as possible to keep "the churn" down while they figure out one of the worst roll outs of Al I have seen by a long shot. So abysmal.

At the beginning of the year I noticed a promotional tablet offer. Generally a phone is enough. The main thing I like to use these devices for is to interact with medical monitoring tech stuck on me. I use and monitor (glucose, vestibular, hearing interface with AI....). This was prompted by my wife breaking her phone and since we both had older ones, seemed like a good time to participate in this.

I will truncate the story commencing with the visit to the store, as the experiences illustrated out here on Reddit are right in line with others. We decided to go with the phones and promotional tablet.

As mentioned previously, I have medical issues as a 100% disabled vet I don't say this for pity; That is the fact that ties me to my income.

As it happened, at the store the sales associate was an Army vet and during the sales process he said he would personally make sure I'd get the tablet. So at $10 a month for this device, home internet with a good price and the line charge that may pinch the budget-but only a bit. Doable. This we can afford.

It is turning out to be the absolute worst decision I've ever made.

I didn't realize that this tablet... and the attempts to work within Verizon's framework just to get it solved is useless. Not euphemistically: Useless. An uncountable attempts for hours and hours and hours and hours. After multiple times doing this, you start to see the predictable "story arc" play out the same way each time. At some point I could tell where this would end by the artificially injected enthusiasm narrative and initial setup of setting customers expectations by cheery commiseration then, "We'll get this fixed for you, OK?"

From this point on I know I'm screwed.

Nothing ever worked out correctly. None of it. And the blame shifting is incredible. So I ended up here, as many do, with the intention of broadcasting the problem. Wild.

You find out that if you want things to -possibly- be fixed you'll fare better on a social platform, at least at being heard. And, astonishing to me, you will soon find Verizon associates bashing customers in a public manner that is really bad news for the company. Bitch all you like as 6-pack Joe but qualifying you ARE a Verizon employee and absolutely know this person is wrong because they do everything right.

And if they can't convince you, some of them start with the "just another stupid customer" or, as in my case with "No_Emu_88". His initial comments were fine but predictable, but moved into the now expected treatment you'll get from these folks. It ended with:

"This guy has to be suffering from some sort of mental illness may be due to war maybe not. I'm blocking the thread, he is insane and just wants to bitch about nothing."

Nothing.

* Complaining about being charged all at once for a tablet that should have been $10 a month, unannounced, that resulted in a bank account with negative numbers and other bills not being paid = Nothing.

* $35 overdraft fees daily for the screw up = Nothing.

* Waiting for weeks and weeks for the laptop. The Samsung Galaxy Tab s10+5G never came. = Nothing.

* After some 6 months and countless interactions with Verizon a tablet of half the value, a Galaxy Tab A11+ 5G did. = Nothing.

As mentioned previously, I am a disabled vet and live on a specific amount of income and have done so for decades. I know what I make and the income number is exactly the same within each year. I can't simply drop $400 and go run down to the social club while chucking Perrier cans out of my BMW.

That number has caused a cascade of events that grow deeper by the day and I do not have the means to correct it. I shouldn't have had to.

The end result is that I just want them to fix what they've absconded.

They can have any or all this electronic crap. This whole experience, when it comes to a conclusion is that I will not use these things again. I've done it for about a year previously and it turned out to be far, far less distracting. Not an option for many, but it is for me and that'll be that.

Wouldn't it be easier just to send the correct tablet and get your line fee from the home internet we purchased. I mean just fulfill the deal as it was advertised?

Wouldn't it be easier that you tell your condescending associates to quit ruining whatever reputation you used to have by telling them that they are on the professional side of the Reddit equation and need to curtail the speculation of someone's condition because they are complaining?

I guess not because it is Nothing.

Salesmaker Discount Verizon Inquiry

I attempted to change to Simplicity on my Verizon account with the Salesmaker discount and noticed it was going to wipe away the 50% off plan discounts so it looks like even tho Salesmaker terms and conditions show it’s eligible it doesn’t appear that they are. So then I just decided to upgrade one of the myPlan Unlimited Welcome plans to Unlimited Plus and it looks like that was going to remove all my 50% discounts too- is this normal? Do you have to reinstate the Salesmaker discount if you make any changes to your plan at all?
