8 years a NEET, severe social anxiety, and deep in a PMO addiction. I feel completely stuck, how do I break this chain?

I’ve been a NEET for almost 8 years now, ever since COVID hit and I dropped out of college.

Being stuck at home all day with no structure destroyed my mental health. I have severe social anxiety to the point where looking people in the eye or searching for a job terrifies me. Because of this isolation, I turned to PMO as my primary coping mechanism.

Now I’m trapped in a cycle: Social anxiety → Isolation → PMO for cheap dopamine → Guilt & brain fog → More anxiety.

I know I need to fix my life, but trying to cure a PMO addiction while living as a NEET feels impossible when you have all the free time in the world and nowhere to go.

Has anyone here successfully broken out of the NEET + PMO loop with extreme social anxiety? Where do I even start when leaving the house scares me?

Don't wait until Jan 1st.

If you start today (Aug 17), you’ll already have 137 days under your belt when 2027 hits. You'll pass the 90-day mark by mid-November.

Build the momentum now instead of starting from zero next year. Day 1.

You know what’s even harder than being naturally sensitive as a Cancer?

It’s being a man while having that nature. The truth is, people don't really care about your zodiac sign, as a man, society expects you to be a rock. You're required to be physically and mentally strong, yet somehow remain soft-hearted and emotionally available. Balancing that constant expectation is so
:')
exhausting.

An old college friend invited me to his wedding at the end of the month.

Since it's been so long, I'm using this event as fuel to fully commit to NoFap, clear my mind, and bring a fresh, confident energy when I reunite with everyone.

how much porn has ruined your ability to enjoy the simple things in life (dopamine burnout)

realized that your dopamine levels are so messed up from watching porn that normal life just doesn’t feel rewarding anymore.

watching movies feels boring, going for a walk, feeling the fresh air, seeing the sunlight,
or watching swans by the lake, things that should feel peaceful and amazing, just feel empty now.

even meeting new people doesn't excite you anymore.

it’s crazy how pixels on a screen can completely numb your mind to the real world. i’m writing this as a reminder of how destructive porn is if you keep doing it every day.

I absolutely loathe Dax. He’s a middle-aged boomer forcing a cringe "young rebel" persona, and I am sick of carrying his entire operation.

I am so tired of constantly driving up and down to that stupid Freakshop under the bridge. Over and over again. And for what? For him to sit on his ass, do absolutely nothing, and order me around to do all the heavy lifting. He doesn't help at all. He just barks orders his repetitive, exhausting missions.

Happy 28th Birthday: A Turning Point

Today, I turned 28. For a long time, I kept questioning why I fell into the trap of PMO addiction. It left me jobless, broke, and led me to abandon my online business.

But today, I finally see the wisdom in Allah’s plan. Allah knew that if I had financial wealth in my early 20s, I would have used that money for destructive things, like hiring escort girls, engaging in reckless behaviors, and risking life-altering diseases like HIV or AIDS. By keeping my pockets empty back then, Allah was actually protecting me from my own worst impulses. He knew exactly when I would be ready to handle wealth responsibly.

Now, at 28, with only two years left before I hit 30, my mindset has completely shifted. I am finally mature enough to leave PMO behind for good. I am ready to rebuild my business, stack my wealth, and use it for the right reasons: to get married, buy a home, and perform Hajj, Insha-Allah.

Please pray for my journey. I am claiming my success at 29, before I hit 30. Ameen.

A 60-second elevator interaction with a girl just ruined video games for me.

Bruh. It finally happened. I think I just got violently forced to "touch grass."

Yesterday, I was waiting for the lift on my apartment floor and ran into a girl I’ve never seen before, even though we apparently live on the same level. We ended up having some small talk.

She was genuinely so pretty, kind, and had the sweetest voice and smile. But here is the kicker: literally two minutes before stepping out of my flat, I randomly decided to spray a sweet fragrance I never use. Absolute RNG god was on my side, because I actually smelled decent for once.

Ever since that interaction, I can't look at my monitor the same way. It hit me like a truck. I’m so done chasing pixels on a screen. I don't want fictional waifus or rank grinds anymore; I want real love. I want a real woman to laugh with, build a life that benefits both of us, and make actual memories.

I’m lowkey panicking because we live on the same floor and I’m definitely going to see her again. Redditors who successfully transitioned from screen-dwellers to talking to real women... what is the play here? How do I not fumble this next time the elevator doors open?

A 2-minute elevator interaction just made me realize I’m done with "pixel" romance.

Yesterday, I had a brief small talk with a stranger in my apartment elevator. Turns out, she lives on the exact same floor as me, even though I’ve never seen her before.

She was incredibly kind, had the prettiest smile, and the sweetest voice. Funnily enough, right before I left my unit, I decided to use a sweet-scented fragrance spray that I almost never use. Absolute lifesaver, bruh.

Honestly, that short interaction woke something up in me. It made me realize I’m so done with looking at pixel screens and fictional characters on my monitor. I want real love now. I want a real woman where we can build a life that benefits both of us, laugh together, and make actual memories. Wish me luck if I ever run into her on our floor again!

I met a real girl in my building yesterday and realized my monitor has been lying to me.

I’ve spent the last few years convinced that gaming and my PC setup were all the dopamine I needed. Yesterday changed everything in less than two minutes.

I ran into a girl waiting for the lift on my floor. Turns out we are literal neighbors, but I've never seen her. We did some quick small talk. She had the most amazing smile and voice, and thankfully, I had randomly decided to try on a new sweet cologne right before walking out (biggest clutch moment of my life, lol).

Walking back to my room, looking at my gaming setup just felt... empty. I realized I don't want the pixel screen romance anymore. I want the real deal. I want someone to share life with, laugh with, and create actual memories with.

Here’s the dilemma: Since we live on the exact same floor, running into her again is inevitable. Do I play it cool and just nod, or do I actively try to strike up another conversation? I don't want to seem like a creep lurking by the lift, but I also don't want to miss my chance. What should my next move be?
