A: Yes! Absolutely. Communicator is a fully standalone smartphone that runs Android 16, with all the apps, 5G connectivity and Wi-fi. We think many people will use this as their primary phone while others will use it as a complement to a flagship iPhone, Galaxy, Pixel, etc.

Q: Can I pair Communicator with my primary phone or primary phone’s number?

A: Voice over internet calling (like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook) will carry over from your primary phone. If you want to make and receive traditional phone calls over cellular networks, a second SIM/phone number will be required. You may be able to set up multi-device number sharing services through your carrier if they offer it. For example, if you are in the US, some options are AT&T NumberSync, Verizon Number Share, and T-mobile Digits. Please check with your wireless carrier for details.

Q: Can I use any app on Communicator?

A: Yes, Communicator is an Android 16 smartphone and can download any app that is on the Google Play Store.

Q: How do reservations work?

A: The reservation program allows you to reserve a Clicks Communicator prior to general availability. By placing a reservation, you secure priority access to purchase a Clicks Communicator when ordering opens. There are two options available: a Reservation Deposit of $199 USD (applied toward the final purchase price at checkout) or a Full Reservation of $399 USD (Early Bird Price, changing to $499 after February 27th), which represents payment of the full purchase price in advance. When ordering opens ahead of shipment, reservation holders will be invited to configure and complete their Communicator order. Q: Can I cancel my reservation if I change my mind?

A: Yes. You may cancel at any time before your reservation converts into an order for a full refund.

A: The physical keyboard on Communicator is an English QWERTY layout.

A: We’re focused on shipping Communicator with QWERTY at this time. QWERTY will support a broad range of Latin character based language. We will monitor interest in other keyboard layouts.

Q: What is the standard manufacturer warranty?

A: The limited warranty runs for a period of one year from the date of delivery.

Q: How does the signal light work?

A: The signal light can be customized to alert you of when you receive a notification from a specific contact/app. Our vision is to allow customization at the person and app level.

Q: What does the Killswitch do?

A: The Killswitch is a physical switch on the phone that can be programmed to toggle certain functions on/off such as Do Not Disturb, airplane mode, touch capacitive keyboard, etc. Customers will be able to choose from a list of available controls.

Q: How will the prompt key work for sending and recording audio messages?

A: The Prompt key will support different capabilities depending on the context. By default, pressing and holding the Prompt key in a text field will start speech to text. Outside of a text field, pressing and holding the prompt key will start a voice recording; releasing will end the voice recording. Double pressing the Prompt key will start a persistent voice recording, ideal for transcribing a meeting. While these are the default settings for the Prompt key, customers will be able to configure it to perform other actions.

Q: How does the custom home screen work? Can I change it to a normal Android home screen?

A: Clicks has collaborated with Niagara Launcher to create a custom home screen (ie. “launcher”) that is specifically designed for Communicator. This home screen allows for a more efficient, communication-centric experience that takes full advantage of Communicator’s hardware and software. The Message Hub on the home screen will show notifications from apps that you pin as favourites. You will then be able to use the touch-sensitive keyboard and keyboard shortcuts to quickly triage all of your messages from messaging apps / apps with messaging services. You can use a standard Android home screen if you prefer, but our custom built version of Niagara Launcher is strongly recommended.

Q: Does GPS work on Communicator?

A: Yes, you are able to use GPS on Communicator, just as you would be able to on any other smartphone. GPS specs: L1 + L5, supports GPS/Beidou/GLONASS/Galileo.
