You might remember Luna. ❤️ I’ve posted multiple times in this subreddit about her condition, treatment, and our fundraising journey. Many of you have been following her fight against Feline Hemotropic Mycoplasmosis (Mycoplasma haemofelis) and have helped us through some incredibly difficult days.

I'm back with another update, and unfortunately, the news isn't good.

💔 Her Latest Blood Reports

After completing 35 days of doxycycline treatment, we stopped doxycycline as advised by her vet. The very next day, her lymph nodes became severely swollen. We contacted the vet and were told that she had a severe infection.

Luna has also been experiencing severe anemia, laboured breathing, and problems with one of her back legs. She sometimes struggles to sit properly.

We arranged blood tests through AHPL Kolkata because we wanted accurate results to understand what was happening to her.

Her reports are finally here, and her condition is very concerning.

Her kidney profile is severely disturbed, and she is severely anemic. She is also still low-positive for Mycoplasma.

⭕Next step for her -

The doctor suggested a blood transfusion because of her severe anemia. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to arrange one in Kolkata, as transfusions for small cats are considered particularly risky and suitable facilities are difficult to find.

Her anemia is so severe that she is experiencing breathing difficulties. We have even bought an oxygen pump to help support her breathing.

The doctor has advised us to stabilize Luna first before proceeding with further treatment. Depending on her condition and response, the next steps may include iron injections and second-line treatment if needed for the persistent Mycoplasma infection.

For now, we are continuing her prescribed treatment and doing everything we can to keep her stable.

I honestly didn't think I would have to make another fundraising post for Luna.

The people who supported her previously helped us get through her emergency treatment, i.e; the IV saline, injections, medicines and consultations. I will always be grateful for that.

But unfortunately, Luna is still fighting.

For three days, she has severe diarrhea and vomiting episodes, 7-8 episodes of diarrhea in a single day.

The doctor has put her under complete Fish diet only, untill she is free from her disease.

we are extremely worried about her condition. We are continuing to consult her vets and closely monitoring her.

She also has several important investigations coming up to understand how she is responding to treatment and whether the infection is still present.

🩺 UPCOMING TESTS

The vet has advised blood tests including:

-CBC

-LFT

- KFT

-Amylase & Lipase

-HP RT-PCR

These tests are needed to check her current condition and whether she is free from the infection or still fighting it.

🟥She also needs further treatment for lung laboured breathing issues.

🟥The difficult part this time is that we cannot safely take Luna far away for repeated treatment. She already has laboured breathing due to the mycoplasma, and we don't want to take the risk of transporting her unnecessarily.

So, if injections/IV treatment are required again, the veterinary/para-veterinary person will need to come to our home to treat her.

That means additional costs for the tests, medicines, treatment and home visits.

💔 We are asking for help again because we have run out of funds.

I was hoping that after the emergency treatment, Luna would finally start recovering and we could manage the rest of her treatment ourselves.

But she is still sick, and we can't stop her treatment now.

I’m fundraising for my cat Luna, who has been fighting a serious illness for the past few months.

Luna first became sick a few months ago. We took her to a local vet, but no tests were done. She was given medication for suspected tick fever, including doxycycline, without being properly informed that one of the medicines would expire after 7 days. Thankfully, she improved for a while.

Then, in August 2026, her condition suddenly became much worse. We changed vets, but the new vet didn't even review her previous prescription and again treated her for tick fever without running tests.

After 8 days of the recommended medicines, Luna deteriorated terribly. She stopped eating, walking and pooping. Her condition became so critical that I genuinely felt like I was holding her for the last time. 💔

Her blood levels were extremely low. Her nose and paws, which are normally dark pink, turned almost white because of the severe lack of blood.

We immediately sought help from a more experienced vet outside our state through an online consultation. Her tests showed that her liver, kidneys and blood values were severely disturbed, and she tested positive for Feline Hemotropic Mycoplasmosis (FIA).

We then travelled far outside our town to see another experienced veterinarian. He took Luna into emergency care and started IV fluids and multiple injections twice daily for several days. She is now on oral medication and being closely monitored. If she doesn't improve enough, the injections may need to continue.

Thankfully, Luna has regained some strength... she is walking and using her litter box again. But she is still not eating enough, so we are having to force-feed her food and water.

We are reaching out now because we have run out of funds.

We have already spent approximately $282 on Luna's treatment since August, and her treatment is expected to continue for another month.

For now, the vet has stopped the IV saline and 5 types of injections and shifted Luna to oral medication for the next 28 days. We have been asked to give an update again after 7 days, of her condition doesn't improve, then we have to again opt for Injecions.

Luna now has 7 different oral medicines, which need to be given morning and night for 28 days.

Giving her medication has become extremely difficult. Previously, for the injections, we needed 4 people just to hold her and administer them. Now, even for the oral medicines, we need 2 people to hold her because she struggles so much.

The only noticeable improvement over these past 5 days has been her strength, which improved after the saline and injections.

However, her disease and breathing distress are still present. Since we have now started the oral medicines, she has again started eating less, possibly because of the stress and difficulty of giving her so many medicines.

Honestly, we don't know how long this treatment journey is going to continue. The treatment is also becoming increasingly expensive, and we are physically and emotionally exhausted and extremely worried about Luna.

We have already spent around $282 from August till 4 September on Luna's treatment, including consultations, tests, medicines, injections and IV treatment.

We are completely out of funds, and her treatment is still ongoing.

She has 28 days of oral medication ahead of her, along with follow-up consultations and potentially further treatment depending on how she responds.

Luna’s condition has worsened, so we have shifted her to the emergency clinic for immediate treatment.

After reviewing all her blood tests and X-ray, the vet told us that Luna has Feline Hemotropic Mycoplasmosis (FHM), a serious condition in cats.

I have attached all of her blood test reports and xray.

Unfortunately her haematology, platelets count, SGOT, bilirubin, urea r

and X-ray, Almost all of these values are severely disturbed. Her haemoglobin and platelets are especially at their lowest levels, and she needs emergency veterinary treatment.

The doctor has told us that Luna needs 5 different types of injections, twice a day (morning and night) for 3 consecutive days, along with IV saline drips.

Unfortunately, there is no facility to admit her overnight at the hospital. So we spoke with a para-vet, who has agreed to come to our home morning and night for the next 3 days to administer her IV saline and all the injections.

He will basically be Luna’s nurse throughout these critical 3 days.

After these 3 days of intensive treatment, more oral medicines will be added to her daily routine and her treatment will continue.

This is the fourth time we have changed vets, and we have now gone to Dr. Saba Karim.
