I believe I had thrips a month or so ago. I think it’s the reason my peace lily died, so I bought a new one. Throughly disinfected the cabinet I kept it in and put it in. It is now having these yellow leaves
Light: visparspectra grow lights
Water: once a week, pot has drainage. Generally using aquarium water
Have not repotted it since I got it
Any reviews of this place? I’ve already looked at the ones on Google.
To start, I’m in my 20’s. I feel like I should physically be able to do anything and bounce back, but with this back problem I fear I’ll never be able to do the things I love again and may need to give up my career and business because of it.
In June, I lifted a box the wrong way and hurt my back pretty bad. It wasn’t even a heavy box. The pain lasted for about a week or two, but I was feeling better in the time range Google gave me so I didn’t see a doctor. Then, I hurt it again while working. I didn’t lift anything, but just twisted the wrong way. A couple more days of pain and eventually again, it went away. This cycle kept going until yesterday. I did make an appointment after the last time I felt pain, and just the other day I asked my partner if I should cancel it because I was feeling 100% myself. Then yesterday at work, I was squatting down doing something when I twisted and suddenly wrecked everything again, but this time was different than the other times. Yesterday, I couldn’t walk. I still had a full day of work and I was taught to push through and get shit done. I limped around the entire day and when I got home I wasn’t able to get up without sobbing the pain was unbearable.
We looked up my symptoms and my partner thinks it’s a spinal disc injury. My mother has a spinal disc injury. She is disabled because of it. My entire life it has limited her on what she can do, she can’t go on long car rides, she can’t do anything early in the morning, she can’t walk very far without pain. And now I am afraid I am destined for her fate. I will have to give up my job and pick up a minimum wage soul crushing job, I’ll have to give up camping and hiking, doing sports with my dog, traveling and seeing the world. My partner is telling me not to think worst case scenario until I see the doctor next week (though I’m going to urgent care tomorrow because I literally can’t walk and my job is 90% walking) but it’s hard for me to not imagine my life is over when I’ve seen how a disc injury ended my moms life.
Update: went to urgent care today, they think I have hip dysplasia and not a spine problem. I don’t know if that’s good news, but I will be seeing an orthopedic soon. Thank you for the comments stopping me from sobbing all morning!
Since the fi collar is put together with magnets, would you trust it connected to the leash? Worst case scenario, say the dog pulls pretty bad on leash. Will the mechanism holding it together fail?
First pic is just now, second pic is when I got it. I do wish the new leaves ended up looking more like that first leaf, but it’s still a gorgeous plant. Newest leaf is all white, it looks like the bud is on green though! Third pic is a leaf hidden behind the bottom left in the first pic. I love the mix between light and dark green
I bought GT Silica from Amazon and the directions on the bottle confuse me. Can someone explain to me like I’m a dummy? 😅
The first photo is when I got close to the tank this morning. I have never seen her this color before. The second photo is when I first came into the room this morning, I assume this is their natural color and they change when I get close due to stress. The third photo is what she normally looks like when I get close to the tank, so darkens up. Last photo is when I first got them.
First pleco I’ve ever owned, they’re a long fin green dragon bristle nose according to the shop.
I’ve got the next 5 days off and I wanted to take my dog somewhere to swim. The ocean is a whole trip, but I’ve got a lake real close by. I’m terrified of blue green algae though. Are there solid signs that the lake doesn’t have blue green algae? If I’m not at least 98% sure, I won’t take her.
Edit, I should also add I don’t really want to go to the ocean on the Fourth of July weekend. I’m sure it’ll be a mad house
Not sure if you can tell but it’s pretty loose. We plan on adding rails, but surely we did this part wrong? This is going to keep in (and keep out) dogs.
I’ve hit the age where what I eat affects my body, where before I would eat without a care in the world. After focusing on calorie intake and realizing I’m not even hitting the recommended 2k a day, I’m realizing it may be the sugars in the food I eat affecting me. However, I think most if not all of my safe foods are high in sugar. Like 1 cup of cereal is the total grams of sugar a person should have a day, and I’d prefer to have at least two cups. Reading people online saying “just eat natural” that isn’t going to happen.
Even if I was over feeding, I have 13 cories, a pleco and a mystery snail that I feel like do a good job at cleaning up (however, I do not think I’m over feeding). Some days I work long hours, so if I had less time with the light on I easily wouldn’t see my fish at all for days on end. That would mean they wouldn’t eat. Or, I can have it set to turn of for a period in the middle of the day but then that means on my days off there would be a chunk of time when I can’t appreciate my fish. There’s got to be another way, right?
Adding terrestrial plants isn’t an option, my mystery snail always leaves the tank when given the chance. I have floaters and I plan on adding more plants eventually. Are there “chemicals” I can add? In quotes, because I’m thinking more like fertilizers or copper or something. Do I have to add algae eating fish? Is co2 the way? Help!
This pic is after me scraping off long strands of hair algae off the grasses on the left. I set up the tank in March, added fish in April. Wood still isn’t sunk hence the rocks lol
Hi! Gotta pick something up tomorrow in Jacksonville and if I can, I’d like to bring my dog for a beach trip. I’ve found dog friendly beaches but I’d love to hear from you whether if any of them are pretty dead on a Wednesday. My dog is dog reactive, but people are fine. We will be fine if we see a dog every now and then, but a bunch of dogs especially off leash would suck. We’ve been to bald head island and the beach experience is what I’m looking for, we were able to have her on a 50ft leash with no one anywhere near us. I know the beaches in Jacksonville require 10ft or shorter in some places so that’s not a problem, but it gives an idea on what I’m looking for lol. The trip is tomorrow so places that don’t allow dogs during this season or only allow them before 9am or after 5pm won’t work either.
I’m looking for a shelf for my gargoyle and leopard gecko, and I’d like to make it wide enough in case I decide to get a beardie one day. On Lowe’s I see standard sizes are 48 which to my understanding, the tank needs to be 48 wide so I’m not sure if it would fit? Anyone have their tanks on a shelf?
I just lost damn near all my plants due to some pest, but this one wasn’t near them at all. Completely different room. This seems similar though.
8 hours of light, I water like every other week soil mixed with coir chunks
I feel like she’s rubbing into it sorta like a cat, but I don’t want to do it if this is actually a fear reaction
Thank you for all the responses! I will not pet her like this again. She is my partners lizard so I don’t know much about them. But this would also explain why his tegu lifts his body when I try to pet him too, but he will slap his tail at me which I feel like is a more obvious “f off” lol
I recently asked another sub what my partner should do with the bonus’s he gets at his new job, if they should be included in his income or if he should just keep them. For more info there, my pay fluctuates every month so it changes but it’s based on a percentage of our income. I think he wants to keep the bonus, but I think this my percent of the bill changes that his should too if he makes more.
The other sub deleted my post and told me to come here, and some commenters said the way we’re doing it isn’t very good long term because it doesn’t make us a team. Do you actually share your income with your partner? What if one person uses the money to buy something for themselves, leaving you with less money?
What is fair?
My partner recently accepted a job offer where he gets a bonus quarterly depending on how much he works. Should that bonus be included in our bills? Right now we pay them based on percentage of how much we make. My pay fluctuates every month based on how much I work, often I pay almost equal but sometimes more or less.
So, should his bonus be his to keep or should it be included in his income for the shared bills?
