Picked up Massive Darkness 2

Got it brand new for $50. I figured it well worth it at that price. It’s right up my alley in terms of crawlers (big fan of Fateforge). Anyhow, just thought I’d share and I’m looking forward to playing it.

Minu rogue feel i but bland. What other solo dungeon crawl small game should i try ?

Mini rogue feels a bit bland* Thanks auto correct.

I played mini rogue, at first it feels really good and fun. But even with extensions, after some runs, one you understand how to manage ressources depending on your starting class, the game start to feel bland.

I can only choose the room i go and when to use my power and thats it. Everything else is dice rng and i cant really do anything about it.

It feels like the game is playing by itself. And the different layouts just change the number of level before bosses and stage you go and thats it.

Am i wrong ? Are there possibilities that i dudnt understood ? Or thats just how the game is ? Are there more interactive experience out there ?

I already played gloomhaven buttons and bugs and one deck dungeon, and if found them much better.

Thanks !

Underquest in Europe

So, does anyone know where we can get this game in Europe out of Germany, Netherlands and UK? WoodenTree sells them but they don't ship to other countries due to PPWR legislation).

Any dedicated print and play YouTube channels?

Some of the YouTube channels I follow will sometimes cover print and play games, but are there any channels that only cover print and play games?

Is Nemesis good with 5 players?

About to host my first nemesis game this weekend. I am concerned about player elimination and having players watch others play the game while their character is dead. Therefore I was limiting to 4 players only so the game is a little shorter to minimize this problem. But in your experience is 5 players okay?

How is Galaxy Defenders (Core box only) mainly for solo?

As the title says, I have a chance to get the core box and, since I'm not in the US, that's all I could get.

I've watched gameplays and I really liked it.

It would be mainly to play solo since my group usually meets like 2-3 times a year.

My main concern is regarding replayability and setup/teardown time vs actual playing time. I don't have a dedicated table and I have cats so leaving the game to play another day is not an option.

Also, are there fan-made scenarios or something similar?

I'm under the understanding that sword & sorcery is similar and have more content available but I'm tired of medieval fantasy and scifi is a theme that calls me more.

Bonus: if you happen to know about a game that feels tactical, with good character progression, easily available and is not crowdfunding, I would really appreciate the recommendation.

Thank you for reading

One deck dungeon

I bought the abyssal expansion and somehow managed to lose the actual rule card in the pack. Was just curious if anyone could take a picture of it so I could reference it to know how to use the cards. Thank you 🙏

How much better is gloomhaven after the revision?

I’ve got a chance to pick up what I believe to be the first version of gloomhaven for $75, but I heard it was pretty rough around the edges and got smoothed out in future releases. As a solo gamer, would you consider the revisions to be worth paying closer to msrp for second edition vs $75 for the OG?

Shadows of Brimstone is just bonkers

Played a Hexcrawl campaign for 3 weeks straight (roughly 35 hours total).

It's what I've always imagined an adventure board game could be, but nothing really lived up to my expectations until Shadows of Brimstone.

We've traveled the land, conversed with spirits, dug graves in a ghost town, been attacked by cannibals in a mutant settlement, roamed the Blasted Wastes and witnessed an alien spaceship falling from the sky, collected samples of unusual feces while being attacked by brain flies in the Swamps of Jargono, explored a non-Euclidean frozen alien city on Targa Plateau.

Absolutely love this game. It's just a solid brick of insanity.

Mansions of Madness - Is one of my top Favorites for solo

So I've started buying the basic box 2nd ed. and played 2 games both failing. But after the loop was figured out I was hooked. So I tracked down all the expansions and got em figuring this might be a long term voyage, since I'm a part time gamer. To tell you the honest truth it has been amazing! Including all the expansions and playing the mission has enough random changes with the expansions spells, items, etc. makes it interesting to play more than once even if you lose. On top of that Valkyrie (Fan Based App To Create More Scenarios) makes it kinda infinite amount of replay. This game and This War Of Mine are for the folks who want stories. Question: Sleeping Gods my next jam?

Dungeon crawlers with easy setup (but not very small)?

I really like dungeon crawlers. However my big issue with this genre is how setup heavy it tends to be. You need to find specific tiles, assemble map, then find a lot of tokens, place them in specific points... So I wonder, which dungeon crawlers you know, which are not as small - not like One Deck Dungeon size etc - i.e. are medium or even large, but still have easy setup for their size and weight?

Dungeon crawler scenario design: story or mechanics first?

The scenarios in my first dungeon crawler were all “kill every enemy”, with room-specific conditions/mechanics.

I want the 8 scenarios in my next dungeon crawler to each have different overall mechanics. e.g. one is “kill all enemies” and the next is “survive waves of enemies for X rounds”.

Do you think it’s better to start with the story for each scenario and find mechanics that fit, or start with mechanics you think will be fun and come up with a story to fit?

One Deck Dungeon - fan cards, need help with skills

Hi all, my son and I recently got into playing one deck dungeon. I found some great fan expansions on the boardgamegeek site for the game that are free to download. There was a file called "Huge Handbook of Heroes" released by dugfromthearth with 10 playable 1p characters.

We typically play the game together but he also wants to play some solo. Therefore, I was looking to make the 10 additional characters into 1p/2p versions. I used AI to help create the imagery based off the original file. AI analyzed the original game cards to keep the balance of attributes and health consistent with the original characters. However, the skills for the 2p are not good. The AI mostly just changed the wording up from the 1p characters.

For anyone interested in this game, could someone look at the skills and try to come up with new skills for the 2p characters (including their usage in combat, peril, or boss fights) that I could update these cards with? Once I get a complete set of cards, I can upload them to bgg for everyone to use. thanks!
