A scene that could have been from Obsession played out in my presence this week.

I’m a woman and lift weights regularly. Yesterday there were just two other people in the weight room: a tall surfer type dude and an Inde Navarette lookalike in short shorts and a black tee.

Dude had earbuds in and was focused on his reps. Inde-Girl was also lifting but 100% focused on dude to the extent that it was creepy: literally batting her lashes, flipping her pony, smirking. But the REALLY weird thing was the way she’d wipe her smile off if his face was turned away. She was so anxious to interact with him that at one point she played at adding more weights to his stack and he spoke sharply to tell her to stop.

The whole scene was so powerfully strange that it reminded me that one thing I love about Inde as Nikki is how she captures that performative femininity….and how ultimately Bear finds it oppressive.

Currently in Finland and noting that many towns nearby end in -by.

In England this usually denotes some local history of Danish settlements. Is this also the case in Finland?

If this is not your thing scroll on by, but it did make me laugh out loud, considering how we all respond to upgrades.

This is the Finnish comedy group KAJ, hailing from rural villages near Vaasa.

Flight out of Denver to SLC was oversold, no big deal, except that the strategy to rebook people was to offer direct flights (on United!) to people’s final destination, e.g., Reno, Orange County, etc. No cash offered. Some people took the deal.

Anyway we boarded (late, because of all the wheedling for volunteers) and were waiting to get going and the GA came on the plane and scolded us, saying we were not leaving until five people accepted a later flight. For the first time, money ($600) was offered, and five people got off. Five got on, and we left….approximately 25 minutes late.

I won’t go into all the already tight connections that were strained, but I was amazed that 1), the alternative was a rival product, 2), they actually came onto a fully boarded flight and delayed it, and 3) compensation wasn’t mentioned until so late in the game.

Any thoughts?

The loved one in question has always had a fear of dentists. When she first got sick we talked about her healthcare and I promised I wouldn’t make her go.

Anyone have any ideas on troubleshooting my Samsung TV for Met Opera on Demand? I log in and pick my opera and press play and it asks me to log in again. I log in again and same thing happens. It’s an endless loop.
