Just want to know before pulling trigger on something like jucoci
I’d like something that can fit everything
I’m trying to improve with armies like Drukhari, Genestealer Cults, and Harlequins, and I’m really struggling into the current meta of big monsters and high-wound, high-save models.
Coming from previous editions, I always thought the game plan for fragile armies was:
Move block
Trade up
Bleed your opponent’s resources over time
But in 11th, that feels much harder to execute. Move blocking seems less impactful with terrain , trading is way less reliable on certain match ups. And sometimes people want to be out in the open anyways , and durable units just soak damage
On top of that, I’m finding mission play is working against me in ways I didn’t expect. Denying primary doesn’t feel as impactful when I’m against things like Take and Hold, because I need to actually control objectives through there command phase
which just isn’t happening when big threats can heroic 6” and clear me off. It feels like I can’t reliably stick objectives long enough to matter.
Playing against Purge feels different, but not necessarily better. My army often needs to sacrifice units or force awkward trades to pull opponents out of position, but that just feeds into their scoring. The things I need to do to create openings are actively rewarding them.
I’ve started experimenting with Priority Assets now I’m going into Disruption Disposition to try and play around this, but I’m still not sure I’ve cracked the approach.
So for those of you having success with glass cannon armies in this kind of meta:
What’s your overall approach into big, durable threats?
What are you prioritizing in deployment and the first couple of turns?
Are you still trying to trade aggressively, or shifting to a more cagey, scoring-focused game?
How are you handling primary scoring when you can’t reliably hold objectives through your command phase?
What general tricks or habits have helped you deal with high toughness, high save units?
I’m not really looking for detailed play-by-plays, more the general strategies and mindset shifts that have helped you succeed.
Would love to hear what’s been working for you.

One thought I’ve had lately is that we’re here to have fun.
If you love painting but never play, that’s okay.
If you love playing with a fully painted army, that’s okay.
If you play with grey plastic because you’d rather spend your free time gaming than painting, that’s okay.
If all you do is build and kitbash, that’s okay.
If you start a game and realize you’re not having fun, it’s okay to walk away.
Not everyone enjoys every part of the hobby, and that’s fine. We all have different amounts of time, money, energy, and different reasons for being here.
I think we spend too much time telling people how they should enjoy Warhammer instead of just letting them enjoy it.
Paint your army. Don’t paint your army. Play competitively. Play narrative. Collect one model a year. Own ten armies.
As long as you’re not ruining someone else’s experience, you’re doing the hobby right.
Question for the competitive players
For those of you who regularly play RTTs or GTs, how many practice games do you realistically get in each week leading up to an event?
I have an RTT coming up and I’m trying to figure out what’s a reasonable amount of practice. Are most people getting in one game a week, two or three, or are you grinding games every chance you get?
I’m mostly curious what your normal routine looks like, not your ideal one.
