Colgera 3rd Phase Flute Solo

Colgera 3rd Phase Flute Solo

from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

I got a few comments that I was cutting out notes on my previous video. Small disclaimer: the previous video was NOT a cover, I was just fooling around on the new ocarina, so here's the actual full solo as it is :)

I don't really have time to practise the actual solo atm sadly, so here's a rough sightread of it.

Thanks to Robert for the new custom Pure DAD Ocarina :)

Looking forward to practising with this very interesting take on ocarina ergonomics!

So about the soon to be released ocarina from nintendo...

I I have noticed quite a lot of discourse on different forums regarding the new plastic ocarina nintendo "showcased" during today's (yesterday's?) direct.

Here's what we know:

  1. It's a plastic 12 hole AC

  2. Eiji Aonuma can't play the ocarina

A common misconception I have seen a lot: "It sounds plastic". Whilst plastic ocarinas are cheaper, and will be outperformed by higher end ceramics, plastic ocarinas are in no way inherently bad instruments because they're made of plastic. Producer/maker is three times as important as the material used. A plastic Night by Noble or a Focalink Rivo will outperform a ceramic STL OoT-stylized AC for half the price.

I think that instead of the common "it sounds shit, and it's plastic" that I see quite a lot of places right now, it would be nice to await with the hate until we actually get our hands on the thing and find out ourselves. We can make some educated assumptions from holesize, sound despite lack of technique from Aonuma's side etc. And remember, the only thing we've heard is Aonuma playing (actually in tune) with horrible breath-technique. I strongly believe we cannot judge wholly based only on this very small snippet of 3 notes.

And remember, they were in tune.

Let's wait until we actually get to try one out before we completely decide it is absolute garbage! If it ends up being a decently cheap plastic ocarina that can do a similar job, albeit mabye not AS good, as the NbN and Rivo, this would be a wonderful way to get more people introduced to the instrument!

And if not, I'll be the first to admit it's more suited as a mantlepiece if it ends up as the new "Ocarina of Crap"! :))

*EDIT: Added a little bit more to the text to clarify.

Norwegian psalmbook: No. 409 - I dine hender, Fader blid

Psalm 409: I dine hender, Fader blid

One of my favourite psalms, in the norwegian psalmbook, written by my idol in churchmusic, Trond Kverno!

Transposed to Bb Major from Ab major because of the range of the instruments.

I'm still struggling ALOT with decent soundsettings, but it's slowly getting there!

My whole collection

Inspired by Steven Higbee, here's a demo of every ocarina I own playing Littleroot Town, like so many others out there, haha!

Newest in the collection is the Focalink AG seen last!

I desperately need a new/better mic for recording, as well as learning decent mastering-settings for the ocarina :')

"Somewhere, sometime"

First original posted on Reddit? Aigght!

Title directly translates to "Somewhere, sometime".

Using this small original composition as a continued practice to get the irish folk-sound outa the ocarina.

Added sheetmusic is also a lot less detailed than usual, as to show the base material I am adding ornaments on.

Is it also painfully obvious I absolutely adore Evan Call's music?

Using this to practice chamberswitching in a different key than C and F major, haha!

Ocarina-vendors/makers in Budrio (or Italy in general)

Hi everyone :) I am going to Italy for two weeks at beginning of July (I'll try to survive the heat, haha), and thought to use the opportunity to visit some vendors and makers to purchase some instruments straight from the source!

I will be living slightly south of Firenze, but will have a car making the trip to Budrio anything but difficult.

I'm trying to find information online, but seemingly only Menaglio (who I intend to pay a visit if possible) comes up!

Anyone have any good tips for vendors, makers and similar in Budrio? (or in the Arezzo/Sienna/Firenze/Pisa area)
